And Laura... Cadbury mini-eggs are my all time favorite candy. Crunchy shell and melt in your mouth chocolate. I can't go near them in the store or I'm going to blow all the good habits I've acquired in the past month. arghhhhhhhh

Good morning, Violets.. Just back from my hospital shift and have the day to myself until rehearsal this evening. It was -14 when I got up this morning. It's +13 now and the sun is shining. No new snow for us, thank goodness. Haydee.. in Michigan we are required to meet an certain number of teacher/student contact hours. At the school where I taught, we had time built in a couple of minutes a day to "bank" time for snow days. If we don't meet the time requirement, then days are added at the end of the year. The most we have ever added during the time I was teaching was 4 days. Believe me, those are not productive days in June!!! But we used to start late August so the kids actually got out in May so added days didn't extend that far into June. I'm just glad I don't have to worry about all that stuff now. Retirement is great, for the most part. We got word yesterday that the Bobster's pension payment would decrease by $400 a month starting in April for 6 months. His pension is tied to the stock market and we knew this was a possibility, but sure didn't expect it to be this bad. Luckily my pension is ok for the time being and I'll start getting Social Security in July. Just hope I can round up the money to buy plane tickets to Alabama and pay for the room!!! Terry, please send out a reminder when the time gets close for payment due, k?? My old brain might not remember that part. Off to fix some lunch for the Bobster and I and then work on my budget. Everyone have a good day.

151 Days till the Violet Reunion Bandiversary Bash and 1st ever Violet Baby Shower! -
Michelle and TracyK.. glad you finally know what you're up against. When I was looking up symptions for migraines, it mentioned that severe headaches can come from sinus infections. TracyK.. hope you can get some relief soon! I'm sitting in my easy chair, typing away on my laptop, stopping every few sentences to munch on my tuna salad while watching Paula Deen cook that good southern food. The birds were very active outside today at the feeders. That usually means a storm. I haven't heard of anything coming in yet, but we usually get what Oklahoma gets, just a few days later and they are under a storm watch for ice. It got up to 15 degrees today. My furnace is working overtime. I buzzed up some frozen strawberries and mango pieces with heavy cream and will have that after I'm done with my tuna. yummy. I got lots of blowling and golf in today with the Wii plus some minutes on the mini-elliptical. Hope PamELa stayed awake til school was over. Everyone have a good evening. Where's Kat today??

WAKE UP, PAMELA!!!!:w00t::sleep2:

Ethan left at 2:30 and the Bobster won't be home til 7 so it's very, very quiet here right now. I've read all my tabloids, fixed my tuna salad for dinner and caught up with my laundry. Now I can just sit and surf the net or read some more of my book. Decisions, decisions. Any word from TracyK or Michelle yet???? Piehole report so far. Breakfast...1 egg scrambled with cheese Lunch...1 cup ham salad with mandarin orange segments and soy nuts Snack...1 slice cheese 2 liters water I'll have tuna salad with the oranges and nuts for supper and then maybe some berries and cream for dessert. I've done a few minutes on the min-elliptical and think I'll do some bowling for a bit. Will check back later.
-
Has she ever had a migraine??? Can you take her to the ER??
-
Ethan has arrived and he's just bowled a 107 on the Wii. It's amazing to watch him. It's too cold to go outside and I know his hand eye coordination getting really good. He knows how to zip through all the controls to get the game and Mii he likes. He keeps saying.. I did it.. I did it!
-
Good Morning, Violets.. Anybody else have 16 below zero temps this morning?? hmmmmmmm I didn't think so. Cover our ears, Michelle.. Holy CRAP!! it's cold out there!!! I just boosted the heat to 68 in the house. I keep it at 65 at night. It's comfortable in here, but when I went to let Jetta in from outside and put her in the garage, it felt darn chilly. I checked weatherbug and thought.. oh, 16 isn't bad... but then I looked closer and it was MINUS 16 and that's regular temp. With the wind chill it's -25!!!Yikes!! Ethan arrives in a few minutes and will be here for the day. He's mastered bowling on the Wii, so I know what we'll be doing today. Sure is too cold to go outside and play. Going to go fix some breakfast. Everyone have a great day!!

152 Days till the Violet Reunion Bandiversary Bash and 1st ever Violet Baby Shower! -
I used heavy cream every year in kindergarten when we made butter. You shake it enough and it becomes buttermilk and then separates into real butter and a thin white liquid. We'd use the homemade butter on cornbread. But heavy cream is usually used to make real whipped cream. It has no sugar in it, but very rich in fat. When I whip it in the magic bullet with frozen strawberries.. it makes something similar to a homemade ice cream. I also use heavy cream in my chocolate mousse.. which I'm not making again until I'm sure I can resist it!!! Jane.. when I made the soup, I had ham left from Christmas and just ground it up in the Magic Bullet. I'd never eaten tofu in my life, but I found out I liked it.. at least in that soup.

Good evening, Violets.. The Bobster has arrived at his destination 4 hours away and I'm sitting here by myself. I went back to church this afternoon and got music put away and picked out the Easter anthem. I have two ladies with eye problems, so I enlarged music for them. I came home and had my dinner.. 1 cup Walmart ham salad with mandarin orange segments and soy nuts added and 1/4 cup of frozen strawberries with 3 Tbl. heavy cream and Splenda buzzed up in the Magic Bullet. I'll have my 2nd liter of water this evening while I watch Desperate Housewives. I got the gym cleaned up and now can do my glider without hitting suitcases. PamELa.. I could no sooner pb in the sink than you can in the toilet, I guess. Toilet is the place for me. Just bending down close to the thing helps to get the gag reflex going. I haven't pb'd in a long time. Maybe only once or twice since the 2nd of Jan. Everyone have a good evening. Ethan comes at 8 tomorrow morning for the day so Grandma needs to get to bed early!
-
Ahhhhhhh back from church and now free for the rest of the day. Laura... the lamp is very, VERY cute!! Carson has a talented mommy.. Tracy.. the scale can be your best friend or worst enemy. My numbers were up a pound today, but I know I'm eating right and getting some exercise, so I'm not going to sweat it. I'm going to wait til next Sunday to weigh in again and give the good eating a chance to show up. I can't believe how much better I feel and how much better my clothes fit with just those 10# gone. I put on panty hose today and they stayed in place.. no sudden rrrrrrrrrrrroll downs at the top. Piehole report Breakfast: 1/2 cup ham salad with mandarin orange segments and soy nuts Lunch: 1 cup Russian soup minus the potatoes Few bites of the Bobster Mongoglian beef 1/2 tiny spring roll 1 liter water I'm going to make it my mission to clean out the "gym" upstairs and do some exercising today. We have luggage strewn all over from the last few trips and odds and ends on the floor, so once that is cleaned up, it will be easier to work my glider and elliptical. Off to help Bob pack for his trip. Everyone have a good afternoon.
-
Good Morning, Violets.. Not much to report except to say hey. I'm up getting ready for church. The Bobster leaves today for his overnight trip and I will be lazy this afternoon. I'll take my nap and then try and get some reading in. I have yet to crack my new Stephen King book. Everyone have a good day... That's a beautiful dog, Terry. So sad when one has to be put down.

153 Days till the Violet Reunion Bandiversary Bash and 1st ever Violet Baby Shower! :w00t: -
Good evening, Violets.. I'm back from dinner out with my lapbanded friend. She made a jumbalya kind of soup that was very good. She made rice and kept it separate so I didn't need to deal with it. She made corn muffins and I skipped them. They had strawberries and ice cream for dessert and I just had the strawberries. Other than that I had some tuna salad with mandarin oranges and soy nuts and some frozen strawberries whipped up in my magic bullet with some heavy cream and splenda. I did some bowling on the Wii today and about 5 minutes on my gazelle. I was just lazy today. The Bobster leaves for out of town again tomorrow so I have no excuse not to do some serious exercise. I'm so anxious for the scale to be down below 173. That will be my lowest since being banded. I think I was down to 170 for one day, but jumped right up after that. And kept going, unfortunately. I'm so glad I did the 5 day pouch test. That's what got me back on track. I don't know why.. maybe I was just ready for it. Suzie.. the sweater looks great!!! Love the colors.. Laura... I dreamed about putting wallpaper borders up last night and then eating some rich, gooey dessert. As long as I keep it in my dreams, I'm fine. lol And FYI.. the border didn't stick on the wall in my dreams either!!! Off to bed and then church in the morning. Everyone have a good evening. Sleep well.

Suzie.. you saved me last night. We had to take Ethan with us to the restaurant because his dad was working late. I ordered my deep fried walleye (I take off the crust and only eat the meat. The fish is much more moist when it's deep fried rather than pan fried)l. I got french fries with the fish because I figured Ethan would eat them. Well, his dad came and picked him up before the food arrived.. so there I was with an order of fries staring at me. I thought of you and your 2 little fries and I pushed those evil things away and just ate the fish. Score one for Suzie and Judy!! I had a few bites of salad and my fish and that was it for dinner. I came home and made a concoction of frozen raspberries, strawberries, mandarin oranges, half a banana and some heavy cream and stuck it in the magic bullet with some Splenda. It's my daily treat now. I had a few spoonfuls of it and put the rest in the freezer and had it for breakfast this morning. Yes, Tracy, I'm at my lowest weight since getting the band and am on my way to goal.... again. I know I could slip at any time, but for now, it feels like I just got the band and I'm being really anal about what choices I'm making. No sugar, lo-carb and strict portions. I'm really looking forward to lunch.. tuna salad, mandarin orange segments and soy nuts. My new favorite meal. Ethan might come in a few minutes if his dad doesn't get out of work before his mom has to go in. I thought I had the day to myself, but it's overtime for Joe, so I'm not going to complain. I'll try and be good and check in each day ...sorry to worry you. Things are going very well and I hope for good things for everyone on here.
-
Good morning, Violets.. Been MIA because of same o, same o. Ethan keeps me super busy when he's here and he's here just about every day. Eating continues to be good and don't want to bore you with details when you are struggling. So I view the posts everyday. Just not much to say right now. Everyone keep the faith.

Hello, anyone from Northern Michigan.
Teachlady replied to mechillemybell64's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's about 2 hours from me... farther than I thought. There were no support groups here in my area, so I put a notice in the paper and started my own. We have about 10-15 people in attendance once a month here. There definitely is a need for the group!! Good luck with your lapband.. Both my husband and I had it done and we'd do it again in a heartbeat! -

I watched her yesterday on the View and just knew she was going to get nailed by the media. She sure didn't do it on purpose, but she sure didn't think about the cameras!!! lol

Hi Mechille... I live in Alpena and had my surgery done in Port Huron. They accept medicare and medicaid there too and the doctors there do only lapband and are just the best. Where do you live?? I run a support group here in Alpena. It sounds like you live close to me according to the mileage you wrote. -

Off to choir and then out to dinner with our friends. Will check back in when I return.. PamELa.. I think you need to move to a cooler climate... My cold lasted a couple of days with Zicam and then it was gone. There are some good things about cold weather!
