    Shrinking violets- part 6!!!

Good morning, Violets.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHELLE!!! Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing day. We are in a hotel an hour and a half away from our band doc. We're leaving in an hour for our appointment. Then off to Fashion Bug to see what treasures they have and then on our way 4 hours to home. We want to get some yard work done tonight and finish up tomorrow. The people whose gardens are on the Garden Walk will be making a tour Friday night to see all the gardens since we will be stationed at our own garden on Saturday during the actual walk. Should be fun! Everyone have a great day.

    Shrinking violets- part 6!!!

Just finished reading The Man on the Bench by a guy I graduated with.. Howard Jones. It's a REALLY good read.. A homeless schizophrenic came to Point Loma, California. He sat on a bench in the heart of the village. He didn't leave for nearly twenty years. This is the amazing story of how this man worked his way into the hearts of countless people in this affluent neighborhood in San Diego. Over the course of many years, the author befriended the man who ultimately invited him into his world of dillusions and dreams. It is not only a story of the plight of the homeless, the mentally ill and the disenfranchised, it is a story about the heart of humanity. Moving and insightful, the story let's us all spend time sitting on the bench. I really loved this book #1 because I know the author and #2 because our adopted son is diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic. I'm now moving to the ridiculous and reading Sliding into Home by Kendra Wilkinson. You sometimes need a little mindlessness in your life in order to appreciate the good stuff. The Bobster is finally done packing so we're on our way to the doc. No fun things planned, except dinner out and maybe a little shopping. Just a nice, relaxing ride with my Kindle and my best buddy.

Daughter Kris is here and she says to make polish sausage and saurkraut. I said I didn't think that was Mexican enough.. lol She said .. add some hot sauce!! My go to is beef stroganoff in the crock pot. Beef round steak cut up into pieces, a can of cream of mushroom soup and lots of onions sliced. I throw it in the crock pot on low all day and just before serving over noodles, add a small container of sour cream and mix it in. Very easy, very yummy. Cole slaw or a tossed salad on the side and wha lah! Kris and Grady just got in from the pool. I watered the flowers and got some things put away. I didn't have time to get in the pool, but will do at the hotel tonight.

Good morning, Violets... We're off to Port Huron today to get my band unfilled. I'm not looking forward to at least a month without it.. We're going 3/4 of the way today and spending the night so we can be there for the 10:20 appt. tomorrow morning. Then we'll turn around and drive 4 hours home. We have little things to get done before the garden walk on Saturday. It's been really warm and sticky here. Thank goodness for the a/c and the pool. I wouldn't have survived otherwise! We're all set for surgery one week from today.. YIKES!!! Off to do some chores around here before we leave. Everyone have a great day. I'll update the countdown when I get back tomorrow night.

    Shrinking violets- part 6!!!

Good morning, Violets.. Quick post... busy morning.. hospital shift, blood work, lunch with a friend, picking up a bench for the backyard. I'd love to get in the pool again today, but it looks like rain. We shall see. Janie.. another layer of jello or some cool whip on top would make it look nicer, but I'm sure it will taste just fine. Mae.. My daughter had some of the M&M pretzels. Yummy of course and glad she had them and not me! I need to step away from that stuff. I gained 1# when I weighed in at WW on Saturday. I figured that wasn't bad for being gone 2 weeks and I'm back on track again. Confession is always good for the soul!:tt2: Heather... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Off to get ready for the day. Everyone have a great one!!

    Shrinking violets- part 6!!!

Good evening, Violets.. Nope Janie.. no firecracker.. just busy with the garden and relaxing. Went to church with Bob today. He gave a great sermon. Even after 41 years of listening to him, I still learn something each time. The people at his church have said they don't want the search process to proceed to quickly... they really love Bob and don't want to see him go. He's loving it there too.. it's a perfect gig for a retired pastor. We went to the Maritime Festival here in town after church and had a fresh whitefish sandwich for lunch. Came home and after checking messages, I changed and went to the pool. I usually do my exercises first, but the sun was shining and I decided to do my lounging first. I kinda fell asleep.. for a half hour and then woke up and did my exercises. I LOVE my pool! We planted a few petunias today to color things up a bit and I have a few little chores to do outside yet before Saturday. Tomorrow Bob has a funeral and I have my hospital shift and then lunch out with the chair of the Board of Trustees of the church. She's the one that got things really rolling to get the minister out. Takes a woman!! I'm off to get some things done out back before the rains come in tomorrow. Everyone enjoy your evening!!

    Shrinking violets- part 6!!!

good afternoon, Violets.. What a gorgeous day. Ethan and I spent an hour in the pool. I exercised and then we floated around and played. He grabs ahold of my shoulders when I jog around the pool so I get a little extra workout. :tt1: We're waiting for his mom to pick him up in an hour and then I need to shower and get dressed for the 50th wedding anniversary. Laura.. glad to hear Carson made it through surgery fine. Glad to hear you guys did too!! Any leads on who robbed your parent's house??? PamELa... great job on your exercising!!! Now about that eating.......:frown: I go weigh in tomorrow at WW. Haven't weighed in 2 weeks, but I don't think there will be a loss. We'll see.

    Shrinking violets- part 6!!!

Good morning, Violets.. Been up for awhile since Ethan arrived at 7:30. He'll be here until 4:30 today and we plan on doing lots of swimming. It looks like a beautiful day today. It's a little chilly now, but supposed to get up to 82 today. Time to work on the tan a little more! (((Laura & Carson))) Hope the surgery goes well!! Approaching 50, Michelle??? Ahem... try approaching MEDICARE age!! And with a broken knee to boot. But then again, on the bright side.... no TOM for me anymore!! See.. there's always IS a bright side!:tt1: Sorry for all your woes... it's been a heck of a year for you, for sure. Just hang in there.. one day at a time and celebrate all the good stuff too!!! Next week at this time, the Bobster and I will be getting ready for the garden walk by visiting all the gardens on the tour. There are 7 this year. Then on Saturday ours will be on display from 10 -4. My only concern is the dog... we'll have to let her out at 9:30 and then hope she can hold it until 4:30! Bob and Jen will be here to help guide people along and answer any questions. The Bobster will be the mulch expert.. lol Off to get dressed and do some laundry before swimming time! Everyone have a great day!

    Shrinking violets- part 6!!!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Lazy, chilly day here today. The pool "boys" are putting a new cover on the pool. Wish I could get in it today, but 62 degree air temp is a little chilly. The water is warm, but I'd never want to get out!! I've been doing laundry all day, plus doing several chores for the bobster. He's coming home a bit early today so we can have dinner together before I go to rehearsal. Not sure if I'm cooking or we're going out. I'm thinking soup sounds really good on a day like today! I ordered a new squirrel proof bird feeder. It got excellent reviews on Amazon, so I hope it works! All the birds are staying away because of the squirrels. Plus they're eating me out of house and home with the seed they are consuming! Hope everyone is having a good day. Will check back after rehearsal tonight.
