Dizziness And Dry Eyes??
Melissa76tx replied to lisaholland73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The dizzyness sounds alot to me like low blood sugar. I've had a few of those spells...definitely scary for me. I would sip on some orange juice if it happened again. Since you are 10 days op, I'd recommend finding something to bring it up in the form of a liquid instead of a solid. I've been banded for 16 months and have constant dry eyes. I never have thought much about it being related to surgery though, but now after ya'lls comments, it has to be related to it. I upped my water intake to 100 ounces a day and that has helped a little. Now if the dang pollen would just go away!! -
Yes it will diminish greatly!! Just hang in there and be assured that it will get better...you are in what people call "bandster hell"...hopefully as soon as you start getting your fills, you will find bandster heaven

Surgery Tomorrow - 4/26
Melissa76tx replied to LYBO1979's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck to the both of you! Don't rush yourself after surgery...take your time with things and listen to your doctor's orders and follow them to a "T"...The surgery will be over and done with before you even know it!! -
First and foremost, this is not written to offend anyone or upset anyone. I log in daily every morning for motivation. I understand that not everyone is a complete success with the lap band. However, I believe that if they look deep inside and evaluate the situation, they will see that the majority of the time the fault lies within. Of course there will be some where the band simply didn't work, but I believe that is the first excuse people throw when they don't see the weight coming off and staying off as they hope for. We all are different and will all lose weight at different speeds. I'm 17 months post op and have been a slow but steady loser. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't want it lose it very fast. But for me, slow and steady seems to be the way my body and the band are working and I'm good with that. Every pound lost is one pound the right direction. However, for the people who say that they hate it...that their doctor lied to them... that they want it taken out and gone...can you do it without it?? If so, why in the world did you get it in the first place? From my experience, this is so much more of a mental journey than a physical one. If you absolutely hate your band and wish you have never done the surgery, that is your decision and I will respect that. However, I just don't want to continually read over and over again that the band failed someone. It is a simple medical device, that is all.

1 More Til Surgery
Melissa76tx replied to Anume 937's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to both of you! I'm 15 months post op and it was the best decision I ever made. I also took off work alot longer than what I believe I needed. The pain isn't near what I expected it to be. -
More Than Half Of Weight Gained Back
Melissa76tx replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep your head up!! You can do it. You've done it before and will keep succeeding. One pound lost is a pound in the right direction. Just take things one day at a time and when you get to see your doctor, be completely honest and open hearted with him/her. It sounds like a good fill will get you back on track if you don't ever feel full. I went thru a time when I wouldn't eat at work because I didn't really feel hungry, but once I was at home in the evenings I couldn't find anything to make me feel full. I agree with spacing out several small meals during the day. If nothing else it will help keep your blood sugar stabilized and help with the sugar cravings. -
That is GREAT!! Keep up the good work

I'm 15 months out and my stomach makes all kinds of noises. It doesn't really grumble like it's hungry but definitely makes noises at the quietest moments it can find...such as the middle of church service..lol

Did My Band Slip
Melissa76tx replied to robin32470's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad you are were able to get to the doctor so quickly. They will have the answers for you I'm sure. I hope your pain goes away and your doctor informs you as to what is going on. Keep us informed!! -

Scared To Death Of Plastic Surgery!
Melissa76tx replied to Cheryldee's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I completely understand what you are thinking!! I too have had those thoughts and worries. I had lap band in January of 2011 and as the weight starting coming off, I could see my body changing of course, but could also see where the excess skin makes me just as self conscious as all the weight I was carrying did. I am terrified of plastic surgery and have exercised to the point of exhaustion to tone up the parts that bother me..mostly my arms and upper thighs. But, like you said, I definitely need the resassurance that the next step won't be nearly as bad as what I am expecting it to be! -
Wow!!! I'm completely shocked at what some doctors are charging for fills and office visits. I have no insurance, so I'm out of pocket on everything. My doctor doesn't charge for office visits and fills are only $140. There have been several times where no fill was done and I walked out not paying anything at all. I would definitely question them as to why they are charging so much!

I Would Love To Be Your Buddy, Your Mentor Or Whatever You Need
Melissa76tx replied to MOMW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I definitely need a buddy to help with the rough days and the good days as well. I was banded seventeen days before you . I'm a mother of two wonderful, highly energetic children..lol. I'm from northeast Texas and self employed so I stay busy all of the time. I don't have any close friends who have had this procedure done so at times I feel I don't really have anyone to talk to about the challenges I deal with. Would love to hear from you! -
Share ideas, What did you eat today ?
Melissa76tx replied to kimmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My weight less has stalled so I'm trying new things/ways of eating. My doctor tells me at every appointment, no protein shakes, no protein bars, no liquid calories what so ever....however, looking at alot of what people are logging, they are having great success including the shakes and bars. So needless to say, I'm very confused at this point. I'm also told that I might not be getting in enough calories per day and putting my body into metabolic shutdown. Has anyone else experienced this?? -
Fills- Need Advice And Information
Melissa76tx replied to JustDoIt130's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor has been very good about listening to me since day one. I was banded 14 months ago and each time I go, he takes his time to ask alot of questions. I answer them honestly even though at times, I admit, that I'm afraid my answers will lead to him not giving me a fill. Just be very honest with your answers and from the way you explain your hunger (even though you are doing great with your weight loss), I am sure that he will give you one. Good luck and keep up the great work! -
Just What I Needed!
Melissa76tx replied to Amanda61082's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats!!!!! That is wonderful -
You are probably feeling gas pains from the anesthesia used during surgery. It can remain in your body for awhile and move from the shoulder, back, chest. I was banded 13 months ago and remember that feeling very well! Just breathe when you feel it and remind yourself that it will pass. Good luck with your journey!!!

Does Stress Cause The Band To Tighten
Melissa76tx replied to carolde's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've never really stopped to think about stress affecting my band, but now that I think back it probably does have alot to do with how it feels. I was banded 13 months ago also and experience times where I can't eat hardly anything to times where it almost feels like I have no restriction. I think it is the body's reaction to the stress. Don't worry, just take things one day at a time! -
Why Didn't I Do This A Year Ago???
Melissa76tx posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm so glad to have found this site. I was banded January 11, 2011 and have had quite a journey the past year of my life. My pre op weight was 292 and as of today 2/6/12, I'm at 235. My goal is 180. I have been "stuck" the past few months..losing a pound or two to regain it back. I had some fluid taken out of my band recently because of severe heartburn and hoping that my band was just too tight. It is great to read and see everyone else's progress and hoping that this gives me the inspiration that I need to get to my goal. I've come so far the past year but still the old me in my mind...such a hard image for me to change. -

Why Didn't I Do This A Year Ago???
Melissa76tx replied to Melissa76tx's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you!! That is a good idea...maybe I need to take a harder look at my intakes on fresh fruits..it is so easy to forget how much sugar I'm consuming because in my head "since it's fruit, it's healthy and ok" -
Hey...I'm not too far from you..just a few hours east...I would love to have someone to talk to about the daily ups and downs with my life after my band!
