Frankly, I drink with friends all the time. I've stopped drinking at home (which I used to do a lot) and I may need to cut down more when my weight loss slows, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. For now, social drinking a couple of times a week hasn't affected my weight loss.

this is me... I've only told a handful of people. I have a range of different excuses, here are a few... - I just started seeing a nutritionist and I'm super gung-ho about it - I feel like I might be coming down with something - I had a big lunch - I'm trying a new portion control diet and am only eating the size of my hand, but every 3 hours - etc etc... GOOD LUCK!!!

Having Trouble With Liquids
SashaWLS replied to hubmacfan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you! I hated every single protein shake there was except for the GNC Lean Shake (only in chocolate) because it tastes like a Yoohoo... But it's worth trying to find something you like because while this phase is only 14 days, you'll have to return to these shakes after the band, and every time you get a fill... But there must be SOMETHING out there you'll like! Just need to find it. -
you might try eating some Tums to see if it helps. If it does help, then you probably have some reflux and esophagitis. If it doesn't help, no harm done, it's a little extra calcium.

is it possible that your esophagus is irritated? that may be part of the problem...

UPDATE - I had .25cc removed and I feel 1000000000x better!!!!!! It's amazing that a teeny amount like that can make the difference between pain or no pain, eating or no eating, drinking or no drinking... I feel like I can have anything now! I mean, I can't gulp liquids because they back up, but it doesn't HURT. I just have to wait a sec till it clears. Very different than this morning where it really hurt to have a sip of juice and I couldn't even drink coffee.
-
Had a sip of grapefruit juice 1/2 hour ago (cool, not cold) and have been feeling pain ever since. Tried a sip of coffee and I'm sliming and gurgling like crazy, and it also hurts a little... Is this normal? I had a fill on Friday and am not sure if this is just 'the new normal' for me, or if I'm too tight. I'm really uncomfortable...
-
Just had .25 removed and feel SO much better. I still can't chug liquid, but I'm not getting stuck on it either. And I was able to eat some soup without discomfort. And I found out that I've lost 4lbs in 3 days.

There Is No Question, For Me, Lapband Will Work! And Here's How I Know...
SashaWLS replied to LiveStrong41's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME WAY! -
Oh, sorry, I meant .5cc!!
-
Dear band, please let me eat this soup!
-
I was able to get down a glass of very hot Water, but I'm still having trouble. I had the teeniest bite of oatmeal and am in pain. So I switched to hot cream of tomato Soup and even that is gurgling and hurting with one tsp... I think I"m going to call them and see if I can get 2cc of the 5 they put in taken out...
-
Even in the morning? I have to say I think you're right. I was able to get down a glass of hot Water, but I'm very hungry and want to eat something. I just took one sip of tomato Soup and I'm gurgling... I don't see how it would be possible to eat something cold at this point...

? On Stomach Noises And Appetite In Overdrive
SashaWLS replied to csking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my periods are out of control since the band. were no big deal before... -
UGH, this is driving me crazy!! I took a very careful sip of grapefruit juice about 5 minutes ago (the first thing I've had this morning) and it STILL hurts. I didn't gulp, I had maybe 2 tbsp.... Do any of you find that you can't drink or eat anything in the morning? Or does this get better after a few days and I'll be able to maybe eat some oatmeal... FWIW, I feel hungry.

I Need Help With Lunch!!!!!
SashaWLS replied to allik07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
can you buy a cheap one to keep in your office? -
I counted mushy Pasta as a mushy.... regardless, I was able to eat mushy broccoli just fine, so I think perhaps I just may have problems with pasta. And for what it's worth, I would have been doing Protein shakes today, but I can't seem to tolerate cold drinks at all...
-
Thanks you guys. I can drink, I just can't drink cold liquids quickly. And I can eat, I guess, only if it's hot liquid. I tried to eat some Pasta (teeny bites, chewed till mush) a little while ago and ended up throwing it up. Tea is going down fine... I'll try to do an extra day of liquids I guess, maybe I'm irritated. :-( wah. I want to eat!

Restriction After Almost 4 Yrs???
SashaWLS replied to Gwen Kinder Slone's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Elcee called it... I'm feeling just as nervous as you are. Haven't had the band as long, only 6 months, but I've been able to eat pretty much anything. But last fill I suddenly found myself throwing up more, PBing, sliming. But I think it's because I've slipped back to old habits. I'm eating too fast, not chewing enough, not thinking about what I eat... Today I got another fill because I've been hungry all the time (even though throwing up, etc) so I'm totally nervous... How the hell am I going to be able to eat? I want to eat fast. I want to eat a lot. But I got the band so I can't. Which is WHY I got the band. But it's also freaking me out a little. Good luck to you!!!! -
Can Not Tolerate Protein Drinks!!!!!
SashaWLS replied to Lmi346's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the only one I liked was the pre-mixed GNC Lean Shake in chocolate... -
How do you feel?
-
I've had a fill since I last replied, so I'd like to make another comment... Part of not losing may be more than simply making poor food choices. It may be that you're not at the right fill level. Some Drs have lousy follow-up program, so a person may end up being under filled and then surprised that they're not losing weight. Other people may be over-filled, constantly throwing up, and then give up and not go for another fill later because they're scared to have that horrible experience again. Since I had my fill (yesterday) I suddenly am not as hungry. I was attributing all my bad food choices to rebellion. But quite frankly, I think I just needed a fill. Or maybe it's both...
-
I've lost 40 something and my loss is slowing. But that's because I'm fighting my rebellion, and have been eating HORRIBLY lately.
-
Does your band tighten in the morning? When you're stressed? If you travel? I'm curious to hear about other peoples' experiences with a fickle band! I can hardly eat anything the last few days, so I'm hoping that hearing your stories will help me figure out what's going on. xo
