Great job with the signing, Laura! I always taught my Kindergarten students sign language and when they got me a scrapbook when I retired, there were so many comments in it about remembering learning the signs. It is something he can use for the rest of his life. btw... the sign for dog is patting the lap first and then the finger snap. :smile2: I showed Ethan because he had learned that sign too and he wanted me to play it over and over again. And Grady does the no headshake all the time. Can't get him to shake yes yet.. Soooooooooo cute!!! I love Carson's smile. What a cutie patootie!

79 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!
-
Michelle.. we posted at the same time! lol This will be day 8 for me of following the bandster rules for eating and exercise. I weighed and had gained a pound this morning...sighhhhh. I can't eat any less, but I guess I could exercise more, but I'm not going to let it get me down. That's what happens when I weigh every day. The chances for disappointment are compounded. I'll be in the pool today and tomorrow so I should be able to get a bit more exercise in. I just have to be careful with the eating, since I will be eating out. I CAN do this!!

Good morning, Violets.. We are off to Great Wolf Lodge with 2 kids, their spouses and 5 grandchildren. I'm hauling the big Stephen King book with me. I started it yesterday and it's really good. Course I love all his books. Janie.. I've never worked with chunks before. Maybe Michelle would know how to cook those. I would assume in a saucepan with a little water, boil till soft and then mash with butter, salt and pepper. Everyone have a great day. I need to go finish packing for the big adventure. Will be taking the camera and the Flip.

We LOVE butternut squash. Split it in half, scoop out the seeds, put both halves face down on a cookie sheet, (I use parchment paper to line the sheet) bake at 350 until it's soft.. probably 40 minutes or so. Scoop out the innards, mash up with butter, salt and pepper. Sooooo yummy!!!

Wooo Hoooo, PamELa.. so happy for you both!!!!
-
Me either.. but here's an idea. I don't have a mom anymore and never had a sister. I would love to be a daughter/sister on a trip to Disney. My kids wouldn't care where I went as long as I brought back presents.....soooooo I'll volunteer to go in your place, how's that??
-
Jane.. that's where I saw it too, in People magazine! Just finished it last night. It was ok, but I don't think I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars like they did. I'm tackling the new Stephen King book... Under the Dome. Bob got it in hardcover for me for Christmas. I've been so into the books on the Kindle, I haven't gotten around to starting it yet, but today is the day. Now I have to carry a big, old, heavy book around with me instead of the snappy, little Kindle.

Good morning,Violets. Just finished my 20 minutes of gliding. Now I'm waiting for Bob to get home so we can have lunch together. I decided to add my ticker again to keep myself accountable. I ordered some clothes from Woman Within and they arrived today.... all too small. ;o(( I ordered a medium but that's a 14W-16W.. so I was sure they would fit. WRONG! It's depressing!!! Anyway they are all going back and I'm not ordering anything else online for awhile. I'll just have to try things on before I buy. Ayla is soooo cute. We have to get Ayla and Carson together.. what a cutie patootie couple they would make!!! Laura.. there are days when I feel like I've adopted Ethan!! I've been baby sitting him since he was 6 weeks old and he'll be 4 in June. One more year and then he's off to school.. I HOPE!!! I hope everything works out well at the daycare. I know how active Grady is, I can't imagine you can get much work done when Carson is on the move! But you've been so lucky to have had him with you for so long while you're working. Haydee... 40's sound heavenly, but everything is relative. I totally understand!! I'm still scouting out a dress for the wedding. Got another one picked out, but Kris has to ok it first to make sure it's fashionable enough.. She's my fashion critic. When she says " ohhhh, Mother".. I know I'm in trouble!! Off to fix some lunch for the Bobster and me. Jane...when is your next doctor appointment?? I'm anxious to hear how things work for you with him. Michelle... where are youuuuuu?? PamELa.. no more lisping, eh? :tongue_smilie:

81 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!

Good morning, Violets.. Cloudy day today.. but no snow! Ethan comes at noon for the day and Bob leaves to go to work at noon. Guess who will be entertaining the boy? House is clean, but I need to do some laundry. I did 40 minutes on the glider yesterday and hope to get that much in today again. Weight stayed the same, but I'm not complaining! I'm really anxious for warmer weather so I can get the trykke out again and get biking! Hope everyone is doing well... Have a great day!

Good evening, Violets.. I'm back from Community Chorus rehearsal. Now I'm relaxing a bit before heading upstairs to do my final 10 minutes on the glider. I did 20 this afternoon. Here is my eating record for the day. Breakfast...10 cashews Lunch... 1 chicken/cheese quesadilla Snack...blueberries & cream Supper...chicken breast and summer squash Snack...orange So far, so good!! Everyone have a good evening. Sleep well.

Good afternoon, Violets.. Hospital shift ran 3 hours today. Too many sick people needing education packets, I guess. I came home and had lunch with the bobster. Now he's napping and I'm just finishing up in here before I head upstairs to "glide" for awhile. It's still snowing here, but just showers.. we have about 2 inches of new snow on the ground.. just enough to make it look white and bright again. I don't need any more than that. Laura.. Carson and Grady are growing up so fast! Grady is running around all over now. He's finally waving bye bye. I haven't seen him in a week and am missing him, but we'll have Thursday, Friday and Saturday together. No Ethan today... whew. It's soooooooo quiet here when he's gone. No tv.. no radio.. no video games. Just me and the Bobster, the dogs, the cat and the computer. Jane.. nothing wrong with calling your dad Daddy. I always called my dad Dad, but we didn't have a good relationship at all. He really never was a father.. just a little boy in a man's body. He provided well for his family, but that's about it. I swore I'd never be a parent like my parents were and I've kept that promise. Bob is a great Dad...he loves them and they obviously love him. But he's Dad to them all. Ok.. so Joe calls him "old man".. lol Josh called him Bob for awhile in his rebellious days, but he's back to Dad again. And that's probably more than you want to know on the subject.. lol Off to glide. Will check back later.

82 days till Haydee and Juan's wedding!!

Good morning, Violets.. Yea Band.. Yea Lent...I'm down another pound this morning. The no sugar, lo carbs and exercise are paying off... who knew?? Even my horoscope was interesting this morning. " This is a new stage, and there is much you have given up in order to get where you are. It was worth it. Willingness to sacrifice is a strength of yours. And you have many other places to go." My big challenge will be this weekend. We are going to Great Wolf Lodge Thursday and Friday with all the grandkids and eating healthy will be a challenge, but I know I'll get some pool exercise in. Then on Saturday we are celebrating Grady's 1st birthday a few days early. There will be cake, but Kris already knows I am not eating sweets and another friend of hers gave up sweets for Lent also so she said there will be lots of cake left over! Michelle.. how is your MIL and Mo?? Keeping them in my prayers. Everytime I complain about Kaylie, our cat, sleeping on me I think of Mo and how sleeping on me isn't really such a big deal. PamELa, Haydee, Jane, Laura and Heather.. have a good week at work. We are getting snow here and schools downstate are all closed since they got pounded with up to a foot of snow. We are getting just a couple of inches. It's coming down pretty steady now. I'm off to fix some breakfast and then head to my hospital shift. Everyone make it a good one!!

Good evening, Violets.. Laura..congrats on getting back in the journey!!! Glad you were able to find what works for you. Today's eating report: Breakfast...tuna, soy nuts, mandarin oranges Lunch...2 eggs scrambled with 2 slices bacon, fat removed and 2 T. cream Snack...1 orange handful of cashews and macadamia nuts Dinner...1 tortilla encrusted talapia fillet. 1 cup hot chocolate with Miralax. Did 20 minutes of gliding while I watched the Food Network challenge. Desparate Housewives is on in a half hour and I'll go up and see how much more I can do while I watch that. No Ethan tomorrow so I can sleep in a little bit. I have my hospital shift from 10-12 and Community Chorus starts again at 7 p.m. That means I have rehearsals, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday every week! yikes!!! Everyone sleep well tonight. Tomorrow is a brand new day.

Good afternoon, Violets.. I'm back from church. Choir did an awesome job on the anthem, so that made me proud. Rest of the service was  I got home and started cleaning out my car so I could pick up Lou at the airport. Took it out and vacuumed it and took a wet rag and wiped it down on the inside. Then I get a call from Lou that he missed his connecting flight and won't be in until 11:30 tonight, but has someone to pick him up so I'm off the hook. But Ethan is still coming over, so no nap I guess. I had my tuna, soy nuts and oranges for Breakfast and for lunch I fixed two scrambled eggs with the meat cut from two slices of bacon.. no fat. I splurged and put in a tablespoon of cream. I'm slowly eating it now. Got to get my exercise in today too. Technically, Lent doesn't include Sundays so I could really not worry about carbs and sweets today, but I'm sticking with the program. I don't want to ruin 4 good days of eating and exercising. I have some new motivation too. A friend from many years ago has moved back to Alpena and she has rejoined my choir. She and I always were the two fatties and tried every diet and exercise there was. Well, here we are many, many years later and I am almost normal size and she is huge. I gave her my old choir robe that I shrunk out of and it is too small for her, so I'm going to get Kathy's robe (my friend who has lost almost 100#) and see if that works. I really want my friend to say... "wow.. how did you do it"?? because I know she could benefit from it too. PamELA, one of my favorite people is Rosie.. I read her blog every day and listen to her on the radio when I'm in the car and have XM. What a coincidence.. I read your posts everyday and you're one of my favorite people too!! Ethan has arrived so time to be Gramma for a couple of hours. Everyone have a great afternoon.

Good morning, Violets.. Darn chilly here this morning.. 13 degrees, but the sun is shining and it's supposed to get up to 35 degrees today. woooo hooooo! I have church this morning and then I'm picking up a church member at the airport and driving him to his house a half hour away. Ethan is coming over for a couple of hours while his mom and dad work, so he'll be going with me. Fun, fun. If Bob gets back in time from his services, he can take Lou home from our house, but if not, I'll be the one doing the driving. Not a problem, but it cuts into my nap time!! I finished The Story of Edgar Sawtelle last night and now am starting Making Toast. I saw a review of it in People magazine this week and it sounded interesting. I love that I can go Amazon.com and type in the book name and poof... there it is on my Kindle. Everyone have a great day today. I weighed in and am the same. I ate well yesterday and did my 30 minutes of gliding. I'm having my tuna, soy nuts and mandarin oranges right now. Will be outta here at 8:30.
