    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Ethan is watching Sesame Street and I'm waiting for the Bobster to get home with some sugar..... noooooooo, not that kind!! The kind for baking. I'm making banana bread today. Can't stand to waste those bananas. Ethan is 3.5 years old and Kindergarten is wayyyy off. I'll have 2 more years of babysitting and then I'll be done!!!!! Thank goodness Kris is a stay at home mom or I'd be babysitting more. I really love my grandkids, but I also love my free time. I can get so much more done without Ethan here. But it's a big help to Joe and Jen not to have to worry about day care fees, so I'm glad to help them out. "dragging your uterus everywhere"... LMAO at that one!! Heather... Grady has been teething for months now. He has 5 teeth now and hopefully there will be a little breather before the next ones come in. Grady's hair is getting a little long... sorry Laura...he's going to have to get a hair cut before long. Not to worry.. our Joe and Ethan didn't have hair until they were over a year old. 44 degrees right now and a beautiful day. Bob is going to burn the last of the leaves today and we have to take the dogs in to the groomer. Choir tonight for me. I'm anxious to hear how things went with the staff at church today. We have our annual Thanksgiving dinner after church on Sunday, but I'm not sure I'll stay for it. Bob will be preaching at another church so he won't be with me and all that food just makes it difficult to be a good bandster. Off to bake the bread..

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good morning, Violets... A frosty, Fall morning once again, but at least no snow yet. Ethan arrives any minutes for the day, so I'll be a busy Gramma. I got to ride my bike for 40 minutes yesterday. It was such a beautiful day. I'll have to figure out what I can do today with Ethan here. Might have to have Bob watch him while I walk the mall. Ooops.. Ethan just got here. Gotta run!! BBL..

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good morning, Violets.. Another beautiful, sunny, Fall day here. 26 degrees, but no snow in the forecast. That will make it a shorter winter this year. We had snow on the ground by this time last year. We're going out to finish hanging the Christmas lights and then finish burning the last of the leaves in the side yard. Ethan comes at noon for the day and I have singing rehearsal tonight. Lots of emails flying back and forth about church stuff. Things are going to come to a head very soon now. Not soon enough for me!! Michelle.. enjoy your day at school today! Haydee....hope your hair tones down a bit for you! Janie...have a good day at work Laura...Grady has 5 teeth now and is crawling all over and standing up on everything. Look what you have to look forward to!!! PamELa, Heather and Suzi and anyone I might have missed... have a great day!

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good morning, Violets.. Another beautiful day here. It's 27 degrees out, but the sun is shining and there is no snow! I have my volunteer shift at the hospital today and then Ethan comes at noon. Grady comes at 6:30 and I have Community Chorus rehearsal at 7:30. Somewhere in there I need to walk the mall. I was totally lazy yesterday. I didn't do any of the things I had planned. I took a nap instead. Church went ok. He finally, FINALLY had a pretty good sermon. But there are so many other issues, the sermon is the least of them. The next Board meeting is Dec. 14. That will be a really tense one. Michelle.... when you don't take your little pills you won't get rid of the headache... or you'll get pregnant. My mom gave money to Schuller so I'm betting she got the magazine. Off to dry and curl my hair and get dressed for the day. Everyone make it a good one!! BBL....

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good morning, Violets.. St. Antler's day here today. All the hunters are out in the woods hoping to get that trophy buck. Joe and Nathan will be out all day. It's another beautiful, Fall day here. Usually we have some snow by now. The hunters like that for tracking the deer. No snow predictions for this week. I got up early today to get ready for church. It should be very interesting as the Pastor and the Board got the letter from the staff. Wonder if anyone will say anything to us about it today. Off to fix some breakfast and get scrubbed and ready. Everyone have a great day. Be good to yourselves.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good evening, Violets.. Back from Kris and Nathan's. She made dinner for all of us. Joe is there so he can spend the night and go hunting with Nathan tomorrow. Ethan is with us until his mom picks him up after work about 10 p.m. Support group was very good today. We had 4 lap banders and 4 bypass people. Lots of interesting conversation. Anybody have problems with their band setting off the sensors at the airport?? Bob's did and so did another lady from the group. I didn't think that happened since there is no metal in the band. Interesting. We got more leaves burned and got the shed mostly cleaned out. Just a few more things to rearrange in there and then we'll be done. I'm heading to bed soon. Church in the morning and I'm dreading it. Everyone sleep well. Michelle.. are you feeling better today??? Hope so!!!

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

I forgot to mention. I was never baptized until our wedding rehearsal evening. My parents were both Christians. My mom was raised Baptist, but both Mom and Dad were deaf and church services just aren't the same when you can't hear and don't know what is being said. My mom loved it later in life when they came out with captioned tv. She got to "listen" to Robert Schuller at the Crystal Cathedral. Not my favorite, but hey, she was happy!!

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good morning, Violets... Busy day today...support group, shed cleaning, leave burning, biking and babysitting. Laura...re; your questions.. yes, some churches will do baptisms for non-members, but usually there are 1-2 counseling sessions about the meaning of baptism. Because baptism symbolizes the unification of the child with the church universal, it is rarely done privately and is most often done as part of a worship service. It is done privately when there are extreme circumstances, such as the health of the child or parent. If by blessing and christening you don't mean baptism, but an earlier service performed by churches that baptize later in life, basically the same criteria apply. If you don't belong to a church, why have Carson baptized, as it is not a "magical rite", but most people understand it as a recognition and proclamation of God's love that already exists. Ethan is not baptized. Joe and Jen do not go to church so they have never considered it. It makes me sad, but I also know Ethan is loved as much by God baptized or unbaptized. If you want to pursue this, Bob suggests a main-line church such as Methodist, Presbyterian or United Church of Christ, but know that the baptism would more than likely be during a worship service. However you might be able to find one that is willing to do a private baptism. (These are all comments from Bob. I wouldn't have had a clue what to tell you!) And don't forget there is always Rev. Doctor PamELa!!! Off to start the day...have a great one!!
  15. I have been on every diet imaginable. I'd lose weight, feel great and then allow myself to gain it all back plus more. It was a never ending yo yo process. I knew my last resort was surgery. I also knew I didn't want gastric bypass because of various issues. I chose lap band and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have lost 60# and have kept it off, going up and down a few pounds. I know my tool is there to always remind me what I can and can't eat. I don't fear regaining everything and can not recommend it highly enough to those that have tried everything without success.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!! And Zumba Gold is PERFECT!!! It's only a half hour and we do some of the same stuff the regular Zumba-ers do, but not so intense. I really, really enjoyed it! I was actually one of the younger ladies there so that tells ya how old the rest of them were!!! Afterwards Becky asked me how it was and I said, just great and I would stick with the Friday class. She said she'd miss me in the Thursday class. I said she'd be calling 911 if I tried to do what they were doing. Off to the showers to get ready for the church ladies luncheon. hmmmmmm wonder what the topic of discussion will be today...?? No feedback on the document we sent to the board yesterday other than one board member saying it needed to be sent to the Pastor too. There is no joy in Mudville lately. But the Zumba really cleared my mind and got me pumped for the day. I had a few bites of a breakfast burrito before I left and took the rest with me, but knew as soon as I got down the road, that I needed to pb. As soon as I got to the gym, I headed for the bathroom and up it came. Soooo at least I didn't have that sitting in my throat during class. I hope to take a walk with Ethan today. It's so beautiful out. Only 37 degrees, but the sun is shining and there isn't a hint of snow. That calls for a wooooo hoooooo when you live in Northern Michigan.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good morning, Violets.. I'm up early to get ready for Zumba Gold this morning. I sure hope it works better for me. I love the exercise, but my knee keeps reminding me how old I really am. Michelle.. Purple power surrounding you today. I'll be thinking of you while you're at the docs. And don't forget to take pics of the new do! Off to have a little breakfast before I go Zumba-ing. I have a luncheon with church ladies at 11:30 so just enough time for a shower in between, thank goodness, or I'd have to sit at a table by myself. Everyone have a great day. Be good to yourselves.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good evening, Violets.. PamELa... sorry to hear about your fridge.. Did you vacuum the coils??? Zumba was a challenge again tonight, but good news.. they are offering a Zumba Gold class starting tomorrow at 9. It's for old farts. I'm going to go and see what it's like and see if it might suit me better. I did 45 minutes again tonight, but feel bad that I can't do all the jumping and hip hopping. My knee just can't take that. Hopefully the Zumba Gold will be more my style. Also I'll be able to babysit Grady on Thursday nights, though won't be able to go to class with Kris. But she does really well with it all and loves it, so she won't miss me being there with her. Off to watch some tv including CSI and Project Runway. Everyone have a good evening. Sleep well.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Well, the letter to the Board is sent. Now just sit back and wait to see the results. PamELa... hope you get the fridge fiasco resolved quickly. Haydee...I didn't have that much that I couldn't afford to lose... just the Microsoft Money program and I have that saved on a scandisk.. 1 GB. You can get them for less than $20 at Walmart or any store like that. I burned all the pictures to a CD. Everything else I can restore if I lose it except for my outlook express email addresses. I know there's a way to import them from another computer so I'll have to look into that. Other than that, I've saved what I need. Heather... beans and I do not make nice. I eat chili with no beans, nachos without refried beans and absolutely no bean soup...yuck. And the bobster and I do not agree on 99% of the things in our life, but we've been together for 40.5 years so it must be true that opposites attract. Had some deli turkey and cheese for lunch. Steamfresh meal for supper. I got 10 coupons from ebay for bogo Steamfresh meals. I got 8 packages for the price of 4 last night and got $5 off 10 boxes of drink mix. Sweet!!!! Zumba in 3 hours. Time to take another Tylenol.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good evening, Violets.. Got a lot done today and choir went very well. We are redoing a Christmas Cantata this year. Only problem is, we don't have any kids to do the tableau we usually do.. Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Kings, Wisemen, Angels. We can't do any of that because we don't have any kids anymore. So sad.. We'll just have to figure out some different way to portray the Christmas message. Had supper with several choir members. Discussion revolved around the letter I wrote and to which the other staff added their thoughts. Things are going to start happening pretty soon. Glee was so awesome tonight. I didn't get to see all of it.. just the last half hour, but it was just fantastic. I LOVE the song Defying Gravity and they did it so well. And the story line about the developmentally disabled people was touching. LOVE that show!! No Modern Family because of the CMA's. Watching CSI:NY and then heading to Walmart to use my coupons from Ebay. Ethan arrives at 8 tomorrow morning and I have Zumba in the evening. Going to take my Tylenol and put on my brace and have fun!!! Everyone have a good evening.. sleep well! Janie.. you ok?????

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Got my puter back!!! We have to order a hard drive next month. arghhhh Dell uses a cheapo one in this model, I guess. We worked in the backyard and garage all day today and then I took a 45 minute bike ride. Off to choir rehearsal in a few minutes. I got the draft done for the report to the Board about the retreat. It ain't pretty!! But no, PamELa.. I didn't use any profanities. But I sure was thinking them! And today at church, my friend said that the pastor didn't say one word about the retreat.. not even a good morning to the staff. He is so totally clueless. I can't begin to tell you how frustrating it is. But I know this is the beginning of the end. If he stays, I go. Off to direct the choir and then out to dinner with them. At least there are still some bright spots about church. Everyone have a great evening. Glee and Modern Family tonight!! Oh, and Laura.. God put me on hold, so I couldn't get an answer for ya..
