Jenn, I also have only told a few people; my parents, my sister who has the band, my cousin who has the band, my two best friends, and of course my husband and kids. As far as anyone else is concerned they can think what they want. If people ask me what I am doing I am just going to tell them I am eating smaller and healthier meals, and excercising more. People get so weird when you tell them about it. I guess it is because they are not educated on the subject. Well, good luck to you!

Friday is coming pretty fast now. Last week the days dragged, this week they seem to be flying by!. I got all the stuff that I will need for post-op yesterday. All my clear liquids, broths, cream soups. I have to be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks after the surgery. Plus I got Gas-X, chapstick, candy to suck on (sugar free), thanks to all of your sugestions. I don't think I would have thought about any of that stuff otherwise. Thank you! God bless to all of you, and have a great V-day. It is my 8th anniversary today. Can't wait to get banded. I am so pumped! I have wanted this for so long. I got all of my post-op stuff at the store yesterday. I have to be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks afterwards. I am getting mine done in Mexico, so I leave Thursday morning. Good luck to you to!!

I think we will always love food. We just have to learn to eat to live not to live to eat. Good luck on your consultation! Let us know how it goes. Change can be really good! I also have anxiety, but your doctors will know before hand, and help you relax. And, it is ok to be a little scared, afterall it is unkown territory (for now).

Wow 45 grams of Protein? That is a hell of a lot of protein in a shake. I will have to try and find it, to try. Thanks. My pre-op diet is almost over. And then the 3 weeks of liquids start. Woo-hoo.

Good luck Dee. It sounds like you are in a great mind set, and you are lucky to have someone guide you through it. You sound so positive. Hernia surgeries are hard to recover from, so don't push yourself take the time you need to recover . My surgery is this friday, the 17th. I am so excited. I wish you luck!

Dr. Ortiz is doing my surgrey this upcoming Friday. I am excited, a little worried about the flights home. I live in Idaho, so I have a few airports to go through the day after surgery. Good luck. What tests do they run before surgery there?

I am so sorry your friends are so negative, and hurtful towards your journey to health and happiness. We all deserve better friends than that. I haven't been banded yet, I will be a week from today. I am kind of ashamed of myself for not letting all of my friends and family know. I just don't want people to treat me that way. My best friend and her husband know, and they are so happy that I have decided to make this change in my life. But, the truth is I am really scared at how people will look at me, and react when I do lose all my weight. On one hand I really don't care because I am doing this to be healthy and to live a long life with my kids and husband. But, we all care how our friends make us feel right? Anyways, stand your ground, and when the time comes for me to, I know I will. Best wishes, be proud of your achievements, and don't let anyone take them away from you!

Best wishes for JadaB today!! Enjoy your journey. I can not wait until the 17th to get here. The thought of it almost consumes me. I had to get out last night, so I went to Puss n' Boots with my family. I smuggled snacks in for all of them, and for myself I smuggled in a light protein shake.

Do a search on the internet for Bariatric doctors in your area. Or type in lapband doctors. You will get a lot of hits. Make sure you do your research, there are good doctors out there, and then there are great doctors out there. Make sure you know all that is involved with the process, before and after the band placement. It is exciting. Good luck.

Queen Bea you will get to used to the shakes. I drink Muscle Milk Light. I drink 2 a day and have a Lean Cuisine. I have 10 days until my surgery. The time goes by fast, but it is also slow because my surgery is always on my mind. I am so excited!! Good luck to you!

Hello all. I am a 34 and morbidly obese. I am 226 lbs right now. I am in my pre- op diet phase. My Lapband surgery is on Februaru 17. I am so ready for this tool to be placed in me for my future health and success. I have wanted this surgery for about 7 years now, and now that it almost time for my surgery I can hardly stand the anticipation. I am ready for all of the steps of the journey.
