Laura.. are you trying to tell us something??
-
Good afternoon, Violets.. Well, the baptism is over and it went well. When Bob got to church, Tom (the minister) asked how he was. Bob said... "to tell you the truth, I'm upset". Bob proceeded to tell him how he felt, not getting any information. The excuse was just as I thought.. Tom said he sent Bob an email. Bob never got it and told him. When Tom asked what email address and Bob told him hotmail, he said.. "oh, the church computers have problems sending to hotmail accounts." WELL.. wouldn't you CALL and make sure everything was set BEFORE the service??? Bob was so flustered, that he forgot to turn off his cell phone and of course during the service he got a call.... from the minister of his former church. He was mortified and threw the phone in my direction so I could take it to the music room nearby. Grady was awesome... no tears at all until everyone laid hands on him and then just a little cry and it was done. Bob did a very good job even though he had to read "stuff". Bob's style is totally different from Tom's. Tom reads everything out of the book of worship. Bob knows what needs to be said and changes it for every baptism. I sang my song and got through to to very last note before I got weepy. The last line of the song is.... "and we will smile when people say to us... your children are so much like you". The song is about modeling good works for our children. Welllll... with Kris and Joe sitting in the front pew, instead of holding the last note out for 4 beats, I only made it for 1.5 before I choked up. It was a good service and the party at Kris's was fun too. I posted pics on Facebook. Bob left to play golf and I'm just chillaxing now. I have my hospital shift in the morning and if Joe works, then Ethan will be here from 8-5. I have rehearsal for Community Chorus starting tomorrow evening. Now I have rehearsals 4 nights a week. What's wrong with this picture???? Oh well, I'd rather be busy than bored. Ok..enough for this novel. That's to make up for it being so quiet in here. Course I couldn't get in for a while cause the site was down. Everyone have a good evening..

208 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
-
Good evening, Violets.. I'm back and the drive was just beautiful. The colors were awesome. I posted some pix on Facebook. Everything was pretty much sold out. I was disappointed with the selection. I got a couple of long sleeve tee shirts for Kris and I to wear as pj tops. Also got a gift for a Violet for the gift exchange. Wonder who it will be...... I just finished making the pasta salad for the luncheon tomorrow. Now to wrap Grady's present. Still no word from the pastor on exactly what Bob will be allowed to do. He hasn't emailed the forms that Kris and Nathan are to fill out either. Great follow through, as usual. Tomorrow is Children's Sabbath. The congregation has donated lots of things to put in backpacks for children who have to live in shelters. We'll assemble everything after church during fellowship hour. I'm singing a solo in church. Just hope I can make it through without crying! Bob and Joe are on their way back from Ann Arbor. U of M won big time, so they are happy. They should be home in a couple of hours. Off to watch tv and surf the net. Everyone have a great evening.. sleep well.

Good morning, Violets.. The Bobster and Joe left for Ann Arbor at 5 this morning. Game is at noon. It's a 4 hour drive and they've never been there before so they'll be hunting for a parking spot. Should be tons of people there. Bob said that 3X the number of people who live in Alpena will be in the stadium watching the game. I'm headed north to quiet little Mackinaw City. Should be a beautiful drive. I'm going to take the camera and get some pics of the fall colors. When I get home I need to make a Pasta salad for the baptism get together tomorrow. No word from the pastor about what Bob's role is in the ceremony tomorrow. Also no forms emailed to me that Nathan and Kris have to fill out. That's how this guy works. Will be interesting to see how things pan out tomorrow. I was up at 4 this morning... I couldn't get to sleep cause my brain was working overtime. Went back to bed and slept a few more hours and am now ready to hit the road. Everyone have a great day!! Will check in when I get home. No after effects from the fall yesterday except I had to change my watch to my right arm. When I fell I got a big bruise where my watch dug into my left arm. Owie. Nose is fine though. I was wishing it had been broken and then I'd ask for plastic surgery while they were at it to make it a normal sized, perky nose. Sighhhh not gonna happen.

Yikes, Suzy... congrats on getting the job, but whew....better you than me! Getting up for a 4 a.m. job is bad enough, but then to have to unload a truck and get the merchandise out.. wow. But at least it's not every single day. You get to rest up on the off days. And you are so right.. you do what you have to do! I'm waiting for the Bobster to finish his round of golf so we can figure out what to do for dinner. He suggested roasted goose poop since there is much of it on the golf course, but I said.. ummmm no, don't think so! I worked outside today and got my shrubs pruned and the hot tub filled up and all my artsy fartsy stuff cleaned out of the gardens and put away for the winter. Unfortunately when I was doing that, I fell somehow and hit my nose on a paving brick. It didn't bleed and isn't broken or swollen, but it aches. I got a few scrapes on my arms, but other than that, I'm fine. Just had a good cry and then the boo boos were better. Bob and Joe are going to Ann Arbor tomorrow to watch the U of M football game. I decided I'm going to Mackinaw, 2 hours way, to hit the end of the season sales. I need a couple sweatshirts and long sleeved tee shirts. Their stores close up for the winter and they always have good deals the last weekend. The golfers are back, so better see what's for supper. Everyone have a good evening..

210 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!

Good morning, Violets... Lazy, chilly day here today. No Ethan so we'll work out in the backyard and hopefully have it all ready for winter. The flute performance went well last night except for being in a very low lit, chilly big room. The plus was the chocolate covered strawberries. I needed some fruit. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! One week from today, Laura!! Can't wait for you to be able to get back to your losing ways. Except for the strawberries, I've been doing very well on my eating. Just haven't been getting in the exercise like I did when the pool was open. I just can't seem to get motivated yet. The Bobster got his new red, Dell laptop yesterday so he's a happy camper. I said to him last night.. you realize we are two people with 5 computers, right?? Ahhhh technology. You can see where our priorities lie. I was very disappointed in Project Runway last night. The wrong person went home. Anybody else watch that show? Off to find some breakfast and play some Bejeweled on Facebook. Everyone have a great day. Will check in later. Yikes... just checked Weather Bug and it's 29 degrees out. No wonder the furnace is running... and running... and running...

We had one episode of "snain" the other day.. raining and snowing, but nothing since. We've had snow in October before, but I'm hoping it holds off until December!! Wishful thinking on my part.

Working out can delay periods also. (gym workouts, not the kind you do in bed):tt2::sneaky:

This is my go to soup for chilly Fall days.. Brown 2# lean ground beef... drain fat. Add 1 box 26 oz. beef stock 1 large can tomato soup plus 1 large can water 2 T. brown sugar Add any veggies you want. To be really easy, I add a large can of Veg-all., but you can add potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, whatever you want. I also add 1/2 head cabbage chopped Salt and pepper to taste Throw in assorted herbs and spices I put in: 1/4 cup dried parsley 1 tsp. basil 1 tsp. margoram 1/4 cup dried onion flakes 1 tsp. bay leaf I just go by whatever smells good.. lol I put this to boil and then reduce to simmer for about an hour. I'm sure you could do the same in the crockpot on low.

Ethan is here for an hour while his daddy goes job hunting. Sure hope he finds something. This hit and miss with his job now is the pits. Here is a link to another lapband "athletic supporter".. Choose the one that says Ex-NFL player tackles weight loss. Today Show Video Player I will post the soup recipe, but just remember, I go by gosh and by golly on the measurements.. Off to watch Go Diego Go!!

Good morning, Violets.. Suzy...hope things work out at Target. Every little bit helps, right?? Janie.. yes, you brown the hamburger, drain off the fat and then add the soup stuff. I put in beef broth, a large can of tomato soup and then veggies including cabbage. I add spices too, salt, pepper, marjoram, basil, parsley, anything that I think smells good.. lol Glee was sooooo funny last night and so was Modern Family. I have a rehearsal at 3, dinner out with the group at 4 and then playing for a college reception from 5-7. Looks like my afternoon and evening are planned. It's really dark and dreary out right now. Leaves are all falling.. a typical Fall day in northern Michigan. It's 35 degrees right now. I just turned the furnace up to 65. Off to find some breakfast. Everyone have a great day. Will check back later.

Good evening, Violets.. Loving Glee tonight.. and got to switch over and watch a bit of Modern Family. What a stitch that is too! Choir was semi-ok tonight. Sure not the fun evening I used to have. At least I got to see Grady for a half hour. Gramma moussed his hair up a little bit.. ;o) He's such a cutie. Going to watch the end of Glee and then go read The Help for a bit. Michelle... back away from the cake!!!! I made some killer hamburger soup today. The Bobster says it's the best I've ever made. I just threw in this and that and some spices and it turned out pretty darn good! I hope there is enough left for lunch tomorrow! Everyone have a good evening. sleep well..

212 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!

Good morning, Violets.. Lazy day here today. No Ethan and no meetings until 5 tonight. I have a couple of checks to deposit and have to get some dog food and tuna. Nice combination, eh? Think I'll work on the living room today. I dropped my wireless mouse last night and the top flew off and I can't find it. Maybe if I do some real good cleaning it will show up. Read some more of my book last night and am really enjoying it. Hope everyone has a great day! Will check back later.
-
Forgot to say, I love Glee, but this week, I'm going to be switching back and forth between that and Modern Family. I hear that's really good too. We don't have a way to tape anything so I have to make a choice or flip flop.

I had 4 children and was never a stay at home mom. I think I would have gone crazy. I loved my job and we had a wonderful neighbor babysitter and of course the Bobster was able to be there to get the kids off to school, plus his mom and dad were able to babysit after they moved to Alpena. I don't feel I missed any major events with them and we would not have survived financially without my income. And now it's providing a nice pension and health insurance. I keep telling Kris she is blessed to be able to stay with Grady. Nathan makes 3X more a year than I ever did teaching, even after 32 years. And Laura, you're blessed to have Carson with you while you work. I did laundry today and cleaned up the kitchen. Went to Penneys and got some shirts for me and Bob while they were on sale. Guess what... it was "snaining" when I was out. Snow/rain mix. It was little ice crystals when I got in the car. YIKES!! Off to a rehearsal and the Bobster should be home when I get back. Haven't seen him all day!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Back from my meeting and luncheon. Had a good time and got to talk with another pastor's wife before the group got there. She knows what is going on and was offering support. I asked if the pastor's wife knew how serious this was and she said yes,she had mentioned that if things didn't get better they would have to look elsewhere. I'm keeping that thought in my prayers for the good of the church. I'm home now, obviously, and trying to decide what to do next. I need to get some things done in the backyard and I need to do some cleaning in the house. Decisions, decisions. Haydee... I love any kind of cake.. another obvious statement!! I'll eat whatever you have there..just make sure it's purple.:w00t: Laura... how's the twiddling going??? I just ordered another book on the Kindle.. Narrow Dog to Indian River. It was recommended to me by a British friend I met on our very first cruise. His son rowed across the ocean and set some kind of record so he's into boat stories. This one is supposed to be good. I'll get into it after The Help. Off to go read a bit and then decide my fate for the afternoon. Later, ladies!

213 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!

Good morning. Violets. I slept pretty good last night, in spite of everything going on. The Bobster left at 6 this morning for his meeting. Just talked to him on the phone and he's about an hour from his destination. He'll have the meeting, lunch and then be on his way home again. He should be home about 6 and I'll be on my way to rehearsal at 7. PamELa.. what a coincidence that we are reading the same book!!! I'm enjoying it so far. Michelle.. enjoy your relaxing morning. Congrats to your DS for the great GPA!! Off to get some breakfast, make my final payment on the cruise and get dressed for my meeting and luncheon. Everyone have a great day. Be good to yourselves. Ohhh.. no snow outside when I woke up, but temp is 35 and the leaves are really coming down now. I miss my pool!!!!

Good evening, Violets. I wrote a long post this afternoon and it went poof, so I gave up and closed up the puter. I left here at 2:30 for a 3:00 church meeting. The staff all met with the "babysitter" for the pastor. We told him exactly how we all felt and we all talked for an hour and 20 minutes. If he doesn't know how we feel and what we are up against by now, he'll never know it. They have agreed to a 6 month program where the "babysitter" will mentor the pastor and try and get things to turn around. I think it is just ridiculous, a lost cause and I'll be glad to be done in June. It is very yucky weather outside right now. 37 degrees and raining. I bet it will be snow by tomorrow morning. The Bobster leaves to go out of town for the day. I'm meeting with the Presbyterian pastor's wife an hour before our PMS luncheon. She wants to know how I'm doing with all the turmoil. I don't know how much I'll tell her, but at least she'll know I'm not happy. I had a great eating day today in spite of everything else. I had a small cup of mandarin oranges for breakfast, lobster bisque for lunch and canadian cheese soup for supper. Nothing in between. The only thing I didn't get in was some exercise. I hope to get some walking in tomorrow after my meetings. Laura, so glad to hear you're going to get the revision done. And I had to chuckle at your description of your grandpa. Carson's pics are just adorable. I can't believe he didn't win the calendar contest. And I'm not going to say a word about your twiddle dee dee.... Off to read my new book on the Kindle.. The Help. Everyone have a good evening. Sleep well!
