Good afternoon, Violets. Had a really nice church service today, but was bummed beforehand. My friend who was all excited about getting the lapband surgery was bold by her husband that she couldn't do it because of statistics... he was quoting me things like... 88% of people have complications... 34% have slippage, no long term studies on effects... blah, blah, blah. I countered with.... how many complications does she have with the extra weight she's carrying?? What's the long term prognosis for her at this weight? He says she can do it the "right" way. I said 92% of people that do it the "right" way fail. I emailed him just now and said they needed to go to the seminar so he could as the doctor there all the questions. I said I don't know the stasticts and facts. I just know in my heart it was the best thing I could do for myself and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. He's extremely stubborn and is afraid of losing her.. she's 9 years older than he is and it's a second marriage. It's just heartbreaking to see the difference in her attitude today when she was so excited Friday when we talked about it. I feel so helpless. She was standing next to me after church when several people said I looked really great and that I'd lost a lot of weight. I know that bothered her as it would me if the roles were reversed. Sounds like we're all raising our hands to get back to the bandster rules and knock off those remaining pounds. I'm definitely in. Got to be a slim and sexy Grandma by next March!!!! Good evening, Violets. I just got back from spending the day with our family at Kris's house. We had a cookout and then watched a slide show of pics from the cruise. And in the middle of the pics of the cruise was a pic of a pregnancy test and the results said "yes+" We all were shocked and then realized what that meant. I'M GONNA BE A GRANDMA AGAIN!!! Daughter Kris is pregnant!!! They've been trying for over a year and she's 4-5 weeks along now. They are not going to tell anyone else until after the first trimester, but I knew I could share my good news with my violets! I'm soooooooooo excited for her. She's been wanting this for so long. They will have lots to celebrate on their 5th anniversary in August. The baby is due in March. Sooooooooooo we have to change our cruise we had booked for Hawaii for our 40th from March to February. No way I'm missing this birth! I'm singing a solo in church tomorrow so am heading to bed to rest and relax and thank God for a new grandbaby!! Everyone have a good night..

Good morning, Violets!! We just got back from watching the fireworks. The neat part was we were on Lake Huron in our BOAT watching the fireworks on shore. It was sooooooooooooo kewl! Kris's father in law brought his boat and we brought ours and we tied up to each other after we anchored and all the family was together to watch. Tomorrow we go to Kris's house for another cookout and some fishing. The grandkids got in the pool today and then the pump went out so don't know what the deal is with that. At least they had a day of fun in the water. Got some great news today. We have a couple from church that we are good friends with and we cruise with. Bill is our financial advisor and his wife is Kathy and is extremely overweight. After I got my band, she asked a lot of questions, but said nope.. she didn't want surgery. Well, today she said she is ready and she has a lot of the prelim work done. I'm so excited for her!! She's 65 and has to weigh in at at least 300#. I know this is going to be a big change for her. woooo hoooooo!! Laura.. have a great time and win lots of money so you can share with your devoted Violet sistas!! Denise.. your grandsons look just beautiful. How lucky to have two to spoil at the same time. Suzie.. take care of yourself!! We're anxiously awaiting what your doctor has to say. Michelle... your kids are adorable even though they are VERY big!!! :thumbup: Love your son's hat and your daughter's smile! Time for me to hit the sheets. Ok Tracy.. I'll kick your butt if you'll kick mine. I changed my ticker back to the original and I'm going to work hard at getting that sucker to get back down. No excuses, k?? I have to step away from the sweets. They are my downfall. I know I'm at my sweet spot on the band. Regular food goes down very slowly. It's the crap that just slides on down. I'm gonna control my head hunger one way or another. Today is the first day. Deal???

Can't wait to see my grandkids and have them here for a whole afternoon and evening. The pool is cleaned out and ready for them to splash away! IF it gets warm enough I might even venture into it. Better living through chemistry! Suzie.. what did the doctor say about your knee?????? I weighed myself this morning for the first time after the cruise and needless to say, I have some work to do. Got to get back to being really serious about this or I'm gonna be stuck at this weight for more months. Not complainin' mind you, cause I'm in a way better place now than a year and a half ago, but I know I can do better. Catch ya'll later!!

Good afternoon Violets.. Ethan has gone home so it's back to work here for me. Got lots of lawn trimming to do plus potato salad to make. I was going to make a fruit salad, but opted for buying a watermelon instead. Lot less work!! Pam...have you noticed there are no flying insects at night in Germany??? No screens on the windows at all, as I remember. I also remember blowing the fuse in an entire apartment building trying to plug my curling iron in. Sure do miss all that good German bread, meat and cheese.. not to mention the gelato and Italian ice. Have you been to an ice cream shop where they make ice cream "creations"? They make ice cream into the shape of steak, or spaghetti.. it's soooooo kewl.. and mighty tasty too. Laura...the cookie bouquet sounds so neat. No way you knew he was going on a diet!! He'll just have to ration himself and make the treat last that much longer. Suzie.. how you get some relief for your knee!!! Kat!! Welcome back!! And thanks for the cute, cute birthday card. Good Morning, Violets.. Ethan is here so can't stay long. He's feeding the yorkies left over crumbs from the huge milkbones for Jetta. They're loving it. Pam.. I've been to Germany and took a German class and still don't know what the heck they are saying. Glad you're having such a good time. I do remember the keyboards in Germany and they are really different. You're doing very well with the transition!! I have a nail appointment at 10 and then we have a guy coming over to give us an estimate on installing new baseboard moulding. We got our cell phone bill yesterday and my mouth dropped. It was twice our normal bill. When we checked it out it was all Canada calls when our cat was being put down and right afterwards. $160 in roaming charges.. :Banane30::eek: And our gas bill was $100 more than usual and that's with the fuel economy of the Buick over the truck we had. :biggrin::eek: Glad we got our stimulus check, but it's going to pay for bills, not to boost the economy. :thumbup::eek: Suzie.. neither of us can use our "pool". Mine is still way cold and not looking good for this weekend unless the sun comes out and stays out. Our grandkids are coming up tonight and we're having a cookout here tomorrow. So I have lots of cleaning to do today. I ride in the parade through town tomorrow.. Laura.. I'll be on the DEMOCRATIC float.. Tracy... congrats on your last day AND dh getting the new job! Hey Violets.... I'm HOME!!! I read through 10 pages of posts last night at the hotel while Kris was studying, but was too tired to post. I'm more tired today and have laundry in, but headed to bed so I can be up for my hospital shift tomorrow. It's back to reality. No chocolates on the pillow, no waiter at dinner, no white sand beaches and no gliding through the air at 400 feet hoping I'd live to see another day!! Will post more tomorrow. I'm sooooooooooo glad to be home!!!

No time to check all the posts. Just wanted to say HI and let you know I'm having a wonderful time. Weather has been great for the most part. Para-sailing was awesome, but not anything I'd do again!! YIKES!! Won $200 so far in the Casino. Today we're in St. Thomas and tomorrow will be St. Maarten. It's BEACH day tomorrow so that will be fun. Hope everyone is doing well. Will be in touch as much as possible!! Miss you guys!!!

Good Morning, Violets.. It's 4:45 a.m. and the shuttle to the airport comes at 5. Just wanted to pop in and say good bye before we leave. We're sooooo excited. The Bobster got me a new camera for the trip so I'll spend the plane ride figuring out how to use the darn thing!! Everyone keep well and I'll post when I can. And I'm with you Suzie... a Violet outing is best. I'm game to go to your house!!!! I'll even wear my Royals shirt! Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Good Morning, Violets.. I'm up, showered and getting the last minute things packed. I couldn't sleep last night. I finally dozed off about 2:30 and here I am up at 6. Gonna be a long day for an old lady, but luckily Kris will drive the 4 hours it takes to get to the airport city. Tomorrow morning at this time she and I will be on a plane to Florida!! It's 48 degrees here right now. I am so ready for warmer weather and some sunshine! Terry... I have my bracelet packed and will take a pic of it and me on the ship. Can't wait to show of my "original, commissioned work"!! Everyone stay healthy and safe while I'm gone. I'm gonna miss my Violet "fix".

Hi there, Baycity! I'm here on this site every day though not always on this thread. I've lost 63# so far and am at a plateau now. I'm so thrilled with what I've accomplished so far, but sure wish I could get the scale to start moving again. I broke the final pounds into 10# increments and that's my ticker on the bottom here. S l o w l y, it's coming off, but certainly not like a year ago. Hope things go well with you. I love my Port Huron doctor and staff!!

He's only here til noon and since his Mom was up for work at 5:30 a.m. and Ethan was up at the same time she asked me to please make sure he didn't nap this morning so she can nap with him this afternoon. I have my job cut out for me! I'm going to go walking with him in about a half hour. HOpefully he won't fall asleep in the stroller! Everyone have a great day. Hey there you Texan Violets. Do any of you know of Dr. Cribbins at the Texas Weight Management Center?? One of my new members of my support group had him as her surgeon and she said he put in 10cc's in her 14 cc band on the day of surgery. She has only lost 10# since February and has had one fill of 2 ccs here in Michigan. So at 12 ccs in a 14cc band she is feeling no restriction at all. I suggested she ask about a fluro to see if the band actually has all that in it. She's not had fluro with the doctor she found here in Michigan. She went to Texas for the surger cause she was a self pay and it was $6,000 cheaper there than in Michigan plus her son lives in Dallas. Any info would be appreciated. Got my sewing stuff cut out today and tomorrow I'll sew it all together. We're headed out to our Democratic Party meeting. I have to take minutes cause the secretary is out of town and I HATE taking minutes.. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Catch you all later.

Good Morning, Violets... I'm here... just busy getting ready for the cruise. We leave on Saturday. Today I have my hospital shift to get things caught up so things won't be behind when I'm gone for a week. Then I'm going to TRY and get some sewing in. I have some shorts outfits to make for my year old granddaughter, Amelia. I haven't had the time to sew with Ethan here most every day, but he's not here today so I hope to accomplish something! The Bobster and I went biking last night. We got 6 miles in, but I had to wear a jacket and socks and GLOVES!! Can you imagine?? It's 55 degrees here right now and gloomy. We're supposed to get rain yet again and no sun so of course my swimming pool which is now down to 68 degrees will not warm up no matter what we do. I'm tempted to do laps in the hot tub!! I miss my pool exercise. At least I'll be able to get water exercise in on the cruise in between scoping out hunky cabana boys. The Bobster and I had a Schwans meal last night .. chicken, broccoli, pasta and alfredo sauce. It went down slow and came back up fast. I keep trying to sneak the forbidden foods in and my band keeps telling me, "nice try, but it ain't goin' down". Time to finish up my oatmeal, get my hair curled and make up on and head to the hospital. Everyone have a great day. Enjoy the sunshine if you've got it and make wise food choices!!!

It's 49 degrees here and the furnace is running. Can you believe it????? I'm NEVER gonna get into my pool!! At least in 4 days, I'll be on a ship headed for the Caribbean and warm weather. Can't wait for this special week with Kristin. I have a flute rehearsal this morning. Had a singing rehearsal last night and Ethan comes today so I won't have much spare time. I have a couple of shorts outfits I want to sew for my DGD Amelia before Saturday. Hope I can do that Thursday when I don't have any committments and Ethan is with his Mom. Laura... you know there are several of us that could form a team and go on "America's Got Talent" with our stomach puppets!!! Whadda ya think? I see music, I see choreography. Good Morning, Violets.. I'm sitting here s l o w l y eating my oatmeal and raisins. Yesterday for Father's Day, Kris made her Dad some pasties.. cornish meat pies. He LOVES them as that's what he grew up on as the grandson of a copper miner. Well.... he did fine with his. I ate mine s l o w l y....... I THOUGHT. But lo and behold I got that awful feeling and went to the bathroom and pb'd. Then it was going back and forth to the bathroom at least 5 times for the same thing. It still wasn't all out. We left for the 30 minute ride home and had to stop 2 times for me to get out of the car and slime and pb. It was well over an hour before I felt normal again. I've never had anything stuck that long before. Needless to say, I'm never eating pasties again. Pam... have a great last day of school!!! I remember the feeling well. And congrats on having that "other" roomie with you.. Jane.. hang in there. We're all here for you, just give us a call!! TracyK.. you're going to have a great summer with Macy and lots of new things to keep you busy. I always worked, but then again I loved my job and I always made more money than the Bobster plus I had all the insurance benefits. Laura.. beautiful china cabinet!!! Good morning, Violets.. I'm up and getting ready to start my day. Have a funeral at 11, then Lap band support group, then funeral at 4. I sing at the first one and play flute at the second. Then I'm going to take a long bike ride tonight and then relax on my next to last day of being a bachelorette. A week from today Kris and I will be headed downstate for some shopping before we leave on our cruise on Sunday the 22nd. Can't believe it's almost here already!! Everyone have a great day. I have 13 letters in my entire name. Does that make me lucky this Friday the 13th??? It's up to a blistering 84 degrees here. Ok, so it's not Texas weather, but it's the closest we get here!! Heading out to dinner. Will check back later.
