    Itchy???

Ya, I had a rash too after the first week, and it seemed like any cream I put on it was just making it worse. It helped when I would make sure to wash thoroughly and use my hairdryer on low to dry the skin. I used a mix of tea tree and lavender occasionally to sooth and sterilize, but nothing directly on the wounds. I definitely feel like a ginuea pig too!

    Itchy???

At first I thought is was glue coming out, but on the large wound in the middle the scab came off and it was very obvious that I was looking at a stich (thin white thread). I tried to call my doc yesturday but didn't get through. I'll try again today. I wish they would spend a little more time talking about how things will feel on the OUTSIDE of my body when I was healing. I felt well prepared with what's going on INSIDE, but what I don't know/don't understand freaks me out when it could result in ugly scars!

    Itchy???

I got banded on Feb 6th. The itchiness just got worse and worse and I thought I was being really careful not to actually itch the site but the small wound on the lower left (when I look down at it) is looking red and puffy still. I had a reaction to the glue and tried to get it off as much as I could about 2 weeks after surgery and just use some bandages but since the skin around the incisions was so red, bumpy and irritated the bandages just made my skin more angry. I'm going to call my doc tomorrow because I'm afraid things aren't suppose to itch still. plus on two of my sites I have little white stich threads poking through. Ugh! Nothing like feeling anxious, itchy and fat to make a great start to the day. *Can this starting stage be over yet!?*
  4. Just had my lap band put in today (it's 1am now). My anasteciologist (sp?) was great, I was in the operating room and then I blinked, and I was in the recovery room. I felt pretty alert and not too uncomfortable. My throat was really dry and all I wanted was some Water. Once they moved me to the short stay room I was able to drink some water and the pasty protien drink. I was very anxious to get home because I kept wanting to get up and walk around. I was out of surgery by about 11am and didn't leave the hospital until 4 or so. My upper back reallly ached from the gas, and it still does. My surgical assistant said that gas-x doesn't do much since the gas is actually in my abdominal cavity and not in my GI but a lot of people on here say it's very helpful so I'll probably pick some up tomorrow. My insides deffinately feel like they got stirred up and as the main pain supressant from surgery wore off, my tummy deffinately felt very tender with a few spikes of pain as I tried to get up out of bed. The drive home felt horrible and cause me to dry heave as soon as I got out of the car. It's been hard to tell if I'm hungry or if I'm just soar (probably both) and I am slowly feeling less discomfort when I take deep breaths. I'm feeling a little shivery on the inside and running slightly warm at 99 dagrees but was told to not worry unless it breaks 101, it's just my body freaking out. Incision sights look pretty knarly right now, but I assumed as much. They just used surgical "glue" so that the damage to my skin would be as minimal as possible. Reading everyone's posts, it sounds like I should expect to start feeling noticably better in a couple of days. My doc also told me to get walking as soon as I can to aid the healing process and move the gas out. I'm probably going to pick up some Milk of Magnesia since I haven't had a bowl movement and I wonder if that's whats causing my additional discomfort. All in all it went well, just... let's face it, surgery kinda sucks. weight.png
