February Bandsters?
his_spirit replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 13th. Doing well. Going next Monday for my first adjustment. Totally looking forward to it. I eat 3 meals a day about a cup each and have a couple of small snacks in between. Was told to do that since I was getting hungry after a couple of hours. The one cup is filling and I couldn't eat more just wears off too fast is about how I could describe it. Need to work on going to the gym more for sure. It is great to see that so many are doing so well. -
I actually had an electric blanket that i lay across the bed and slept on top of it so the heat was constant. lol

i was banded the 13th of February and the shoulder pain was killer. Lasted about 4 days. Did the whole gas X and walking thing but what helped me the most was the heating pad. After about 6 days felt almost 100% back to normal. It gets much much better. Congrats to you all on the start of your new life.

3 Weeks Post Op And Starting To Gain Weight
his_spirit replied to Mrs. Curtis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am just over 3 weeks and my weight stays the same or goes down about 0.1 at a time. Not eating more than about 800 calories a day either. It feels like I am eating too much although I intellectually know that is not the case. Getting quite hungry and eating regular food, no more than a cup at a time. They told me that after two weeks on regular that I can talk about getting the fill. Counting down the days. Sometimes I worry that they will say no because I have lost weight the 1-2 lbs a week they say is normal but that is by white knuckling it at times and its pretty tough. -
Inpatient Or Outpatient?
his_spirit replied to ElizabethAnne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was to be there at 1pm, had the surgery at 2. Was in recovery by 4pm (took longer than they thought) and discharged by 6pm. I had arranged for my children to have sleepovers that night and had my mother stay over. I felt well enough to go home but wouldn't have minded staying the night, just to feel more relaxed and not worried that I might have some complication however that wasn't really an option. -
Mine has been very very very attentive. lol. Not that he wasn't before but extra since the surgery and it has only been a few weeks. I think that it is more my attitude. Very positive and happy these days. He sees me going out and doing things much more when I was more of a homebody prior. Sometimes he asks me if people are making comments yet and often says that I will have to get used to a lot of attention from other guys. Not that he feels threatened or anything because he knows I am not interested. He has never ever had an issue with my weight and for him it is about my health but it is funny how I see him reacting. I have also been all over him a lot more too. Guess that goes along with just feeling better about myself and making positive changes. So how I am dealing with it is just giving him lots of attention and showing him how much I appreciate him.

Congratulations!!! Great you are feeling pretty good and everything went well. Welcome to the banded side and your new incredible journey. I have just started a couple of weeks ago myself. -
Nurse and had 2 weeks off. Very little time spent sitting. Seemed about the perfect amount of time for me. Just been back for 2 days and feel fine.
-
That sounds really good! I am on the lookout for healthy breakfasts that are easy.

Great to meet you! 100 lbs is amazing. Congratulations. Lisa

I had my surgery 2 weeks ago with Dr. Woo in Vancouver. All my experiences have been great with SWLC. They are always attentive and very quick to respond to any questions or concerns.

i actually got the idea off of here in one of the groups. Low fat refried beans, low fat shredded cheese heated up, then fat free sour cream small amount and taco sauce. Tastes like a burrito without the carbs.

Mine said the 15:30 thing too. It would seem impossible to get enough fluids waiting 2 hours.
-
I have heard that same question from people. They say I am not heavy enough so why not do this or that. My response is always the same. "I am an adult and don't need justify or defend how I live my life to others". Think I stopped doing that over 20 years ago when I moved out of my parents home. LOL.

Agree 100%. Life is about sacrifice and compromise. My doctor said that too about the 50% and I've never actually been able to intellectualize that. It makes no sense to me that if I change my lifestyle by eating right and exercise how it would stop at just the 50%. I expect it to be work, hard work but well worth it.

Sore On The Left Side
his_spirit replied to Kim Whiteman-Enos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have shortness of breath but it feel like I couldn't take a deep breath. Like my diaphragm wouldn't expand that much or something. don't know how else to explain it. As for the soups, i just bought regular creamed soups like cream of mushroom, potato etc. then used a small strainer to take out the chunks. Some people also will puree in that part. -

February Bandsters?

I was not able to get the protein in while on liquids. There was no way I could take in all of it. Tried my best but it felt like I would explode after only one which took 4 hours to drink. So my max protein for the liquid stage was only about 30g too.
