I am the newest surgeon at Cincinnati Weight Loss Center. I was banded 2-16-2006. Ihave lost 80lbs and gone from 44 waisted pants to 32, also from XXL shirts to medium shirts. I have never felt better and am here to help.:biggrin1:
-
I want to help with pre-op, intra-op or post-op questions. Your own surgeons will give your "official" answers but I am only to happy to help. Lets get started.:biggrin1:

Correct 2 rooms and more than a half hour...letters will be coming
-
Annie what about at the Mandalay center where our seminars are. We are thinking 6;30 as the seminars are at 7 and our banded nurse is going to be there for the end of the seminar. This would be a Monday. Hoping to start this quite soon.
-
Letha could you have a slip and need your band surgically readjusted. I have never heard of this problem, there are people with their band for 9 plus years and it is still functioning fine.
-
Leatha hve you had a Ba swallow to confirm your band position and pouch sizee, that band should be working for you and not you for the band. Your esophagus is not the responder hormones released from your stomach should produces fullness and satisfaction for hours.

MissBannster I like protein bars...you can eat part of one and they travel easy. Also, whatever your protein from dinner the nite bwefore may work as well. I do not like the idea of protein shakes, I tink liquid calories can lead to trouble

Annie M do you have an idea of a date(2nd Mon is in west chester) and a location? The greenville suport group is at the psychologists' church..let me know
-
Are you sure it is above the band (on the pouch) and not just below the band? let me know...thanks
-
Indeed Dori....best of luck!...John

i agree most are not done in hospitals, the NWWLS is a well oiled machine
-
Inamed is the only band used in the US, I think you will have a hard time finding a US surgeon to help you take care of another type of band as no one in this country as any experience with the Swedish band...yet
-
probably that is normal, there is just some swelling at the site where your band was placed. You should see this subside as your edema resolves. Keep us posted and good luck!
-
I agree, and I think (as a surgeonwith a band and who puts bands in) that the percentage of people who slip with an appropriately adjusted band and who do not vomit is incredibly rare, and even more rare are stitches "coming undone" years after being placed. I do strongly agree with the results are worth the risk!
-
a slip will only occur from repeated vomiting for weeks or months, all bands are stitched into position. Horribly unlikely you have a slip this close to your surgery date. We all have cheated (some), don't sweat it. I bet your band is just fine.

we gotta get losing better, We are doing a support group in Greenville (which may be too far north for you). Our Dayton seminars are quite full so we should consider starting one in the Dayton area, as there does appear to be a need, let's keep pushing and see if we can't make this happen.

I had my band done at Northwest weight loss surgery in Seattle, It is a wonderful place and their aftercare is the best in the US. They have several satellite offices throughout WA and other states. Call them 425-385-2263

it sounds like pregnanacy and not your band. Band erosions typically present with port infections, redness and pain, not what you are describing. Make sure you stay hydrated.
-
elisabeth you are indeed welcome Carol you are right from now until your first fill it is all you...the band has to heal in perfect position and all the sweeling from your opoeration must go away...thus the 4-6 weeks, hang in there once you are appropriately adjusted you never have to diet again!!!!
-
the difference is in the actual size of the band and how much fluid each holds. Which size you need is determined by your surgeon at the time of operation. The VG is larger and holds up to 10ml of saline, a regular 10 band holds only a max of 4 ml good luck in April
-
that why you left greenville?
-
gigi i have had no real problems after 3 adjustments, watching my banded wife eat for 14 months prior to getting my band sure helped my diet. It is a process, and you wil be thrilled with it
-
thank you very much susannah annieM hang in there that slow progress is about to take off your attitude seems great....the next time you are at the office say hello

Sounds as if you have stop being subjective forget about why this site exists and gotten personal, you need to re evaluate why you come to this site. Some of us with the band are here to help and be helped, however your last post is not capable of either one.
