    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good evening, Violets.. I've been in bed all day. Got up feeling queasy and dizzy so I took a motion sickness pill and went back to bed. I slept until 3 this afternoon. Luckily we did not have Ethan and I had no appointments or meetings today. I wrote the eulogy for my friend that will be delivered by the head of the teacher's union on Saturday. I think I am just stressed out about everything and my body needed to recharge. I haven't had anything to eat today so I guess that's a good thing. Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow. We are going to Kris's at noon for the rest of the day and evening. Then we leave for our get away Friday morning and won't be back until Monday afternoon. Love and hugs to you all!!!

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good morning, sweet Violets... Ethan has arrived and after "reading" the newspaper with Grampa, he's now working on his Leap's Pond book. I'm always happy when the tv isn't on, but I know he'll be asking for cartoons soon. I usually put it on Sesame Street for as long as possible before he wants SpongeBob or any of those other crazy things. I have nothing planned for today except a hair appointment this afternoon. I know I'll be talking church stuff with my hairdresser as she is a member of the church who has left because of the pastor. After that, the only thing I have is singing rehearsal. We have a concert with the symphony on the 6th of December so we're rehearsing all Christmas music right now. Time is flying by, isn't it??? I have my Secret Santa stuff all ready to go and Ethan is taken care of. The four older grandkids are getting gift cards and I have to buy for Amelia yet. The Bobster and I are just going to exchange one gift as our big gift to each other is the cruise in January. Off to make some breakfast and get dressed. Everyone make it a good one!!

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Today is another day and we keep on keeping on! We went to Mio last night and met with the family and then went to the school and met with the staff. There were lots of hugs, tears and laughter, just as it should be. The funeral is this Saturday. It's going to be huge because after 36 years of teaching, you know she touched many, many lives. She comes from a family of 6 siblings and has 6 step brothers and sisters. So the family section is going to have at least 65 seats. The staff is going to sit together so we'll all support each other. Things are moving on the pastor front. I see his days numbered and that's a good thing for the church. It's just taken so long to go through the process. There was a special meeting yesterday and there will be another one on the 2nd of Dec. At that meeting, they will make the decision of whether he stays or goes. I did my hospital shift today and now am waiting for my little guy to arrive. He'll be here til 5 and then Grady comes at 6. I have rehearsal tonight from 7:30- 8:30 so as usual I'll be a busy lady. And that's not all bad. Thank you all for the purple power and kind thoughts. That's what we're here for and I know that I can count on you to support me as you know you can count on me to support you through the good times and bad. Now.. for the eating... arghhhhhhhhhh!! I have been eating very little healthy stuff, but of course the junk goes down very well. Exercise has not happened since Friday so I need to kick it up again. It's a dreary, chilly day here today so no bike riding. I think I'll go upstairs and do the glider for a bit while Grampa watches Ethan. Everyone have a good day. Be good to yourselves.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Well, it was a hard time in church today. We always offer up prayers of the people and of course I offered one up for my friend, Kathleen. Well, I had a hard time getting through it without the tears and then I got to thinking of my brother who was a teacher and died at age 50 in the middle of a school year (Dec.11, 1995) and I couldn't keep it together. Thank goodness the choir was able to do the song for the prayer response with me directing with my eyes closed and just waving my arms. I hadn't really cried up to that point so I guess it just was time. I feel better now and am just waiting to hear the results of the special church board meeting. I just want all that hassle done, done, done too. Thanks for your support here and on Facebook. You all mean the world to me. Hugs to each and every one of you. (just a side note.. I got lots of hugs and support from my church family, but the pastor never said a word to me.)

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good morning, dear Violets.. Can't post much this morning. I have a headache and a heartache. They have asked Bob to do the funeral. We are going to meet with the family this afternoon. I love you all and yes... cherish the moments you have.... dance, sing, be kind to one another and love, love, love!

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good afternoon, Violets.. A really sad day here today. My good friend and colleague whom I taught with for 30 years passed away last night of a heart attack. She was in her late 50's and never got to see a day of retirement. Please keep Kathleen in your prayers along with her little kindergarteners who have lost a loving, mother figure. I'm just in shock.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good evening, Violets.. Well, another week over. On to the weekend. I have a funeral at the Episcopal church in the morning. I'm playing flute and singing in the choir. Then to our church for packing Thanksgiving baskets and delivering them to those who need them. Then I hope to get some walking in. Ethan was here until 1:30. I crashed on the couch at 1:15 and then went upstairs when he left and slept until 4. Kris came with Grady and we all went out to dinner. I had a 1/2 cup of clam chowder, a whitefish taco and several sweet potato fries. I treated myself to a hot chocolate when I got home. (with Mirilax..woo hooo). We just finished watching Monk and now I'm headed upstairs to read on the Kindle and then get some sleep. This week has been really stressful at church and the meeting on Sunday just might relieve some of that. Haydee.. just picture an old lady wearing bouncy shoes.. that'd be me. Nathan hunts deer. Kris and Nathan like the meat and I like only the sausage. He was raised a hunter and I'm sure Grady will be one too. Kris is called a hunter's widow cause Nathan spends every spare minute hunting during the season. She's left at home with Grady. She will go to Zumba tomorrow morning and then help pack the Thanksgiving baskets. She and a girlfriend are going out for dinner and the Bobster and I are going out for soup and salad at another couple's home. Off to read. Everyone have a wonderful weekend!!

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Busy day so far. I was up at 7:20 since Ethan comes at 8. Joe needed a ride to work so I got him at 8:15 and got home at 8:30 with Ethan. Left at 8:50 for Zumba. I wore my bouncy shoes and they were no problem. Zumba was great. I got a good work out for half an hour. They are going to start it up two days a week, but I can't go on Mondays since that is my hospital volunteer shift day. sighhh. Oh well, once a week is fine for me. I was movin' and shakin'. The ladies there seem to love it as much as I do. Home and fixed lunch. I had sliced deli turkey with swiss cheese melted on it plus a cup of spinach. Blueberries and cream for dessert. Right now I'm really , really tired and will probably snooze on the couch a bit while the Bobster watches Ethan. Kris is coming over tonight and we'll go out to dinner. Nathan is downstate hunting. Pretty Fall day here today. 48 degrees. That a veritable heat wave for this time of year! The bobster and I enjoyed :bored: the hot tub last night. It's not bad walking outside when the air temp isn't freeeeeezing!

Michelle... ya think this sentence was long enough???? All of the Violets still struggle with the weight, but we're all working on it in our own ways and the thing that binds us together is our friendship and you will always be the "mother" of the Violets because it was you who started this thread years ago and look at all of us who are still here!!

TRACY!!!!!!! Soooooooooo glad to see you posting here again. Great to catch up with you on all your news. Sounds like everything is falling in place for you and Robby aside from the obvious separation issues with him. But you did what was right for you and him and I give you all the credit in the world for that. I saw pics of your apartment and it looks wonderful. I'm sooo happy for you and now you can focus on the weight once again. You had way too much on your plate.. (no pun intended!!!) getting yourself and Robby to this better place. All of the Violets still struggle with the weight, but we're all working on it in our own ways and the thing that binds us together is our friendship and you will always be the "mother" of the Violets because it was you who started this thread years ago and look at all of us who are still here!! Kudos to you for bringing us together. :bored:

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

I would love to put our tree up, but I'm real leery of Grady. He crawls all over and pulls himself up on everything. I think I'll wait until after Thanksgiving when we get back from our 4 day weekend. I love the Christmas stuff, but our living room is small and the tree takes up a lot of space and then add a 3 year old and a baby.. yikes!! .. the makings of disaster!! We have lights along the roof line of the house. Just have to wait for some time to get the lights on the big tree in the front yard. I LOVE Christmas lights. That's why the tree and gazebo in the backyard are lit all year. Nothing like tiny white lights covering a tree... specially near the hot tub! Laundry is almost done. Ethan is laying on the couch resting for a bit until he gets his second wind. BBL........

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Well, I got the kitchen all spic and span and worked on the laundry room while doing laundry. I don't have the fancy, dancy washer and dryer like someone I know, but it works!! That's all I can hope for at this point. PamELa... I watched the clip and apparently I'm the only one with a computer with sound.. you sounded great!! Was it the guy in the white outfit that was drunk?? I think I told you all we are going to Kris's house for Thanksgiving. I don't have a dining room here and there would be no room for our family and Nathans. Kris's house is big so we meet there. There will be 12 -15 of us. My son that lives downstate won't be coming because my DDIL has work on Friday and the kids have school on Wednesday. It would be too long a trip just for one day. But they said they are coming up at Christmas. Haydee.. believe me, I'd much rather be the Gramma that comes in and out in a cloud of perfume, but, and I hate to say it, Joe and Jen don't take care of Ethan they way they should. They work all the time, yet don't make much money between them. But they don't check out day cares and they don't keep him up to date on doctor visits. I give him as much loving and education as I can here. You should hear the songs he sings and the sign language and the alphabet he knows. I'm really proud of him. Now if he could just learn to pee in the potty.. or as Gramma calls it... "Go Diego"!! (the potty seat has Diego on it.) I am so looking forward to Ethan going to Kindergarten. Then I'll have my life back, but that is 2 years away and they are looking at cutting back to a 1/2 day Kindergarten instead of all day because of budget cuts. arghhhhhhhh The Bobster is at the gym right now getting a tour and setting up a routine specifically for him. He finally decided he wasn't getting enough exercise, so he's going to start going there. I have Zumba on Friday morning now. I will watch Grady tonight while Kris goes to her Zumba class. Then off to flute rehearsal for me after that. I'm going to make pressure cooker chili today. It's a perfect day for it. I had an egg with toast this morning and could only eat a couple of bites. I had a mini bag of Fritos for a snack and then took my Tylenol arthritis pill and after a little bit, pb'd. Bob brought home a Big and Tasty from McDonald's and I ate half of that. I told him we could split one next time. Off to work on the living room and the toy room.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good morning, Violets.. Yuck... a rainy, dreary day here. Ethan will be here from 8-5, Grady from 5-7 and I have a flute rehearsal from 7-8:30. So you see how my day will go!! I'll be working inside today cleaning and doing laundry. The church Board is having a special meeting after church Sunday. I think things are coming to a head very quickly now. Modern Family and Glee were so good last night. I love those shows and wish they weren't on at the same time. I keep flicking the channel between them hoping not to miss anything. Ethan is here so I better get off and get him some breakfast. BBL...... Everyone have a great day! Oh.. the post on Facebook PamELa is talking about is.. our local Alpena TV news anchor called Palin's book... Going Rouge.... as in the makeup...

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Good afternoon, Violets... What an afternoon. Ethan and I walked 2 miles and it was an interesting walk with a 3 year old. We saw some bulldozers and he was thrilled. Before we left I had sliced the banana loaf and left it on the counter. When I got home from the walk, Jetta, the big dog had eaten 3/4 of the slices. Sooooooo I had to send the Bobster to Miller Street Bakery to get some lemon bars and date bars for the funeral reception tomorrow. arghhhhhhh Laura... don't know about Grady and water bottles, but Kris called today and said she had a screaming, OMG, Mommy moment today. She was on the floor reading through a cook book and looked up to see Grady with a dead mouse in his hands. Chloe, their cat had brought it up to him to show off her mouse catching skills. She said she has never gotten up off the floor that fast in her life. She got the mouse out of his hands and then scrubbed and scrubbed them. She doesn't know how long he had it in his hands and if he tried to ---gag--- put it in his mouth. She called Nathan and he just laughed. I said the bright side is that at least Chloe is a good mouser! I'm off to choir , then to a reception for an artist in town and then dinner. Everyone have a good evening!!
