Tracy.. the cabinets are gorgeous!! You both did a great job!! Laura.. first pot roast I've made in years and years. Kris got some beef from a co-worker and she said I could have what I wanted so I grabbed a round bone roast, a round steak, ribs and some ground beef. That should do us for a long time. I put in a ton of carrots and some potatoes. Sure hope it's as good as it looks! Michelle.. our dogs are at the groomer right now. And their dog food has gone up to $30 a bag. And these are tiny little squirts!! What we don't do for our pets! Well, the gas pipe guys have gone for the day. And the job isn't done. They found out they are missing a little part...... the one that connects the whole shebang to the gas! And here I was hoping to be in a warm pool tomorrow afternoon. I don't know when they will finish now if they can't locate that part. The guy says it wasn't in the bag when they opened it up. Sounds like a "man excuse" for "I opened the bag, the part fell out and I can't find it" to me!! One rehearsal done and another one to go this evening. Plus I need to practice some flute parts for my rehearsal tomorrow. Can we say "music overload??"!! Everyone have a great afternoon! PamELa...soooooooo what did your students learn today?? And what did YOU learn today?? It's 86 degrees here right now and I am in an a/c house instead of a NON a/c classroom with 25 little munchkins who want to know when it's time to play, time to eat, time to nap, time to go home.... I know I made the right decision to retire when I did!!!

Good afternoon, Violets.. Just got back from singing at a funeral. Afterwards, I was asked if I would sing the song at our church's Fall Association Meeting. So I guess I have another gig coming up! I'm on my way to yet another rehearsal and then home to make a pot roast for tonight before I go to my next rehearsal this evening. Tomorrow is flutes, hospital shift and then choir rehearsal. Times flies when yer' having fun. I'll check up on all the posts when I get some time this afternoon. The gas pipeline is almost in. I can also almost feel the warm water in the pool. Catch ya later, Violets!!

Good morning, Violets.. I slept in this morning til 9 a.m. And that's after taking a long nap yesterday. We went to see Mama Mia last night and it was a cute, no brainer movie. Really enjoyed the music and of course my man, Pierce Brosnan. We're working in the yard today and getting the house cleaned up for the choir party next Saturday. Gonna be a busy week here. I have a funeral to sing for tomorrow. The gas pipes will be laid tomorrow for the pool heater and then I have a rehearsal with one of the members of my singing group before the formal rehearsal in the evening. Wednesday is flute and choir rehearsals, Thursday is nails and Friday I have to try and get into the hospital for my volunteer shift. Such is retirement. But the good part is I'll be able to squeeze in some pool time each day since it will finally be heated. Terry...keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you're doing well. PamELa...love the pics and the do. You both look so happy!! TracyK... did you have to batten down the hatches?? Everything ok there today?? Michelle....how's the cat?? Good morning to all the Violets.. Everyone have a great day. After the work in the backyard today we're going to chill out fishing tonight.

297 Days till the Violet Reunion Bandiversary Bash and 1st ever Violet Baby Shower! -
Laura.... I really like the name Lily. And any of the boy names you suggested I like too. My new grandbaby is going to be either Madison Rose or Grady. TracyK.. hope you're ok there where you are. Sounds like Gustav is going to be a really bad hurricane. Michelle....don't ya just love pets?? I came downstairs this morning to a huge puddle of pee in the living room. Thank goodness we don't have carpeting anymore. That would have been a tragic mess. We leave the garage dog in at night now and she must have become inpatient with us this morning and decided to squat wherever she pleased. PamELa.. hope your party went well. Give Susanne my congrats!! HOpe she enjoys retirement as much as I do. Off to watch some tv and then head to bed. Everyone sleep well. Hugs to you Terry...
-
Terry.. so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I'm glad you were able to be with her. She's pain free and in a much better place. Now you need to take care of yourself and your family. You continue to be in my prayers.

Good Morning, Violets.. I'm up early to get ready for church. I have two flute duets to play today and I get to FINALLY announce to the church that Kris is pregnant. She'll be there helping me with fellowship time after church, so she'll get to hear all the congratulations herself. We had a good time at the art fair yesterday. I got several things for the garden and Ethan was really good considering it was really crowded and hot. Today is a lazy day for us. We're going to the movies this evening and taking a nap this afternoon. Tomorrow will be working in the yard and house day. Rescheduled choir party is next Saturday so have to get things ready again for that. Everyone have a good day today. Catch ya'll later. Hope everyone stays safe with Gustav barreling in.

Good afternoon, Violets.. Went for my eye exam this morning and then to the bank and then to the jeweler to get a ring fixed for the Bobster. He bent it all to heck planting the new trees. I am getting my first new glasses in years. Last time I just got lenses 4 years ago. Dr. says my eyes have improved... what?? Maybe that's another perk from lapband surgery. Maybe my eyes aren't so fat anymore! Anyway got some new frames.. more squared this time with really pretty bows and got transistion lenses so I don't have to carry around sun glasses anymore. Ethan is here for the day. Things seem to be calmed down at his house. DIL is back home and things seem to be working out. Time will tell. Ethan is just starting to snooze on the couch so I think I'm going to join him on the other couch and get a couple of winks in. The Bobster and I are going to see Mama Mia tonight. It finally arrived at the theatre here. Everyone have a good afternoon. Oh.. and my choice for all time would be Pierce Brosnan......... swoon!!!!!!! I would definitely NOT kick him out of my bed for eating crackers!!!

I might be wrong, but I don't think PamELa is talking about work!!

301 Days till the Violet Reunion Bandiversary Bash and 1st ever Violet Baby Shower! -
Pssssssssssssssssst PamELa..... Cary Grant isn't with us anymore. I think that makes him not so hot as the others.

Good evening, Violets.. It's true what they say. Friends should not discuss religion or politics. So let's call a truce. I know I brought it up, but I was thrilled with my shirt being too big. From now on it's zzzzzzzippppppppppppppp about politics. NOW, about my church.. I guess everything is smoothing out with DIL and DS. She's back home and will be dropping Ethan off here tomorrow on her way to work. Ethan is starting to talk a little more. When he's on the couch in the living room and I'm working at the computer, I'll all of a sudden hear him say........ "HELLO?? HELLLLO!!" It's so darn cute. Then of course when he wants me it's "mom mom". I get my eyes examined tomorrow. I cannot wait to get some new lenses. These are so scratched up I can barely read anything. I want to get the lenses that change with the sunlight. I hate carrying around the clip on sunglasses or having to switch glasses to prescription sunglasses. Michelle.. how did the soccer game go?? I remember those days well. Suzie!!! Shutting your pool down next week??? Even here in Northern Michigan I never shut ours down until the middle of September. We always have Indian summer in September and I want to swim as much as possible before I have to give it up. It's supposed to be in the 80's all week next week. Sure am glad I'm at home and not teaching in a NON air conditioned classroom. We got back a little bit ago from Kris and Nathan's. They are getting new carpeting tomorrow and we went with his folks to help move furniture since Kris isn't able to do that with that little baby in her tummy. Nathan brought home pizza for supper. I sat and watched everyone eat. No way can I eat pizza. I probably should have pulled the top off of a couple of pieces, but I didn't feel like eating cheese and pepperoni. Sooooo we stopped at the store on the way home and I got some crab salad. I ate that and it was yummy. I have enough left for lunch tomorrow. We go back on Saturday and help put everything back and then head to the Arts and Crafts show. There will be over 600 booths to check out. I can't wait! It's the biggest craft show in Northern Michigan and happens every Labor Day weekend only a couple of miles from Kris's house. Time for me to think about getting ready for bed. Got to be up and showered and out the door by 9:30 tomorrow morning. I know that's late for you working gals, but it's the middle of the night for us retired folks!! :cursing: Everyone have a great night. Sleep well...

Mitch Albom writes the sports column for the Detroit Free Press. It's one column in the paper I look forward to reading. He's an awesome writer. I've read Tuesdays with Morrie and Five People You Meet in Heaven. Tear jerkers for sure.

No prob, Laura. The Bobster and I will be doing the same thing during the Republican Convention. You think McCain will be up that late??? He's older than me, ya know. ( couldn't resist)..

Ummmmmm that'll be a couple days yet. -
NSV. I ordered an Obama O8 long sleeved t shirt, XL. It arrived yesterday and it's tooooooooo big. But I'm wearing it anyway! I'm proud to be a Democrat, proud of Obama (sorry, Laura) and WAY proud that an XL is too big! Suzie... the pool heater is IN. Now it's waiting for the guys to dig the gas line. The pool guy said one of his customers had their pool open through November and it cost them $400 a month to heat it that last month! :smile2: I'm aiming to have it open through October and that's it. But at least we can open it up in April next year instead of June.

Good morning, Violets.. Had a busy day yesterday and didn't get to post. Ethan was here for the morning and then I had choir rehearsal in the evening. Things are going ok here. Jen is still at her girlfriend's, but Joe doesn't seem to mind. He says it's much calmer without her around. He's a great daddy.. so I'm just taking care of Ethan and waiting to hear what happens. She is severely depressed, but can't afford the $500+ a month for the medications she needs. I HATE the health care system we have. TracyinKS.. here's a link I found. eMedicine - Morphea : Article by Kendra G Bergstrom I experienced the same thing you did when I went in with my mom for eye surgery. I got so light headed and had to sit down also, but we made it through. We daughters do what we have to do when push comes to shove. My mom has been gone for 4 years now and I still think of her every day. I know she'd be so proud and happy at what I've accomplished and her grandchildren and great grandchildren have done. I tell you, it's really, really strange for me to be the grandma now. I'm not used to this old age stuff. Don't think I ever will be, but it's not anything I can change. Ethan's been here all day everyday for most of this week. I don't know if Jen will be back on Monday or not. Time will tell. Joe doesn't seem concerned about it, but I'm not sure he knows this might be permanent. I'm just going to take it a day at a time and hope for the best. Gotta go read the Foot Book for the billionth time to Ethan. Everyone have a great day!
