83 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
-
Oh Michelle... You and I are definitely clones. February has been a horrible month for me as well. All the garbage at church that just seems to go on and on and on with no resolution, troubles with my son and his financial choices and trying to get our finances managable. It all just brings me down and I don't like feeling like this. If it had not been for the Lenten promise, I'd be eating non-stop right now. It's helping to keep my head in the game and definitely the "gliding" exercise puts me in a mellow place. I even did the whole 30 minutes at one time today. So yes, I totally understand where you are right now. We just have to try and be strong and know that food isn't going to solve any of the problems and will ultimately be another problem if we let it. So hang in there.. I'm trying too.. we all are!! HUGS!!!

84 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
-
Good morning, Violets.. It's a beautiful sunshiny day here today. 18 degrees, but who's counting. Oh.. I am.. I lost another pound so that's 2 since Wednesday. Sure is funny how the band works when you listen to it and add exercise!! Nothing on the agenda today except picking up some oranges from the Lions Fruit Sale. No Ethan, no Bob, no nuthin and the best part is.. I have a car again!!!! wooo hoooo!! Everyone have a great day today!!! Love you ladies!!
-
Good afternoon, Violets.. Back from lunch. I had a small bowl of mushroom/veggie soup with wild rice. It was a brothy soup rather than creamy... very yummy. AND, I did not eat one single oyster cracker. I didn't even open the packet. Had a good talk and then back home and outside in the snow with Ethan. We made snowballs and threw them at Jetta. She loves to snatch them and eat them! Then we played the "Gramma can push Ethan in the snow again and again" game. His mom should be coming any time now to pick him up and I get my car back FINALLY!! Their car has been out of commission for almost 2 months now. Course mom and dad had to foot the bill for the repair or it never would have gotten done, but at least I will have my vehicle again. Bob is in town filming a local TV show that he and the Epispocal priest in town started about 20 years ago. It's was called Christianity today and was a talk show dealing with today's topics and how Christians react to them. There is no more money for funding it, so they asked him to come back and do the final show giving a retrospective of the 20 years. Yes, I am married to a tv star. I shared a pear with Ethan.. who would have thought a pear could get stuck?? It's going down really slowly. Yup.. I still have a band!! Off to check Facebook and email and then out to dinner in a couple of hours. Everyone have a good evening!

We have a prayer shawl ministry at our church. I have one here at my chair all the time that my good friend, Betsy, our church organist and fluting buddy gave me. I love it. Your MIL will too.

85 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
-
Good morning, Violets.. I'm up waiting for Ethan to arrive. Joe just messaged and said they would be here at 9. I could have had an extra hour of sleep, but nooooooo. I couldn't sleep well last night. Too many thoughts racing in my mind. I read on the Kindle from midnight till 1 a.m. Tossed and turned after that. We watched the men's figure skating last night. It always makes me nervous because I don't like to see anyone fall. Evan did such a great job!! I'm going out to lunch with the chair of the church board. She and I are on the same page about the pastor so it should be a good visit. I weighed in this morning, but stayed the same. That's ok cause I know I ate well yesterday and did 36 minutes on the glider. I'm having a hot chocolate with Miralax right now. It will be my only sweet for the 40 days but I rationalize it because of the Miralax. We are going to Big Boy tonight for their seafood buffet. Should be interesting. I'm taking my lap band ID so I hope to be able to get the child's price. Off to Facebook and email. Everyone have a great day!!

Good evening, Violets... One more day coming to a close and 38 more to go!! Food report.. Supper...2 pieces very thin crust pizza...Italian carnivore.. lots of meat.. little cheese and sauce Exercise.... going up to do 15 minutes now and 15 minutes during Project Runway. Another good day and I plan on weighing in, in the morning. Haydee.. I checked out that site.. Deeevine!!! The rates are very reasonable too. Problem is getting a flight in.. couldn't find any right now. Just wanted to see what the flight costs might be. Horrible fire in Texas today.... so sad.. Everyone have a great night...sleep well!!

86 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!

Good morning, Violets.. I'm up early to greet Ethan when he arrives for the day. Well, I weighed in this morning and lost 1# so I'm happy with how day 1 went. I'm hungry this morning for the first time in a long time. Will have some tuna with soy nuts and mandarin oranges and will share with Ethan. I've trained him well! Got my 30 minutes of exercise in yesterday and will work at it again today. I had a friend of a facebook friend contact me about lap band back in September. I had not heard from him except once saying he had lost 19# so I emailed him the other day. Got a reply back today and he has lost 90#!! So it can be done. I just have to make these 39 more days count! PamELa.. glad to hear the taping went well. Keeping Sheila in my prayers today. Everyone have a good day! I'm sure gonna try!!!
-
Michelle.. will definitely keep Shelia in my prayers. Ash Wednesday service was very nice tonight. Gives me a whole new perspective on things. I had a cup of cheeseburger soup for supper and a couple of venison sausages. One day done with no sweets and lo carbs. 39 to go! Going to get 14 more minutes of gliding in before bed so I'll have my 30 minutes for the day. Everyone have a good night. Sleep well...
-
I decided against the blueberries for now and just had an orange. yums.. Believe me, I have done the partying and need to do the penance!! Will have ashes put on my forehead tonight and that will definitely be a reminder of a much bigger sacrifice than giving up sweets, carbs and slothfullness. Michelle.. saw a news report last night about the people who are really upset with the snow piles. The streets are pretty clear, but they can't get their cars out. Been there, done that.. don't need to do it this year!!

Shrove Tuesday is a term associated in English-speaking countries with the United Kingdom and its Anglican traditions, especially Canada, Ireland, Australia,[1] New Zealand, and parts of the United States[2] for the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of the season of fasting and prayer called Lent. The word shrove is the past tense of the English verb shrive, which means to obtain absolution for one's sins by way of confession and doing penance. There ya have it.. straight from the Net. I'm reporting in with my eats so far today. Got up at 9 and didn't eat breakfast.. some Catholics fast today, so that was my fasting..even though I'm not Catholic. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I did 16 minutes on my glider, then showered, dressed and drove Ethan's mom to work so I could have my car for early choir practice tonight. I'm trying to choke down lunch right now. 2 eggs scrambled with some shredded mozzarella cheese and some chopped bacon, fat removed. It's going down really slowly. I'll have some blueberries with a little cream for snack a little later. Supper will be soup at church before Ash Wednesday services. I'd like to get 10 more minutes of gliding in today, but not sure with Ethan here. I don't dare leave him downstairs by himself for 10 minutes and the room where the glider is, is really cramped. Oh well.. I'll figure something out. Michelle... the last two weeks are history. Today is a new day, a new week, a new motivation. I weighed in and am at 189. So glad not to see the 190 especially after all the "fat" stuff I ate yesterday. However I know it might show up tomorrow or the next day, so I'm prepared and won't be discouraged. Heather.. there are different recipes for paczki. I prefer the yeast ones. The cake ones are too.. well.. cakey. We get the ones with raisins or dates in. Bob likes the jelly filled. True they are just donuts.. but don't tell the ladies of St. Anne's church who made 750 dozen yesterday to sell to raise funds for the parish hall and scholarships!!! They worked from 3 a.m. til 2 p.m. ( and don't tell them I threw away the 4 that were left this morning). Off to check email and continue s l o w l y eating my eggs.

87 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
-
Good morning, Violets.. Well, it's here.. the first day of Lent. I need to weigh in this morning and then become a tried and true bandster again for at least 40 days. The Bobster and I shared a 3 Musketeer bar last night before going to sleep. That was after we each had a whole one when we got home. I tried to eat another paczki last night, but pb'd it. My band was getting irritated with me!! Today it's protein, protein, protein.. no sweets..and 30 minutes on the glider. I enjoyed watching the figure skating last night, but I get so nervous for them and hate it when they fall. Weir is definitely the Adam Lambert of skating. PamELa.. you'll do just fine with your taping today. With your personality, nobody will notice one tooth. Everyone have a good day. Ethan arrives at 11:30 so that's my day in a nutshell!
-
Good evening, Violets.. Off to my singing rehearsal. This is what my Fat Tuesday has looked like.. Breakfast.. 1 paczki Lunch...Cinncinati Chili (chili and spaghetti with all the toppings) Dinner...2 strips bacon, 1 dunkin' egg, 1 slice toast Snacks....1 1/2 paczkis, 1 small square sopaphilla cheesecake, handful of cashews, 3 pieces of hard candy, ice cream bar.. the night is still young.. could be more added to this Fat list. Exercise... none All that will be history tomorrow...new day... the start of 40 days of eating like I should and exercising. Will be interesting to see what the next 40 days will be like and what I will be like at the end of Lent. Everyone have a good evening. Rehearsal, Olympics, Kindle... that's my night!!
-
Whew!! Glad to see a happy Carson again!! Makes me smile when I see him. Just got back from the luncheon. I didn't stay to watch the gifts being opened, nor had any dessert....sigh. But came home and had a paczki. (polish donut specially for Fat Tuesday) Now it's stuck. Today is Fat Tuesday and I am going to exemplify the day! Tomorrow is day one of 40 days of no sweets, minimal carbs and no slothfullness. Ethan is here and doing fine. I bought him a Spiderman cartridge on Ebay for his V-Tech, but he left the V-Tech in the car so he's been bugging me ever since the cartridge came in the mail today. It's gonna be a longggggggg day!
-
Good morning, Violets.. Woke up to 3 inches of new snow this morning. Looks pretty out and I'm not complaining because we have not been dumped on like Michelle's neck of the woods. Michelle... let's hope Mo doesn't give up pooping for Lent!!! Glad to hear he's functioning on his own. Do your kids have to make up the missed school days at the end of the year?? I'm taking the sopapilla cheesecake to the luncheon today. Someone else is bringing brownies so I hope I don't have any leftovers to bring home.. Guess I could just leave them there.. cept Bob would be disappointed. He really loves that stuff. He can have it today, but tomorrow it's a no no. Ethan comes at 11:30 today. I think I'll help him brush his teeth today. Don't want any repeats of yesterday! Off to balance my checkbook and get ready for the boy. Everyone have a great day... OH... almost forgot. I dreamed we bought a new house and Bob and I were sitting down, he with his coffee cup, me with my juice and marveling at the house. Not sure where it was located, just that there was a little snow, but mostly warm year round. As we were sitting there, it suddenly dawned on me that we had not signed any papers.. didn't know how much the house cost.. none of the details. Bob said he could figure it out.. came out to $200,000. Then it dawned on me that we had to make payments!! And insurance!!! And utilities!!! And we didn't have the money for it. I said.. "Well, we can sell the cottage..... wait, we already did!". That's when I woke up. Soooooooooo, thank you very much, PamELa!!

88 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!

Forgot to mention. I made sopapilla cheesecake for Bob today. I was telling him how much the Violets loved it, but to tell you the truth guys, it really wasn't one of my favorites. HOWEVER...I used the recipe from allrecipies.com and it called for 3 (8 oz.) containers of cream cheese and one egg. All the rest of the ingredients were the same. OMG!! it was awesome. We each had a piece and I'm taking the rest to the luncheon tomorrow. After tomorrow, it's buh bye sweets!!
-
Jane... the fact that you are still trying to get out the predicament is GOOD!! Don't ever give up. We are here for you and I'm hoping for good things from this doctor. Glad your insurance pays for it all. And really glad that you will be seeing someone in person every couple of weeks. I'm sure this will be a good motivation for you. The lady from the Poison Control Center called back this evening to check on Ethan. He was just fine, thank goodness!! And Laura, I agree with Janie... you need to have a happy picture of Carson!! He's just so darn cute when he's happy. Going to watch some more of the Olympics and then head to bed to read a bit more on my book. Tomorrow Ethan comes at 11, I have a luncheon at noon and then rehearsal at 7. Another relaxing day!! Everyone have a good evening. Sleep well.
-
Michelle.. I keep forgetting to tell you.. great job on the hat!!
-
In case any of you have been wondering... the people at the Poison Control center are very nice. How do I know that, you ask?? Ethan was said he had to go pee so of course I congratulated him. He headed for the bathroom and was in there for quite a while. When I went in to check on him he had brushed his teeth... with Hydrocordisone-plus cream!!! He had an awful look on his face. I called the center and they said there shouldn't be a problem.. just keep him hydrated. He seems to be fine. I showed him where his toothpaste was and he said... "oh". It's fun being a Gramma!!! At least he won't itch on the inside of his mouth..

Kris told me the other day that Grady is getting in 3 more teeth at once. That will make 12 teeth by the time he is 12 months old March 3!!
