Haydee... your angels are adorable!! What are their names?? Kat.. I know what cha mean about losing pets. We have 4 dogs buried out in the back yard. Each one was loved and it broke our hearts to lose them, but we are the type that can't be without pets. BUT these two guys and our two cats will be our last. (I think..) Tracy!! Glad to see you could sneak in under the wire here. We've missed you!!! -

Ok Gr8.. I go in for a fill on Tuesday. Your story made me smile, but I sure hope my experience isn't like yours!! Hopefully you're feeling good restriction and won't have to have another fill for awhile!! I just got back from Curves and I've lost 13 inches since last month!!! I was thrilled:clap2::clap2: We have a program called Let's Get Moving Northern Michigan and it started today. We record our miles online. They have the mile equivilant for various activities. Because I don't smoke and I drank 64 oz. of water today and got 25-35 grams of fiber and did 30 minutes at Curves , I got to post 53 miles!! No wonder I'm tired!! Actually the 50 miles is a one time bonus for not smoking. After this I should be able to log 3 miles a day at least. Haydee: my boys are definitely angels.. as long as they're sleeping! Just like kids. They play with each other and torment each other when they are awake. I just love them to death though. They are my babies now that my real babies have grown up. -

Good morning all you Shrink'n Violets!! I'm up at the crack of dawn so I can drive 62 miles to go to the end of the school year breakfast at the school from which I retired back in 2004. I can't believe I got up at 4:30 each and every week day morning for 32 years.. YIKES!!! But I do remember this quiet time. Nobody else is up and around.. not even my yorkies. Just me, the puter, the radio and my thoughts. I'm going to fix my scrambled egg and cheese before I go and then have fruit when I get there. Course it will be Crystal Light time on the way home. Then I'm going to get my TB test read and take a nap so I can function the rest of the day. DH is doing very well with everything. Course he is getting bored with the liquids and says he is getting hungry, but it's head hunger at this point and I'm being the eternal cheerleader letting him know he CAN do it and it WILL get better. We walked the dogs last night and will do the same tonight. It's our together time now that we can't spend time in the hot tub together until his incisions are all healed. Course by then the weather will be too warm for the hot tub. The pool temp was up to 75 today.. just 5 more degrees and I can get in. Weather is supposed to get gradually cooler so it might still be awhile before I can use it. Well, time to make my breakfast and curl my hair. Everyone have a great Friday and remember to follow those bandster rules!! -

Michelle.. Congrats on your fast recovery. I was in my nammies for almost a week after surgery. Just lazed around and relaxed. DH is feeling back to normal now for the first time in a week. Course he had a tough week with all the activities in Canada, but I'm glad we didn't postpone the surgery because of it. Now he's done and on the way instead of waiting and waiting. I think that's the worst part of the whole surgery!!! Well, ok, maybe a little pain in the incisions. And a little gas. But it's all definitely worth it!!!! I hope we all continue to post on here with our progress and not drift off just because the surgery is over and done with!!! LUNASA: congrats on being an Auntie!! And going to see Phantom definitely makes the trip worth your time! DENISE: Hope your anniversary was enjoyable in spite of the acid reflux. That's exactly what I would get before surgery. I dreaded going to bed at night for fear that the reflux would wake me up.. it felt like I was drowing.. couldn't catch my breath and kept trying to swallow. And the acid taste.. YUCK. Doc fixed my hiatal hernia during the lap band surgery and I haven't had any reflux since. That was worth the price of admission!! Grandson Ethan is here for the day so I'll probably get my exercise hauling him around. He'll be a year old on Saturday and is into everything! Everyone have a great day and remember to follow those bandster rules!! -

Found this message from Tracy on a separate thread.. I told her I'd share it with everyone... For some unknown reason...I can not post in the Shrinking Violets thread anymore As long as I am not logged in, I can get into the thread and read all of the posts, but as soon as I log in, I get an error (just on that thread) saying to e-mail the webmaster@lapbandtalk.com to let them know of my problem. I have done that and I still can't talk to my friends So, I just wanted to let you all know that I am still here, I just have a muzzle on for the time being. Please pass the word on for me. Take care everyone..... TracyTX -
I'll post your note over that for ya!! Hope you get the issues resolved soon!!!

My exercise goals are pretty simple.. just do some kind of activity equivelant to a walk for 30 or more minutes a day. Might be gardening, mowing the lawns, biking, taking grandson for a stroll in the stroller or whatevah gets the heart rate up. My pool should be warm enough to use pretty soon and I have water aerobic weights to use for toning. I get great workouts in the pool. Just have to wait for the water temp to hit 80 before I'll go in. In Northern Michigan, that takes a while, but I do have a solar heater so hopefully with lots of sun it will be warm enough soon. Had a little problem today. It's 88 degrees and I was running errands and when I got back in the car I was so hot I just gulped my Crystal Light lemonade. Bad choice.. my stomach got all yucky feeling. I've learned me lesson.. sip, sip, sip no matter how thirsty I feel. -

Good Morning all you Shrink'n Violets!! It's another beautiful, warm, sunshiny day here! DH is at the Cardiologist for his scheduled appointment. I'm anxious to hear what his weight is and what they say about his medications. He's doing really well now after some difficult days with gas pains and a reaction to the steri strips. But each day he is feeling better and today is his birthday so he HAS to feel good!! He's now eligible for Social Security.. now doesn't THAT make one feel old!! I have a few more years before that kicks in for me, but it will be a nice little added amount of money for more cruises and remodeling around the house. Terry.. I met my goal for exercising this month and will definitely set one for next month. Here in Northern Michigan we have a contest each year called "Let's Get Moving, Alpena". I registered online and will record my miles of walking and other exercise. I can win prizes plus walk my fanny off.. literally!! Michelle.. hope you're feeling good this morning. Isn't it a great feeling to know the surgery is behind you and your whole new banded life is ahead of you?? Everyone have a great day and remember to follow the bandster rules!! -

Hey Debra.. Welcome!! Nice to have yet another teacher join us. I'm a retired Kindergarten teacher. I retired in June of 04 and have not looked back. I miss the kids and the colleagues, but all the rest of the stuff??.. nuh uh. I'm doing all sorts of stuff for ME now and loving it. I used to get up at 4:30 a.m. to make the 62 mile drive to work with 2 others in our car pool. We'd be at school at 7:10 a.m. and get home at 4:45 p.m. and then I had church and family committments. It was a hectic life and I lived for summers!! Now I get up when I want most days, do the things that I enjoy doing (though I LOVED teaching) and rest when I want to. And I save about $100 a week on gas alone!!! It's a good life!! -

Good morning, Fellow Shrink'n Violets.. Well, we're back from Canada. It was a wonderful trip, but one I would not recommend for someone one day out of surgery. DH did ok, but the gas pains and fatigue just about did him in. He did a wonderful job on his eating, just sipping on broth while we went to all the fancy restaurants. I did fine on my eating too. I lost 2# this week even though I finally got on regular foods. Everything tasted wonderful, but I was very careful to eat only the quantity I was supposed to. We did splurge on Pavlova.. a wonderfully light dessert made of meringue and whipped cream. I had lots of posts to catch up on here last night when we arrived home. It was one of the first places I checked, right after emails!! Tracy, your face pictures are amazing. I leave for 5 days and you've changed your appearance again!!! Keep up the great work!! I wasn't able to get in my walking routine while I was gone, though I did walk for an hour one evening. But we did a lot of shopping and that required walking so I did get some exercise each day. I had some constipation issues and finally was able to resolve them with some Sennekot pills. I went for 5 days without a BM and that was getting very uncomfortable. Now that I'm home, I can get my fibersure in 3X a day instead of just once, like I did in Canada. Anyway.. I have lots of laundry to do and things to unpack! It's great to be home !! -

Good Morning fellow Shrink'n Violets.. We're packed and ready to head to Canada. Everyone have a great weekend. Relax, enjoy the time off and remember to follow those bandster rules!! DH is doing well today. It's a major event to get all his meds down in 10 minute intervals, but hopefully with about 50# off he'll be done with a lot of his meds. :clap2: See ya all Tuesday!! -

Good Morning, Mary. We just got back from Port Huron last night. DH got banded Tuesday and he's doing really well. We leave for Canada in a couple of hours and will be gone 5 days. Thank goodness we are going with another couple and DH doesn't have to do any driving. I understand about not having time to do what you need to do with all the demands on your time. That's what is great about being retired! There are still demands on my time, but I'm able to say I need to do this for myself and screw the rest!! lol Have a great day! -

Hello fellow Shrink'n Violets!!! We just arrived home a short while ago. I didn't have time to get on the internet at the hotel. DH did fine during the surgery, but had a rough time in recovery. He woke up very disorientated and was calling for me and had a hard time breathing. Said he felt like an elephant was sitting on his chest. He spent 2 hours in recovery, but everything turned out fine. The figure the pressure was from the gas. He's home now and we leave in the morning for 5 days in Canada. He did great on the ride home and is doing super on his sipping broth and juice and skim milk. I'm very proud of him and just so glad the actual surgery is over. Doc said he did great and put in a 10cc band. DD, DH and I were at the hospital from 9:30 a.m. til DH was back in his room at 4 p.m. Makes for one very long, stressful day, but everything is kewl now. I see I have about 10 pages of posts to read. Could you Violets not talk for a few days until I get home????.. I'm going to feel sooooooo out of the loop!!! I'll try and catch up tonight after I go get some things at Walmart and get everything packed up for the trip. I can't even imagine how many pages I'll be behind being gone 5 whole days!!!! Everyone have a great week and remember to follow those bandster rules!!! -

I'm back for a minute.. The concert went very, very well. We got a standing ovation. Now I can focus on DH and thanks Terry and Laura for your good wishes. DH says there's nothing better than a purple angel as far as he's concerned. I'll try and check in Tuesday after his surgery and let you know how everything went. He's a little apprehensive, but I know I can help him through this having just been there, done that a month and a half ago. We're going to go hit the hot tub for the last time together for awhile. He'll have to wait until his incisions heal before he can go back in again. Take care everyone. Have a great evening and remember to follow those bandster rules!! -

Great job, Denise!!! I had one of those today too!! When I was teaching I bought a jacket that I loved.. it has our school logo on one side and "Teach" on the other. I haven't been able to wear it zipped up in several years. I put it on today and it fit.. ZIPPED up!!!! Aren't these little milestones just the best?????!!! Gotta go sing and play flute at a concert tonight. I'll check in before I head to bed. We leave in the morning to go down for DH's surgery!! -

Good Morning, Shrink'n Violets!!! Today was weigh in day and I lost 2# this week!! It's off to the jewelry store for another angel charm tomorrow morning before we leave for DH's surgery. Gina.. your pics are GREAT.. you can really see a difference.. keep up the great work!!:clap2: Angie.. sorry to hear about your car and your DD... hope they can get the car off the wall and be thankful your DD wasn't on the highway when something like that happened. At least she is ok. The car can always be fixed pain free except for the hole in your pocketbook!! Not ever having a fill I don't know what to tell you about that. Adorable.... you look ADORABLE!! :clap2: What kind of fish were those?? I absolutely LOVE fishing, but don't get to do much anymore.. I'm off to church.. everyone have a great day and stick to the bandster rules!! -

Well, today we did the great "freezer give away".. all the frozen food went to DS and his family. All the ice cream treats, the pot pies, the frozen foods.. all gone. DH has surgery in 3 days and we know we're not going to eat most of that stuff again. Our grocery bill is going to go wayyyyyyy down for awhile, for sure. Had a great dinner tonight of meat loaf and Bush's no bean chili, salad and sf pudding. I'm really stuffed and DH is too. Course he had a few more slices of meat loaf and more chili than I did. So next week starts our new life together. We're both excited!! I'm going out to finish mulching the front yard flower bed. Then some nice, quiet time watching tv this evening. Everyone take care!! -

Good afternoon all you Shrink'n Violets.. I'm babysitting grandson Ethan while my DS and DH go golfing. In the rain.. go figure. I'm still doing my program with a vengance.. had a couple tablespoons of ham salad with some romaine lettuce and 10 spritzes of the italian dressing and some sf jello with lo fat whipped cream for dessert and I'm satisfied. I'm averaging 5-600 calories a day before exercising and ending up with a net calorie count of between 3-500. It's working for me and I'm not hungry between meals. If I do feel the least bit of hunger, my Crystal Light Lemonade does the trick. I'm hoping to lose a pound on the scale tomorrow so I can get another angel charm. Keeping my fingers crossed!! Everyone have a great day and follow those bandster rules!! -

Mary... Port Huron is 4 hours away, but we're both retired so it's not a problem for us. I checked out Traverse City originally, but I really liked all I heard about Port Huron and the fact that the docs have been doing this surgery since 2002. They have over 1,000 surgeries under their belts. And I loved the pre and post op program. -

I live in Alpena Township.. and yup.. I've heard of Lincoln. This area is really nice to retire too. Not all the hustle and bustle of Traverse, but still with water nearby and great skiing in the winter. -
