Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Teachlady replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey... where did everybody go???? Good morning, Violets. Today is weigh in day and I lost 3#!!! Only two more til I hit -50#, my mini-goal for Aug. 10th which will be my 4 month bandiversary. Things went quite well last night with Jetta. She was quiet most of the night, but I can't say the same for Chippy and Kirby, my yorkies. They came downstairs and started barking at the garage door knowing there was a stranger there and of course Jetta had to bark back. I got the two little ones corralled and shut the bedroom door so they couldn't roam, but I kept waking up every little bit expecting to hear Jetta barking. It never happened and I h ope tonight I'll get a better night's sleep. All in all, it's working out ok for now. Time to get dressed for church. Everyone have a great Sunday. I heard last night that Tammy Faye Baker died Friday. And she was just on Larry King on Thursday. So sad. -

Hey all....... well, I am soooooooooo tired, I can barely keep my eyes open!! I worked in the back yard alllllllllll day today. It is now officially ready for the garden tour tomorrow. Jetta arrived at about 6:30 and she is the same dog I remember... really hyper, BUT she calmed down some after she was here and right now she's being very quiet in the garage. We'll see how she does tonight. We let her run in the back yard and I played catch with her while I was in the hot tub. First throw ended up in the tree two feet away from me.. so out of the hot tub... shake the tree, get the ball, throw it.... get back in the hot tub... wait for Jetta to bring me the ball and do the exact same thing again.. arghhhhhhhhhh Obviously my talent does not lie in pitching!!! DS said he would come by tomorrow and pick up Jetta for a few hours so she won't interfere with the tour. I thought that was a very good thing. Soooooooo Jetta has avoided the executioner and hopefully will find a nice home to go to. If not... she'll be campin' out here. Ohhhhhhhh we do have to get her a muzzle. I brought out the yorkies to meet her and she bared her teeth and growled, so I didn't even put them down on the ground. They all might have to take turns out in the back yard. I'm going to call it a night and relax with a couple of magazines. Everyone have a good one and remember.........WWJD??!!! -

Hello Violets.. I too am taking a break finally!! I'm sipping on my slushy Crystal Light Raspberry Lemonade. yummy. We got the enclosed area all done for Jetta today. Nice gate, nice little place for her to stay outside and not get into the major part of the yard. Now.. if she doesn't dig a hole to get under the fence we'll be fine!! She'll be in the garage for the next day because of the garden tour. I went to a nursery that was having a sale and I got the most GORGEOUS hanging plants ever for only $8.00 a piece!! They are mammoth and will look great for tomorrow. They'll think I've been babying them all summer! I'm going to go out now and do the trimming so DH can mow after his nap. Then we'll do the clean up and be done!!!!!!!!!!!!! MDRAI..... are you going to share pics with us???? GINA.... Jetta looks to be a German shepherd mix. She's a mutt that was dropped off at Walmart and of course DS couldn't resist. The vet here has a home placement program and they will work hard on getting her a good home. In the meantime we'll be taking care of her so she doesn't have to be put down. I'm crossing my fingers that it all works out alright. BUBBLES.... that dish has become one of my all-time favorites. It's quick, easy and very tasty plus high in protein. I have it almost every morning for breakfast now. Don't know what I'll do when blueberries go out of season! Guess I'll revert back to the pineapple chunks I used to put in it. OK.. back to work. Will check in later! -

Good morning, Violets. I'll try to be quiet cause I know most of you are still sleeping. I'm up at the crack of 6:30 to get ready for my flute rehearsal. Our quartet is playing for service tomorrow. Today our son's dog is coming to live with us. His new wife doesn't like the dog and told him he had to get rid of it. Don't even get me going on my DDIL. Let's just say, she's the mother of my grandson, and if it weren't for that... well.... nuff said. Anyway... Jetta is coming to live with us as his only other opteion was to have her put down. I just couldn't handle that. She has lived with us before and almost totally destroyed our house. SHe's the reason we have wood floors instead of carpet. She scratched the heck our of our patio door window and ruined my flower beds before. She's been with DS for about 3 years now and I haven't seen her that much. Hopefully she has calmed down a little, but I said we couldn't have her in the house because of our yorkies and of course Ethan being with us during the week. Sooooooo she will camp out in the garage and in a special area we fenced off in the back yard. We're finishing that up with a gate and some straw for her today. Oh what we don't do for our kids!!! I'm off to finish my cottage cheese and blueberries and then get my hair into some kind of order before I head to rehearsal. Everyone have a great Saturday and remember.............WWJD?? (I told my cruising buddies about that last night and they just howled! Terry, you're a hit!!) -

Terry... I focused on your post. OMG.. that is so sad all the things your friend had to go through. And it just goes to show you when you think things are bad.. others have it much worse. It sure puts everything in perspective when you hear a story like that. I hope everything comes together for her and her family. Speaking of having it worse.. did anyone see Tammy Faye Baker on Larry King the other night.??? Now THAT was scarey!! The poor woman weighs 65# after gaining 5#. She looked like someone from a concentration camp, but there she was with her wig and her black eye makeup and her lipstick dressed up with fancy jewelry. She could barely talk, but she's still hangin' in there. It was very painful to watch. And I was worried about ODing on chocolate mousse tonight. ((( (I didn't). I have an 8 a.m flute rehearsal tomorrow morning so I'm heading to bed. This is what retirement is like!!! Everyone have a good night.. sleep well and remember.... WWJD?? -

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.. that's a sigh of relief that the garage sale is over. I made over $200 so I can go shopping next week for some new clothes and fun things. BUT the best part of the sale was all the nice comments I got! I had upteen fluffy ladies say.. "these can't be your clothes!". They all wanted to know how I had lost weight so I became the Alpena Michigan spokesperson for lap bands. And one lady who was going to buy my 6 Week Makeover kit said she had been turned down because the doc didn't take medicare patients. I told her not to buy the kit, but to call my doc and gave her the number plus this website and my number in case she had any questions. She asked about the support groups and I said I just can't go 4 hours for a meeting in the evening, stay overnight and come back each month. I do that already with my doc. appointments. I told her one of the best support groups you can find is at lapbandtalk.com! I hope she's able to get things in order to get it done. It will be neat to have someone close to compare notes with. My friend who had it done is 40 miles away and I only get to see her on some Sundays. DH is serving a little church now that he's retired from our big church, but I still direct the choir at our big church and only go with him during the summer when my choir is off. Everybody following this?? FOCUS, K? Soooooooo ummmmmmmmmmmmmm where was I? Anyway.. it was a great day. Lots of nice people.. sold a lot of books and was told I had really beautiful clothes. We have a consignment shop in town so after the Garage Sale Part Three in August, I'll take the better stuff there and see what I can get for it. I'm off to make dessert for after dinner out tonight with our cruising buddies. Chocolate Mousse with fresh raspberries. I'm going to have a LITTLE bit just to say I did.. ;o)) Everyone have a good evening and remember........ WWJD?? Pamela.. ya know I love ya. As we always say in my church (United Church of Christ).. no matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you're welcome here. Is that a great church or what?? -

Good morning, Violets. Anybody awake yet?? I got up at 6:30 so I could have a leisurely breakfast before the garage sale starts. It looks like it's going to be a nice day. I have a couple of signs to make and then I'll be ready for the rush... hopefully there WILL be a rush!! I'm on my own today. DD will be here at 1 to help me close up and pack the leftovers away for another sale later this summer. Pamela... can't wait to see pics of you coming out of the closet. I'm sorry.. I just had to say that... Terry.. did you have fun at your "party"last night?? Lots of other comments I can think of, but I'll keep them to myself. After all I AM a pastor's wife.. hehehehe Ok.. enough of my wit and humor.. arghhhh.. time to go get dressed, make the signs and get the paper. Looks like a Protein meal replacement bar for lunch today, which will be ok since we're going out for dinner tonight. Everyone have a great morning. I'll report back with my profits this afternoon.. And remember... WWJD! Kat... have a great trip. We'll try to keep the posts to a minimum while you're gone... Yeah, right!!! -

Good evening, Violets. We just got back from a dinner meeting. DH and I split a walleye dinner. I got the salad, he got the potatoes and we split the fish. It was yummy and just enough to fill us up. We had horrible weather today.. thunderstorms and then just before we left it started to hail penny sized hailstones. When it was done it looked like winter!! The golf course was white and there was a "hail drift" in front of the restaurant! It's now 57 degrees and looks and feels like fall. There goes my warm pool temp. Got to get up early for the garage sale tomorrow. I'll check in when I can. Supposed to be sunny all day so my fingers are crossed for a good sale. Everyone have a good evening. Sleep well and remember.. WWJD!! -

Jennifer.. you really made me think!! I was hauling 40# bags of top soil this morning and I could barely do it. I counted it as a good workout! And to think I carried that much plus 5 more 24/7! It's amazing when we look back and see what we've done to ourselves! We've had thunderstorms all day today. My fingers are crossed for clear skies for my garage sale part deux tomorrow!! -

No, there will be no immediate scorching with the WWJD bracelet.. HOWEVER, if you do make a bad choice, a little microchip imbedded in the bracelet will send a message back to me on my computer that will show up on my screen (I'll be on the Violet thread, so I'll get the message immediately). I will in turn, give the message to DH who in turn will give the message to the one up above and then............ ZAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP watch out for lightning!!!!! So ...scorched?? Not right away, but sooon.. very, very sooooooooooooon! -

Never in my life did I think that being anal would get me famous!! I'm happy to do it and if it helps anyone else, then it's worth it!! WWJD is so much easier for me to type than.. "remember to follow those bandster rules" anyways!! Off to finish my 2nd glass of slushy Crystal Light.. yums -

OK, THAT'S IT!!! Everytime you Violets have a food challenge and you think.. hmmmmmmm WWJD? I wanna commission. I'm thinkin' ohhhhh say 50 cents for each thought?? Then I'm guessing I would have more than I could get from a garage sale which I have to do again tomorrow. At least the weather looks good for the sale. No rain like last week. Only problem is I'm on my own tomorrow. DD who helped last week will not be here until 1 cause she works at Curves on Friday. arghhhhhhh So keep those thoughts and half dollars coming, k???? Oh wait.. I have those same thoughts too.. hmmmmm this might not work. -

Well, DH and I had a pastie for supper. It was really yummy, but I'm feeling the effects of it. I feel uncomfortably stuffed. I had the insides and about half the crust of one. It probably didn't amount to more than a cup of veggies and meat, but I haven't had any carb laden stuff since April and I certainly will not be having any again!! I'm burping and feeling really stuffed.. like after Thanksgiving. DH was raised on Cornish pasties and it's one of my favorites. We indulged this once. Now we both know better. I'm finishing up my water for the day and then heading to the couch to watch some tv. Everyone have a great evening... sleep well and remember to follow those bandster rules!!! WWJD!! -

I told DH about your post, Terry and he high fived me. lol He thought it was great! We got the patio blocks in the entrance to the yard and tomorrow I'll have to backfill in with some topsoil. We have one gate to make on the new fencing and that will be done. I got lots of stuff at JoAnn Fabrics for the garden at 70% off. I did my half hour in the pool and I'm sooooooooo glad to get back in it. It finally got up to 80 today so hope it stays that way for awhile. As long as it doesn't get into the 50's at night it should be ok. sheeeeesh it sounds like I'm doing a Kindergarten Show and Tell moment!!! DD made pasties and we're having those for supper. I'll just eat a half of one. The Jimmy Johns "un"sandwich was wonderful today. I've got a watermelon to cut up for dessert tonight. -

TERRY.. YOU ARE A HOOT!!!!!!!! Can't tell you how much I laughed at that one. Guess I've made an impression on your brain, eh?? I'm off to the pool for some water aerobics and will be watching DH hauling 320# of top soil and 60# of mulch and 302# of patio stone to the back yard... bag by bag by bag, by block, by block. I'm guessing he'll count that as his exercise for the day! -

Tracy.. thanks for sending out the rescue team to reel Pamela in. Couldn't have her floundering out there alone! Wonder why they didn't warn us they were moving our thread??? I too would be lost without the Violet sistahhood! I'm waiting for DD to get here so we can go have lunch at Jimmy Johns. It just opened here yesterday and they have an "unsandwich" where the innards are put in a lettuce leaf instead of in bread. Just right for me!! The temp is supposed to get to 82 today so hopefully my pool will be up to 80 so I can get in and do my water aerobics. I sure miss that, though we have been biking just about every night. Tracy... did you like the blueberries with the cottage cheese??? To me, with the Splenda, it's like a dessert with lots of protein!! -

Good Morning Violets.. Well, I'm stuck on a plateau for sure. I can't resist weighing in every day and I've been at the same weight since the 8th of July. Grrrrrrrrrrr. I guess I should have had the fill when I had the option. I'll know better next time. Just have to hold out until the 30th when I get my second fill. I'm following all the rules...eating right, exercising every day, but I think my body is trying to catch up with everything right now. At least that's my excuse for the moment. DH is losing steadily. He's looking and feeling great. I feel great too and he tells me I'm looking good, so I'll take his word for it. It's a lazy day today. I'm going to go finish my cottage cheese and blueberries for breakfast. Catch ya all later!! -

Just checking in before I head to bed. DH and I biked 5 miles tonight. I had a rehearsal until 9 so we didn't have the hour to ride like usual. I said I HAD to do a half hour so we kept riding around and around and around and around.. well you get the idea.... the neighborhood. Got the half hour in and I'm happy. Tomorrow is a lazy day. No meetings, no rehearsals.. just doing what I want to do. And the pool was 80 degrees tonight.. so I should be able to get back in it tomorrow. We just came in from the hot tub and it was really nice. Everyone sleep well and we'll talk tomorrow. AND don't forget to follow those bandster rules!!! -

Terry.. that is my all time favorite salad recipe. haven't had it since being banded though. My food intake today was: BREAKFAST 1/2 cup lo fat cottage cheese with 1/4 cup blueberries and splenda brown sugar = 178 calories 12 grams of protein LUNCH 6 tsp. ham salad spread (I was late for a rehearsal) = 32 calories 1 gram protein MID AFTERNOON SNACK sugar free pudding with sugar free whipped cream= 80 calories SUPPER: 1 turkey mignon= 220 calories 35 grams protein 1/2 cup summer squash cooked with onions, garlic and red pepper 30 calories 1 gram protein EVENING SNACK: sugar free pudding with sugar free whipped cream=80 calories That equals 620 calories which is low for me today. I'm usually getting 700 - 800 a day. I was in a rush at lunch and didn't get my full helping of ham salad and lettuce and fruit. Bummer. DH and I are going walking tonight after my rehearsal. I had a 2 hour flute rehearsal this afternoon for my dulcimer/flute group and tonight I have a 2 hour singing rehearsal for our acappella singing group. I'm going to be music-ed out today! -

How many minutes do u wait to drink after eating?
Teachlady replied to Surfin Sarah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc's rules are to stop drinking 15 minutes before meals and wait til an hour after meals. It's best to see what your doctor says.
