Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

My pleasure Margi!!! Guess we old ladies are a little luckier with the pain and gas. Ya think it's cause we're more tough skinned?? Or old?? Or forgotten what pain is supposed to be?? Whatever, just glad to hear you made it through and are now ready for the next part of your life.. the thin, healthy part!! Congrats!!!

Pam.. I had the same thing happen to me. I got a little too cocky with the Steri strips and after one fell off, I figured I could easily get one off by myself. Big mistake. It bled and hurt for a couple of days. I have a regular bandaid on it now and I learned my lesson.. no pickie pickies!!

Tracy.. Tater said they had to cancel surgery cause her throat swelled shut from a breathing tube too large. Never heard of that before!! Hope things go much better for her today!

Apparently there are still some bugs to work out. How come the change? I thought things were working great before!!

Ok.. I'm going to go do my volunteer shift at the hospital and I want this site fixed and back to normal by the time I get back.. ya hear????
  7. I guess it's the check mark in the blue box right by the thread name. I'm sooooooo confused!!
  8. Would have been nice if there had been a warning!! We all know how addictive this site is. We all have friends that are having or had surgery that we need to check on and right now that's impossible to do!! arghhhhhhhhhhhh
  9. What arrow are you referring to???? I can't get into any threads the normal way. It just says page cannot be displayed. This is very frustrating!!!!!!!

    Port Huron Lap Banders??

Yup...no lifting anything over 20# for a couple of weeks. I miss babysitting for my grandson, but one more week and I'll be able to start that again. Best of luck to you and keep in touch!!!

    Port Huron Lap Banders??

I have two containers of Lite Yoplait a day. I blend it up in the Magic Bullet because it has pieces of fruit in it. And yup.. I figure I'm eating about 500 calories a day and I gotta tell ya.. I don't feel starved..... yet!! With the variety of foods I'm allowed I don't feel deprived. Just missing that chewing sensation. But today is better than yesterday so I know I can do it for another week. Contrary to what many have said on the boards. I had no pain to speak of. Absolutely NO gas pain.. I don't know why but I'm very thankful. This surgery for me was no worse than getting a tooth pulled. I'm probably the exception, but that's the way it was for me and I couldn't be happier!!! I was tired the first couple of days, but you should be fine to go back to work on Monday if you take it easy.

    Port Huron Lap Banders??

Jenn.. I've lost 18# since April 1. I went on a low carb, high protein diet to lose a few pounds and shrink the liver before surgery. I have lost a pound a day so far since the surgery. I'm on clear liquids for 2 weeks.. that's broth, sf jello, sf popsicles, water, juice and yogurt (for the protein). I have not been hungry though I did have a hard time yesterday wanting to just chew something!! A friend of mine will be banded on the 27th also, but with Dr. Bhesania. Any questions, I 'll be glad to answer.. just message me here or email me.. justincase@lycos.com

Good for you Panda!!! :clap2: I started exercise yesterday too. I was getting bored with the liquid diet and thought I'd better get out and get going before I did something I shouldn't. I walked with DH and the dogs for 30 minutes and then came home, had some broth and later did a mile power walking tape. And when I got up this morning I had lost 2#. Sooooooooooo it does help!!! Keep up the good work and congrats on the amazing weight loss so far!!!!

    Terrible Sore Throat!

I had the sore throat too. It went away about the 3rd day post op for me. Hang in there.. it will be better soon.

    6 days post-op

Make that 4 in the boat. I was banded a week ago and was doing great until yesterday and then just wanted something other than liquids. But when I got on the scale this morning and had lost another 2# I decided I could do this. I have 3 more weeks of the liquid stage, but can add anything that will go through a straw after next week so that's an incentive. I don't get a fill until 8 weeks post op. We just all have to focus on the future and know that this stage will pass!! Hang in there everyone!!

I guess I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop! I sailed through the surgery, never had any pain to speak of and no gas pain at all. I am sticking to my liquid diet.. have another week of clear liquids before I hit all liquids for 2 weeks and just look forward to adding foods back in, in moderation. I wanted this surgery so badly and am just thrilled that I finally got it and look forward to dropping the pounds. Remember.. attitude is 90% of the battle!!!

I use the CL to go packets. I make up 4 bottles of the stuff (easier to shake when it settles) and then drink it throughout the day. When the 4 bottles are gone, I have drunk my 8 glasses of water for the day.. waaaaa laaaaaaaaaa!

Crystal light is awesome. I was a carbonated soda-aholic and never thought I could give that up, but I drink CL Classic Orange exclusively now. I never, ever drank water plain so this is another healthy plus.. I'm finally getting my daily quota of water in and I'm loving it!
  25. You really need to check with your doctor and nutritionist. Each one is different. My doctor does not require me to drink protein shakes, in fact says not to. My protein for the first month comes from yogurt and skim milk. Again.. check with your doc.
