    Down Time

I have a desk job, I took off four days after surgery then worked part days (4-6 hrs/dy) for a week. Not sure what you do, so take all of our input and maybe average it out?? GOOD LUCK!
  2. Funny I was just thinking about this yesterday. I set my goal weight at a BMI of 30. Not because I think I need to stop there, but because I didn't want to disappoint myself. I have always been heavy (well, for 10 minutes in my 20's I got down to 160#). Like Humminbird said, my skelaton will be a size 12 or 14 - so, I don't think going below 175 is a good idea for me. WHen i look at pictures from when i go to 160, i look emaciated. The lowest I would want is 175, the highest 200. Maybe I can just hang around that range. As of today, that's a ways off. Right now I just want to get out of bandster hell and start working out like a maniac.

    The Bill Arrived...

I got my EOB, my costs are only $2800 of the total $24000 bill! Phew seems like a drop in the bucket to save my life!

    The Bill Arrived...

Sunshyne068 just the lapband. I was shocked that I owed so little!
  5. Miralax is not as obnoxious as milk of mag! Also senekot tabs or colace will help.

    Hummus

I got corntortilla flatbread at Trader Joe's, not as many carbs as crackers. I also love it with peeled cucumber slices. I have to drive 200 miles to the closest Trader Joe's :-(!
  7. I finally got some carnation instant breakfast. That with skim milk tastes decent. I also blended Greek yogurt and protein powder in with sugarfree pudding mix and thinned it down. Once you get to mushies Greek yogurt and cottage cheese help get protein up higher. I am six weeks out and had my first fill today. So I am back to liquids for a few days! I feel your pain!

    Eggplant

It is terrific! Check out recipes for baba ganoush. It is the consistency of a dip. It is Mediterranean.

    You Must Eat To Lose!!!

Same for me! Sunshyne068, I struggle to get my calories and protein in. Many evenings I make an extra protein shake with a 1/4 cup of frozen yogurt to finish out my day. I have greek yogurt for breakfast, lunch is either 4 oz. last night's left over pretein (chicken, fish) + 1/4 c veggies. I have a morning snack either string cheese or 8 oz carnation instant breakfast (with skim milk), whichever is left I have for an afternoon snack, then dinner is 4 oz protein and 1/4 c veggies. I like ranch dressing and hot sauce, so lots if times I dip my meat protein in ranch. (that isa boost to calories too). It works for me, good luck!

    Port Pain?

I am six weeks post op and my port area has bothered me ever since surgery. Not pain, per se, more discomfort. If I slouch while sitting it is very sore. I find that I am leaning back while driving and while typing to keep the discomfort down. I almost want to get my lowest rib removed on that side to make more room for the port.

Food For Thought... Pardon The Pun!!

Hang in there. You should pick up Jean McMillan's book Bandwagon. It will help answer some questions and (hopefully) motivation. I have mine with me at all times!!

    5Th Week Post Op

I am down about 35 since my preop but 45 since the first of the year. I weigh on Tuesdays (why Tuesdays? I have NO idea!) I have alot ot lose so, it goes pretty quick. I have noticed it slowed alot since I started mushies amd soft food. Before that my average calories were about 650 - 750 a day.

    5Th Week Post Op

I was banded 3/20, I track all my food on myfitnesspal.com, and get between 750 and 900 cal a day. That is because I am working so hard to get my protein.

    Frustrated!

I don't know about you guys but any weight loss is better than my last 10 years of upward weight! I lost a lot the weeks after surgery but it has really slowed as I started mushies and soft foods. Keep your chin up, remember the end goal and don't beat yourself up. :-0

    Question About My Teeth

I don't know what causes it but the whole time I was on liquids only I felt like my teeth had wool sweaters on! I started soft foods this week and no more sweaters. Try gargling with Listerine it seemed to help me.
  24. Sasha & grandma13 I am 6 weeks out from surgery and I had no problems with fluids starting in post op. I slugged 3 one oz med cups of Water like I was in a bar and the nurses freaked! I got home at 2:00 that day and got 50 oz of water in before bed! Like 1shauna1 said, unless it is glasses of fat the water is good!!! Keep up the good work!

    Started Pre-Op Diet

As long as you have a healthy scoop of protein powder in the shakes, they are quite filling!
