    No Food Is Bothering Me...?!?!

I am on purred foods still, and had no problems. In recovery I dad 3 shots of water and a Popsicle - the nurses said if I did that right away I should be fine! I afraid I will need to diet until my fills kick in!

    Banded On March 20Th 2012

My nurse said cream soups are ok, I was banded on the 20th. I am hungry, but 1/4 -1/2 cup of soup holds me for hours. I She said yogurt was ok too. I just can't seem to face another shake! I did make a small box of pudding with 2 scoops protein. I have been mixing 2 tbsp of that with skim milk for a glass of chocolate milk. That seems to help break it up a bit. They said I should be at 75 - 80 gr protein a day, and I am no where near that.

    Chobani Yogurt

Plain yogurt is yucky! I sometimes mix in a tablespoon of preserves. I also mix dry onion dip in and eat it with veggies or a potato.

Non Measurable Results From Lap Band

Thanks for this thread, and I love everyone's answers. - I want to go horseback riding again - I want to go to the movies and not take up both armrests - I want to walk into a room and not have to navigate to the chairs without arms bcuz my butt won't fit - I want to believe my husband when he says I am beautiful, now I roll my eyes and think 'poor sap'
  8. Yes, itches are good as long as the incisions are not red and irritated. The weight gain is normal, as folks said - my nurse told me not to freak out. Hope the gas is moving, and your water starts to go down!

    Just Out If Surgery!

Msec you are after my heart. I would love to wander a Cabela's under the guise of recovery. I will have to settle for a Costco trip tomorrow, early before the crowd. Hang in there everyone, so glad to read good reports.
  10. Yup, hungry. The soup saved me today!! Saw the nurse for follow-up she said everything looks great. I made pudding with protein powder then froze some for a chocolate shake, but the soup was way better!

    Prayers Needed, Please.

Prayers and strength. Losing my mom was so hard, but I know she would support me to be successful on this journey. I bet your mom would want success for you too. Blessings dear, allow your self time to grieve.

    Spicy Food?

I swear I could drink Frank's hot sauce, yum. I actually put a dash in some cream of chicken soup today!!
  14. I was so nervous about getting to the surgery center promptly at 6:00 am, I had a heck of a time falling asleep. So, when my alarm rang at 5:00 am I immediatle turned it off. Yes, right back to sleep. So, at 6:05 am I woke up. Darn it!!! I jumped in the shower, my hubby called day surgery and I made it there by 6:20. Can you stand it??? Everything else went fine but this was not how I wanted the day to start!
  15. my brother was banded 8 years ago. He has done great with the band, and been very supportive of my journey. Before my surgery, he called and said a package was coming with something I would need. Assuming the best, I thought how sweet a copy of Jean MacMillan's book or something. Today the mail came, and I now have my very own model lap band, stomach and port! Turns out he has become quite good friends with a WLS on the east coast. Gosh how I laughed!!! I suppose it's good I bought my own copy of Jean's book.

    Day Of Surgery

My nurse said today was the first I could have a protein shake. I see her tomorrow and am hopeful she'll say I can have soup. I am getting about 50 oz fluids a day. My husband is a great support though he's kind of like the Florence nightingale of a concentration camp! He has my post op directions memorized and is watching me like a hawk. Stay on the straight and narrow, march 20 was a wonderful day for surgery!!
  17. Brandi, I have been thinking about you and really hope you are doing better. I am still getting better each day, but know like clockwork when it is time for pain meds. I am out to 4 - 4 1/2 hrs on pain meds. Walking as much as I can and going up and down the stairs a few times a day. Hang in there. And hopefully you are experiencing less discomfort.

No Support Group That Is Close To Me

Does your physician's office offer a group? OA may help, I think the 12 steps can help with anything so they should help your eating and exercising plan. Good luck!

    Need Greek Yogurt Suggestions

I put some sugar free jam in the plain yogurt. Costco plain is good but need something added. In the small containers I like Dannon's Oikos which is already mixed so no chunks!

    Calling All Swimmers!

Tracey - go swim! There is nothing better than engaging in an activity you like and excel at!! I love water, I love swimming, and I have had no weird looks from the other lap swimmers about my size. Lap swimmers are an elite club, and they welcome anyone who can stick with it! Good luck.
