    Post Surgery

My doctor cleared me for that type of food at 8 days out (moved it up after seeing the esophogram)...

    How Do I Get Unstuck

What about drinking something hot to listen the band?
  3. Thought I was totally better, but tonight I've been aching around my port site (next to my belly button) and under my left rib where I had a lot of gas pains the first week... Is this normal? I'm a little weirded out that it hurts all of a sudden...

    Pain At Port Site

OMG, I just posted a similar post not one second ago... We have the same band date!! Two weeks ago. Today suddenly my port area is hurting, as is the area around my second incision (under my left rib).... Mine isn't calling out pain, more of a dull ache...
  6. I want to finish my eggs!!!!!!! I'm sure this is the first of MANY times I'm going to be frustrated about not being able to eat something, but it's a big wake-up call suddenly experience what it means to not be able to eat. I sort of want to cry... Just had 2 sunny-side up eggs and a little potato and I got about 3/4 through and feel this intense tightness in my ribcage. I'm sure it means I'm full. But it's really really upsetting to see those 3 last bites of egg sitting on the plate, wanting to be eaten, and know that if I go there something bad is going to happen. I poured Water on them, so I wouldn't be tempted, but I'm still upset... :-(
  7. Day 7 postop, anyone know what's going on? It's freaking me out a little!

    Stress :/

It hasn't in my case.... I had a total stress-ball meltdown a couple days after surgery (crying & hyperventilating for 5 hours, etc), and totally overdid it walking too much the first few days... That said, my weight loss has been great. Knock on wood...

    Soft Food

So far i'm living on mashed fish, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, and ff greek yogurt...

    Acceptable Protein Shakes

My favorite by far was GNC's Lean Shake... Only chocolate. The vanilla and strawberry were yucky.
  11. I've told a few people that I'm doing a strict liquid diet for a month as a boost, and then joining Weight Watchers...

    April Bandsters!

I'm day 12 post-op and SUDDENLY felt awesome this morning. Both in recovery, and losing weight... I was telling a coworker that coming to work on the subway this morning I felt like a gazelle bounding up all the stairs. It's the first in months, maybe years, that I can remember not wheezing and panting and sweating when I got to the top. I usually go for the stinky elevator rather than walking, but today it was SO much easier. No pain, and much lighter... So far I'm so happy I had this surgery!!!!

    April Bandsters!

Good luck to everyone getting banded today!!! See you on the other side!
  14. Can someone explain what stuck means, exactly? I'm wondering if it's really stuck, as in clogging the whole machine, or if it just means there's a little something in there that takes time to melt away... Can you share what stuck means to you?

    How Stuck Is "stuck"?

Oops, nevermind... I didn't see that this thread was already started!!!

How Do You Deal With Your Family Eating?

Me too, and it's a challenge. But I find that while she'll only eat like 12 foods, thankfully avocados, fish and broccoli are among them... along with crackers, bread, pancakes, goldfish, cereal and anything else white carbs. hehee. and pizza and really any kind of candy. if she could live on candy she'd be fine...
  17. Just curious if there are any other banded folks near by...
  18. gas? did I have gas? I had a sore throat when I woke up, but if they gave me gas I didn't know it...
  19. I had my lap band done with Dr Fielding 10 days ago and have nothing but huge praise to say about him and his entire team. I think he's the bomb. Spent a LOT of time with me going over options, had an answer for everything, a theory about why some people are successful and others are not, and has built an entire practice around making it successful. EVERYONE was lovely. From the receptionist to the awesome dietician to the nurses and to him. I think he's a truly fantastic person with a lovely bedside manner as well as an incredible resume. But most of all, everything so far has gone exactly the way he prepared me it would, and my incisions are perfect!!! Tiny, straight, neat, and hidden—and already healing nicely. I recommend him so strongly that if you want to talk about him, send me a private message and I'll be happy to talk to you on the phone.
  20. Brandi, how was your fish tonight? I tried making the lemon sole recipe that I pasted in your post and it came out so badly that I had to throw it away... Maybe my filets were too thick or something, but I don't know how anyone makes that without burning the butter...
  21. It is definitely that!! I'm all over the place. This morning was just weird. And tonight was weird too... I had greek yogurt for dinner and I have to say, even though I ate Breakfast at 11am, I still wasn't THAT hungry by dinner time. I would describe it as the "I could eat" feeling... Anyway, I could only eat half the container. It's just baffling!! I mean, I know that this is why I got the band, but I really had absolutely NO IDEA how to imagine what it would feel like. So far, I love it!! This was much better than I was even dreaming of!!

    Full Liquid Diet

Wow, that list is TOTALLY different than mine... Mine didn't have any sweets, or any creamy things on it... The highest calorie item was probably mashed potatoes, and that had "(limit)" next to it...

    Baked Fish? A Mushy?

It's on my doctor's list of mushies... fork mashed white flakey fish...

    Skin

I went to Dr Baraka for my breast reduction. I thought he did a pretty good job. http://www.drberaka.com/ -- not sure I'd go to him again, but I was happy for a long time and had very little scarring.
