SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh it was supposed to be a surprise!!!!!
  4. I was just cleaning out some things in a basket in the kitchen and ran across this picture taken 9 years ago at our son's wedding. It's an NSV for me today cause in that picture you can see the Bobster and I can't begin to get our arms around each other. I told him to stand up today and we hugged and both of us could get our arms all the way around the other!!! Wooooooooohooooooooooooo!!:wink2:

My hair appointment is the 13th!! Nail appointment on the 1st. I loved the last haircut I got and discovered a flat iron so now doing my hair is so much easier and I don't have to pack two curling irons!! You CAN teach an old dog new tricks!!
  6. Jane.. didn't see your post until after I posted mine. Those of us going on the trip are going to have a great time together because we're ALL in the process of a journey and some of us are farther on the journey than others, but we will ALL celebrate each other's SUCCESS at this weight loss battle. There is not a one of us on here that doesn't have a reason to feel proud. And I will be more than happy to be not only the spirtual leader for this trip, but the cheerleader too!! You guys have to understand how GREAT you all have done!! Those of you not going on this trip, hopefully can come on the next or the next or the next!!! And I am equally proud of you all too!! There.... aside from not being able to do the splits, that is my cheerleading routine for the day!!!
  7. Good Morning, Violets.. Wooo hooooo I slept in til 9:30 this morning. We don't have Ethan til 3 so I have the whole day to myself again. Ok, so the Bobster will be around, but that's not a bad thing. As far as the contest goes, I'm so out of it. I'm not even going to weigh til we go to the docs on the 12th. I've been grazing lately and I have to figure out how to stop that. Oh yeah, SHUT MY MOUTH!! What a unique concept!! I did get back into the exercise routine last night. I did 25 mintues on the machines while watching Desperate Housewives and then did my toning stuff in the hot tub. At least I got my 30 mintues in for the day. Tonight the Bobster goes to his Bible study so I have time to exercise then. I was motivated by the contest for ohhhhhhh about an hour and then back to the old habits. I know I've got to jumpstart here sometime!! HOpefully the exercise will do it along with keeping my mouth shut between meals. It's darn chilly here this morning. 38 degrees and only going up to 48 for a high. So much for spring. I thought we were pretty much done with the furnace, but it kicked in this morning again. I'm going to do a little bit of sewing today, pay some bills and maybe even get some reading in. I still haven't finished the Stephen King book I started months ago! Everyone have a great day.. make wise choices (are you listening, Judy???) and drink, drink, drink! TracyinKS... you look radiant!! Hope you have a great time on the field trip today. I remember field trips fondly. I always arranged them for our three kindergarten classes. The neat thing was they were usually in Alpena so I would drive from Alpena 62 miles to work, ride a bus back to Alpena with the kids, but then I got to stay here while the other teachers and parents covered my kids til they got back and got on the bus to go home. Suzie...you have done such a wonderful thing for yourself and your family by losing a whole person!! Stand tall and stand proud. You've done something so extarodinary and you can't dwell on where you came from. Just look at where you're headed. I'm so proud of you!!! And I'm proud of ALL the Violets. Look what we've all done in just a year. There will be a ton o' Violets at goal at this time next year and lots will be comparing TT's and boob jobs, I bet!! TTFN.......

Well, I do that when we go on a cruise. We pack a duffle bag in the suitcase to bring back "stuff". But this trip is going to be more of a time to relax and get to know and enjoy people, rather than a spending trip. That's just for me though. I'll be more than happy to help you all shop and pack!!!

Yep.. clothes all packed and ready to go! Just have to do the toiletries and that will be just before we leave here for the hotel on the 15th. I'm just going to do a carry on. That will limit my spending cause I won't have any room to put anything extra!!
  11. Good early evening, Violets.. turned out to be kind of a lazy day here today. After church we went to see our boat. DSIL's dad did the gutting and redoing of it and it looks awesome!! I bought it for $2,600 on ebay and he said someone offered him $4,000 for it. Way kewl. I told him we'd sell it, I'd get another on ebay and he could redo that one! He was not impressed. He is newly retired and his wife thanked us for getting him out of the house!! Now we have to get a hitch for my car so we can haul the boat to the lakes around here and get some fishing in!! I can't imagine when the boat would have been done if we had been doing all the work. Just no time, not to mention we wouldn't know what we were doing! I was totally thrilled with the result considering he is not a professional at boat restoration. Ethan didn't come over today. DS didn't go golfing so DD and I went shopping while the Bobster and DSIL shot 9 holes. It was fun trying on clothes and shoes, but I didn't buy anything for me... just some shirts for the Bobster. I have plenty of clothes and need to purge another closet soon. We're having a garage sale the week before Kris and I go cruising. It'll give us a little extra spending money. When Kris and I got home from shopping, I decided to have a few kettle chips. They went down smooth, but then BAM, they were stuck and I pb'd 5 times. Note to self. Do NOT eat kettle chips no matter how crunchy and yummy they are. Kris just shakes her head when I head to the bathroom now. I made spinach pie yesterday so we'll have the leftovers for supper tonight. That will go down smoothly. Going to do a few loads of laundry before settling in for the night. BBL... Terry.. the jewelry is gorgeous!! You do great work. Pam....How the heck can a Rottie kill a hummingbird without it ending up being unrecognizable???? I might not want to know the answer to that one.. Suzie....Hugs to you and hope things get better soon. Tracy...hope your parents had a great time on the cruise. I really think we Violets should plan a cruise together for our next trip. (after we see how well we do on this trip!)
  12. Good Morning, Violets.. Chilly here today. It's 35 and I have a new spring outfit to wear to church... arghhhhhh Oh well, I'll just grit my teeth and hope I stay warm cause I'm not giving up the outfit. Just got it yesterday in the mail form Silhouettes and it's so pretty. It's a linen skirt with a matching crochet jacket. I be stylin' today! We're going out for lunch after church and then Ethan is coming over so I can watch him while the Bobster, DD, DS and DSIL can go golfing. I wanted to go to a musical program at the library, but I'll take Ethan any chance I can get. I didn't weigh this morning cause I know I've made some bad choices this week. I'll just wait til we go to the docs on the 12th of May. I don't think I'll be getting another fill cause I have good restriction with this one. I just need to keep making wise choices my priority along with exercise. I got a trikke a couple of years ago and have not been able to use it. I'm going to take it out this week and give it a whirl. Someone on the before and after thread has a picture of her riding hers and I messaged her for tips. She really loves hers so I hope to get the same joy out of mine now that I'm 63# lighter than the last time I tried it. Anybody get one of those ab rockets??? I got one off ebay and should have it his week. DS is taking my ab lounger. It just takes up too much space in my small house. The ab rocket is much more compact. Time to get dressed and fix my hair and make up for church. Everyone have a relaxing morning and a great day. Make wise choices (I am trying!!!!) and drink, drink, drink!!

Shrink'n Violets TIP 'O THE DAY!!

Calories that Don't Count The following food and situations have no calories to speak of ... OTHER PEOPLE'S FOOD: A chocolate mousse that you did not order has no calories. Therefore, have your companion order dessert and you taste half of it. INGREDIENTS IN COOKING: Chocolate chips are fattening, about 50 calories a tablespoon. So are chocolate chip cookies! However, chocolate chips eaten while making chocolate chip Cookies have no calories whatsoever. Therefore make chocolate chip cookies often but don't eat them. FOOD ON FOOT: All food eaten while standing has no calories. Exactly why is not clear, but the current theory relates to gravity. The calories apparently bypass the stomach flowing directly down the legs and through the soles of the feet into the floor, like electricity. Walking seems to accelerate this process, so that a frozen custard or hot dog eaten at a carnival actually has a calorie deficit. CHILDREN'S FOOD: Anything produced, purchased or intended for minors is calorie-free when eaten by adults. This category covers a wide range, beginning with a spoonful of baby tapioca -- consumed for demonstration purposes -- up to and including cookies baked and sent to college. UNEVEN EDGES: Pies and cakes should be cut neatly, in even wedges or slices. If not, the responsibility falls on the person putting them away to "straighten up the edges" by slicing away the offending irregularities, which have no calories when eaten. If pie or cake is neatly cut, but the remainder is not easily divisible into equal servings, it's also permissible to even things up ... without calorie consequence. TV FOOD: Anything eaten in front of the TV has no calories. This may have something to do with radiation leakage, which negates not only the calories in the food but also all recollection of having eaten it. Entire no-calorie dinners are now manufactured and frozen for this purpose. FOOD THAT DOESN'T TASTE GOOD: doesn't count. This is an enormous category covering a diverse range including airline food, cafeteria meals, and dinner at your sister-in-law's. Also dinners manufactured to be eaten in front of the TV. ANYTHING SMALLER THAN ONE INCH: contains no calories to speak of. For example: chocolate kisses, maraschino cherries, cubes of cheese. LEFT-HANDED FOOD: If you have a drink in your right hand, anything eaten with the other hand has no calories. Several principles are at work here. First of all, you're probably standing up at a cocktail party (see "Food on Foot"). Then there's the electronic field: a wet glass in one hand forms a negative charge to reverse the polarity of the calories attracted to the other hand. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it's reversible if you're left-handed. CHARITABLE FOODS: Girl Guide cookies, bake sale cookies, ice cream socials and church strawberry festivals all have a religious dispensation from calories. It's in the Bible. CAKES WITH WRITING ON THEM: Primarily fat, starch and sugar, all cakes are horrendously fattening. However, the calories can be eliminated simply by inscribing "Happy Birthday, Charlie" or "Good Luck, Alice" in colored icing. Not only is it unnecessary to decline, it's impolite. FOOD ON TOOTHPICKS: Sausages, cocktail franks, cheese and the like are all fattening unless impaled on frilled toothpicks. The insertion of a sharp object allows the calories to leak out the bottom. LEFTOVERS: An extra pork chop, the crust of bread, half a Twinkie, anything intended for the garbage has no calories regardless of what happens to it in the kitchen. FOOD EATEN QUICKLY: If you are rushed through a meal, the entire meal doesn't count. Conversely, if you have ordered something fattening and now regret it, you can minimize its calories by gulping it down. CUSTOM MADE FOOD: Anything somebody made "just for you" must be eaten regardless of the calories because to do otherwise would be uncaring and insensitive. Your kind intentions will not go unrewarded. (See "Charitable Foods.")

Being an elderly person, I remember the tune vividly. It is from the musical Bye Bye Birdie and it is sung by Ann Margaret. Loved the movie with Paul Lynde and Janet Leigh... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the good old days... Bye Bye Birdie (1963)
  19. Good morning, Violets.. Today is an alone day for me and I'm going to enjoy it. No Ethan, no Bobster (he's at a meeting out of town for the day) and no place I have to be at all except where I want. Sooooooo I have a list of things I want to get done today and we'll see how many of them I can cross off. We had a good time at DD's last night for dinner. Everything stayed down for a change. The Pistons were slaughtered in basketball and the Tigers lost by 1 so it was a bad evening in that respect. I still feel bad about the Pistons this morning. I'm a devoted fan and they played just awful last night. It hurt to watch. I'm going to start putting out my clothes for the Texas trip. That's coming up fast and I'm a little anal about getting things ready ahead of time, so I have plenty of time to change my mind about outfits before I have to leave. I need to make a hotel reservation for Thursday the 15th cause my flight leaves at 10:30 and the airport is 3 hours away. The Bobster is going to take me down. Kat.. hope everything is going ok there. Jenn.. glad your fill is working. I sure know mine is there now. Hope everyone else checks in today after all the technical difficulties with the site yesterday. Have a great day everyone!! I'm off to tackle my list.

  21. Congrats on whatever it is you handled with whomever, Michelle. Which version of Michelle will I be meeting in Texas??:tt2: Pam.. wooo hooooo on the suspension!! I always used to love it when the trouble makers were absent, although it seems that the little stinkers are always the healthiest ones in the bunch. Either that or mom and dad didn't want them home! Jenn.. what kind of school are you talking about?? Suzie.. hope you're having a better day today!! I ditto what the others have said.. remember to take care of yourself too! Well, the tv is up, the couch has arrived, Ethan is sleeping, my dessert for tonight is in the fridge and I'm going to go read my tabloid magazines and get all the dirt on the celebrities for the week. Everyone have a great afternoon and evening.

Will Homeland Security arrest me if I SCREAM in the airport????? Will you guys bail me out?? Oh wait... I have a suspicion you all will be SCREAMING tooooooo!!!
  23. Anyone else have trouble getting on here today??? Finally it's working again. When Jenn emailed that she had been on the site, I was thinking maybe it was my computer!! I guess I didn't get on here early enough. Ethan is here for the day and it's rainy so we won't go outside. He has pink eye and I have to give him the meds when he lays down for his nap which he is NOT inclined to do yet! Our tv is up on the wall now and the new couch is coming sometime after 2. We're headed to DD's house this evening for dinner and the Piston's game. I'm wearing my Pistons shirt today for good luck. It's huge on me, but I'm loving it!! I think this fill is the one for me. I can't eat much and am feeling full after just a few tablespoons full of whatever it is I'm eating. Back to trying to lull the little guy to sleep. Everyone have a good day. HAPPY BANDIVERSARY, TRACYINKS!!!!!!
