  1. I was gonna post this in response to the original thread but I thought it deserved it's own thread. It's seems that aside from the injuries people are sustaining due to the new nintendo Wii, http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com Some people are loosing weight with the new Wii. http://wiinintendo.net/2007/01/15/wii-sports-experiment-results/

    For Just Us Guys

Hey Ted, I think you'll find that 1 real egg is really filling. I had 1 scrambled egg with a slice of cheese this past saturday at 8am and it kept me filled well past lunch! I couldn't belive it.

Think I am leaving this board

I was a member of a motorcycle saftey forum. I found that the views and rulling expressed on that board by the moderator and supporting participants were ignorant and rude. I did not approve of the way the moderator handled situations. Instead of pointing fingers and making statements, I just quietly sent the request to delete my account and moved on with my life. Again I ask, what is the point of this post? Folks, It's the internet. If you don't like it, turn it off.

    Any regrets?

No regrets here. I'm week 3 post op. Did the two week liquid diet prior to surgery, and then two weeks after. I'm not gonna say it was easy because it wasn't. But I have not regretted this decision at any point. Not once. Sure I long for the food my wife is eating but I knew why I couldn't. I am proud of myself for finally taking control of a situation that has controlled me for so long. You know what? We went out to Breakfast yesterday. I ate two scrambled eggs with a slice of deli cheese. It took me 45 minutes to get it down and it kept me full from 8am till 4pm. I had a great time talking to my wife, watching the snow from the diner car, and taking the time to really enjoy my food. WOW,That was FREAKING COOL. Pre band, I would have been hungry again before leaving the resturant and probably couldn't remember what I had inhaled for breakfast. **edit*** Forgot to add that I'm down 32.5 lbs. Next goal? 50lbs of loss. Also, you must absolutely remember, the band is not a magic bullet cure all. It's a tool, a hunk of plastic strategically placed in your body. The only miracle at work here is the one on top of your shoulders. If you choose to not work the tool, the tool will do very little for you. This means, search your soul, find out the reasons you eat. Be aware and ready to rebel against those reasons. Get out your athletic shoes. You must must must excercise. You must make healthy choices for food. If you slip up occasionally, the band will help you along. But if you slip up and give up, the band will slip up "literally" and give up right along with you. Work the plan. Use the Tool. Your the miracle. Not the band.
  5. Is there anyway you can tell if you have band slippage when you 11 days post op? Will they be able to tell on your first follow up visit? Am feeling neurotic about the bad for some reason. Feel like I've already screwed it up somehow ya know? :help:
  6. Was fooling around on ebay tonight, missed out on a great deal for a part for my car. But since I have lap band on the brain I searched lap band on ebay. Thankfully, nothing was returned in the search. But just for my own morbid comedy I thought I'd post it to the group. What could you hypothetically find on ebay pertaining to the lap band??? 1. A Invasive Acme home lap band kit. Contents: A scalpel, rubber gloves, mirror, a pack of rubber bands, two tylenol. 2. A Non-Invasive Acme home lap band kit. Contents: Bicycle Pump, Truck Tire Tube, Talcum powder. Yes, I'm starting to feel better from the surgery. :heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh::heh:

    Why am I SOOOO COLD??

Cold here too. My wife is pregnant with twins so the ceiling fan blanket situation in our bedroom has become a bit of a issue.

Banded on Thursday and cried yesterday

I mourned for a few days that I would never be able to gorge myself and feel "happy" again and damn I want this piece of plastic out. But I am trusting in the idea that I will find other things to make me happy. I cleaned up my garage this weekend. Made a pantry out there so that when the twins arrive we'll have a place for large bundles of pampers. Time heals most wounds. Emotional and Physical. Plus, I know, when I get to eat steak again, it won't be chop steak on a roll with cheese, but a savory filet mignon with green Beans on the side. (Yeah, I'm hungry right now) Anyway, what had me upset the most was that my alcoholic parents didn't call and still haven't called to find out how I'm doing. 10 days post op. Not a word. Screw'em. They were a major contributing factor to my weight issues. Now I got babies on the way. Due in July. I'm already working to be a better parent.
  9. I had a revelation last night. I am 9 days pre op and I had kept reading prior to my surgery that the band is a tool. It's not a magic cure all. Now I understand what that means. I've lost 26 lbs since I started the pre surgery liquid diet. And for a few days after the surgery I was doing great. Now the swelling has gone down and I can eat pretty well. The scale hasn't budged in two days. What does it mean? It means nothing in the big picture, I shouldn't be weighing daily anyway, but it reminded me of something. After alot of reading here I think I had started falling into the lap band trap. "Boy, it will be great when I get a couple of fills and the band starts doing it's thing and I start loosing weight." Hold on, I don't have to wait around for fills for this thing to start working. I can go dust off the elliptical machine today and do a light work out and start working the tool. The tool is me. The aid is the band. Ah yes, I knew I wasn't going to be able to hide from this thing called weight loss. We still have our parts play. We still have to buck up and face this monster. :angry :angry :angry BRING IT ON!:angry :angry :angry
  10. I'm 9 days post op. I think I'm entering what everyone calls bandster hell? I feel fine. Feel like I could eat whatever I want but just a reduced amount. Hungry all the time. Not losing any weight right now. Had lost 26lbs. I'm gettin kinda grouchy now. I don't want to feel hungry anymore. I'd almost rather got back to day 4 post op. Lots of restriction, wasn't hungry, I was loosing 2 lbs a day!

    Just banded 2/15

The feeling is normal Shelley, your stomach is swollen and you have a whole heap of restriction. Focus on the Water. Sip sip sip so you don't get dehydrated. Once the swelling subsides your gonna feel right as rain. In fact, your almost gonna wish the golfball feeling would come back. I'm 9 days post op and I feel like I could eat a whopper jr right now no problem. Of course, I'm not going to. I'm begrudgingly eating cream of broccoli instead. Relief is on the way!

    Does The Stomache Shrink??

Also, my doctor said that filling a band to quickly leads to erosion.
  13. I was provided my ins with a years worth of receipts from weight watchers. They accepted it and me and the bandito are happily marred together now.

    For Just Us Guys

Hey guys, just thought I'd chime in. I was banded this past friday by Dr. Singh in Baltimore. I'm back to work now (deskjob) I had a two week presurgery liquid diet, my doc's pre and post liquid diet also includes strained creamed soups which have been a life saver for me. I'm down 23 lbs as of this morning got another 142 to go. Not alot of incision pain. Still got a lingering headache though. I wish the lap band naysayers on the internet would shut the hell up. Everytime I turn around I see other website about how the lap band failed. Well, I ain't gonna let it fail because I'm not gonna fail. We have the proverbial string around our fingers err...stomachs to remind us and keep us going. GONNA BEAT IT THIS TIME. :angry
  20. Hello, I am five days post op and I have this headache that I can't get rid of from surgery. Also, I have this stuck in my esophagus feeling whenever I drink something. It's painfull and it radiates to my back and chest. Should I be concerned? I've only been taking advil to help alleviate my headaches for pain meds. Could the advil pills be causing this?

    5 Days Post Op

Thanks for all the responses everyone. Nobody ever said no advil to me. I've switched to tylenol for now, I didn't think to get the liquid, I'm just using a pill crusher and adding it to my protein drink. I drink all day long, I've consume about 40 fl oz through the course of a day. Make sure i have drink near by at all times. I'll just hang tuff and see how I do.

    Pre op Smokers

Hey gyfts, I just read your statement about your primary care doc. Hey.. F@$% that guy/gal. Time to shop for a new doctor. My doc is real loser too. Tried to pull the same crap on me. He/She doesn't need your buisness. Screw em.

    Pre op Smokers

Yeah it is expensive. In my case I found that my money was sticking around alot longer not just because I wasn't buying smokes, but because I wasn't hitting up the atm as much for cash for smokes. I could never figure out what happened to the change from a twenty when I bought a pack. Balancing my checkbook was easier to. Practice the mantra.. Relief is comming. Relief is comming.

    Pre op Smokers

The best thing that helped my wife and I quit for fertility was www.whyquit.org Read through all the articles. We quit cold turkey. It was hard. Very hard. We did it one at a time. I quite for 4 months then she quit. The most important thing you have to keep telling yourself over and over and over again is that relief is on the way. Breath.. breath.. breath... relief is on the way. It's comming. You have to hold on. That was what got us through the throws of the cravings. We will both be happy talk further with you about it but March 10 2007 marks my 1 year smoke free. I am so relieved to not have to deal with that anymore.
