breast size b4 and after weight loss surgery
his_spirit replied to DoingIt4Me!'s topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am also 5'3. Started out as a G or so in cup size. Had back pain and problems etc. Now after a 60 lb loss am a C! Need a lift but no longer qualify for a reduction so I would wait but that's just me. Granted we have different starting and end goals as each other just thought the loss will be similar -
I had mine done with SWLC and am very happy with it. In fact, I got a call from them today to see how I was doing because they hadn't heard from me since August. They are always very quick in returning any calls that I have made and answering my questions. I was done in Vancouver but deal with them through Toronto.

I am still relearning and get that feeling often, it is difficult. I find that it does help me to not let myself get overly hungry.

i loved refried beans with with taco sauce in the mushy stage, added low fat shredded cheese and fat free sour cream was so good lol

I am on week 3 of the C25K. I found week one the most difficult so far. I only do it 3 days per week, hot yoga/pilates 4-5 days a week. I found that it was easier by having a recovery for the cardio in between. The only tips I have are what I have heard from others doing the program. Don't worry if you have to repeat a day or a week, in the end it all works out anyways and secondly, don't go for speed so much. A slow jog is great as you can up the speed once you can run continuously. It is quite a good program. You can so do it! Every day is progress.

Ahhhhhhh It's Becoming Really Real
his_spirit replied to missymobaby's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Totally normal. I went through a lot of mixed emotions before my surgery. After was quite emotional too for a week or so. After that I have not second guessed myself. Been very happy with the decision. -

Any Nurses Here?
his_spirit replied to 2012Enoughisenough's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I took 2 weeks off and that was more than enough, although 4 days wouldn't have been enough for me. Took all i could and enjoyed the time off where i felt fine and could get myself organized for things that I didn't think of -
Personally, I do not go by any of those statistics because it is an average taking the people who did not work it mixed with the ones who did use it as it was intended. If you search and read a lot on here you will see many many success stories of people who worked the band, changed their habits and have beaten those statistics over and over. Have not seen many or any that i recall where people worked it properly and did not succeed in excess of the "average". It is only a tool after all, it is what you do with it that matters. You can do it.

has anyone gotten the lapband to loose 50 pounds
his_spirit replied to juicylicious's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a bit more to lose at nearly 200 lbs and 5'3. Lost a bit over 30 lbs now and when people ask me what I have done they always say but you weren't that heavy. It is a personal choice and one that I did not take lightly as I knew how the extra weight was effecting me in my everyday life for all my adult life. Shying away from going out with friends, always feeling tired, unhappy every time I looked in the mirror. Many of the things that I enjoy and love in life all gone because of the excess weight. In the end, I don't really care if people judge me for having surgery because it isn't their life to live. It is mentally exhausting to constantly be in a battle with weight. You have to do what is best for you. So far, I have never vomitted and eat pretty much all types of food without a problem. It does take work but the work it takes (in my experience) is far less than any other so called "diet" I have ever tried and I have tried them all it think. Diets are torture to me, every minute of the day. This does not feel like a diet at all. -
Calorie Intake
his_spirit replied to GurlieGirl0723's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I set my fitnesspal to 1000 cals a day. Rarely get to the limit. With or without exercise. Not really restricted too much yet so some days it is a struggle. -
February Bandsters?
his_spirit replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't sure if there was any in it until i went for the first one and then the doctor told me. Feeling hungry is difficult. I had a bad spell where I totally fell off the plan during the easter weekend. Stress and pms and all I thought about was food. I did find that I had some restriction with the little that was in there so I would say that it was definitely helpful for me and when I over ate and fell off the plan I didn't gain anything so I think it actually did help and I didn't really eat as much as it felt like. if that makes sense. It is a journey and I was happy with myself that I did not let the slip up get me down too much because in the past that would have made me just feel like giving up. This time I got back into the whole plan again after a couple of days. The doctor is not too far away from me about 40 mins each way. I am only guessing but I would think that going from nothing to 3 you would notice something for sure. When do you get to go? Must be very excited for it. -

I have a 10cc one too and there was 2.6cc in it already and they only added 0.4 with the first fill. This time they will add 1cc the nurse told me. Before when they added the small amount i was feeling satisfied for a couple of hours and wasn't as hungry as I am now. -

Going for my second fill on friday. First one was a very small amount and I didn't really feel anything. Next one will be more so keeping my fingers crossed that I will feel some restriction. Been really hungry and having a hard time some days. Very happy with everything though all in all. -
Any Nurses Here?
his_spirit replied to 2012Enoughisenough's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi all. I am also an RN, from Canada, banded 2/13/12. Took 2 weeks off work after the surgery. Loving it and soo happy that I did it. The first week I was pretty emotional wondering what i did to myself and questioned my decision but now feel it is the best thing that I ever could have done to take care of myself. We spend so much time looking after other people for me, at least, I often forget about me. -
Does Anyone Take Cymbalta?
his_spirit replied to brittneynicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to take cymbalta and it made me very nauseated at first and also got a lot of hot flashes. After a couple of weeks the symptoms wore off. You can try to take it with 25 mgs of gravol or something if it is just the nausea. -
The band is inside, it would do nothing to it at all.
-
Me too! I wondered about the same thing. If I should cover up the incisions with a bandaid or something.

Congrats anncm, I had my surgery there too February 13th of this year. Was at Cambie yesterday for my first fill. Nice to meet you.

I haven' t lost a lot so far but have dropped a couple of sizes in clothing. I don't know about others but i have a huge range of sizes in my closet from yo yo dieting over the years. Never could get rid of the smaller sizes as I was keeping them for "one day". Many I have not been able to fit into for years. The other day I was cleaning out my closet and looked at a dress and thought I would try it on for fun never thinking it would fit and not only did it but it was loose. I have been this way my whole life too, even when i was young and relatively thin I thought that I was way bigger than I actually was.

Sorry I took so long to respond to the snack question. For snacks I usually eat things like half a banana, 1/4 cup of hummus with a few whole grain crackers, reduced fat mozzarella stick, small amount of yogurt with blueberries, cottage cheese, etc. I try to keep all my meals around 250 calories and snacks about 100. Going for my first fill this afternoon so hoping my appetite will be lessened.
