Got Banded On Tues! I Am A Bandster!
Pollyanna12 replied to Lilbelly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yahoo! Good for you! Hopefully you won't experience any discomfort and will continue having good experiences with food & drink. Overall, I think the hardest part for me was being hungry after I started the mushie foods. Good luck, we will be looking for further updates... -
I am only 7 weeks post op and have only had 1 fill. My doc advised me to avoid carbs for The first six months, and eat 4 oz Protein and 1/4 cup veg per meal. I have not had fruit and really miss it! Have other folks gotten similar insructios from their doc but also eat fruit?
-
Thank Kate, my stats for last week are like yours (and I am only 2 months out). I have my second fill next week, and am frustrated with how hungry I am. I was so disciplined with my pre & post surgery diet and not freaking out about hunger but I just couldn't get a handle on it this last week! This site is such a lifesaver!

Good for you Cazzy. So excited for you! Heal quickly and welcome to the new you!

Aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh I am so hungry! Next fill in one week. thanks folks. I really needed to get that off my chest.

Hang in their angieband, I think I will be just like you! I have had only 1 fill and called the other day to move up my next one. I am clearly in bandaged hell because I feel like I could eat a side of beef!!!

Sleep Study/cpap Machine For Surgery?
Pollyanna12 replied to lappyloo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had a clap for years, my doc made me bring it for recovery. -

Hang in there! Tour story mirrors most of my relationship with my mom. It didn't make me love her less but man. It made steam pour out of my ears for most of my life! I chalked it up to her being entitled to her opinions and I didn't have to try to engage in disagreeing with her. It took a ton of patience and lots of trips to DQ. Glad I have found better coping skills.

Will My Doctor Refer Me For Lap-Band?
Pollyanna12 replied to efizzle34's topic in Insurance & Financing
Stephy is right! I would switch to s doc who is supportive and understands the lapband process! This sure is not "the easy way out"!!! Good luck. The first thing that changed with some of my weight loss was decrease in the constant sweating and gasping for air. -
I Get My First Fill Tomorrow And I'm Scared!!
Pollyanna12 replied to SashaWLS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey ladies. It will be fine! I had my first fill and it didn't hurt much more than a shot. I have had oboe 3 PBs since (2 weeks or so out) unalloyed cases because I let myself get too hungry and ate too fast. It's not like violent committing, it's more like spitting up. best wishes! Good luck. -
I do believe in a minimum caloric intake. And I don't think the exercise/calories formula is that simple. The 500 you take in and then burn off doesn't take into account the extra minerals. Vitamins, finer etc. From the food you eat.

Thanks Miss Meow. I am almost 3 months out and the port area is still sensative. Sometimes I have to arch my back to get any relief!

AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! I get into this every time I eat with my hubby. He doesn't seem to bake/cook much. Liquids are measured in measuring cups, solids on a scale. I talked to my doc about this and he just laughed. He said meat protein should be weighed, while my veggies can go into a 1/4 cup. Fluids and soft foods (tuna, pudding etc.) go into measuring cups.

I have had decent success at restaurants until last week. I asked for a half order of a chicken salad and the waiter said he could charge 15% less than the full order. I gave him such a hard time he gave me a side salad with 1/2 chicken breasted on top! Good advice not to try to something new in public!

How to Eat Like a Bandster
Pollyanna12 replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Jean your book, articles and your posts have been a life saver for me on this journey! -
I think you are right on with needing more protein. I know it's tough before you can eat - but I put protein powder in pudding and yogurt etc. Which I thinned with milk. Anyway you can get it'!

I take chewable multivitamins and calcium. Isaac drinking fruit based smoothie protein shakes before surgery. I do not se a dietician anymore but I can email the nurse and ask her.

Pollyanna12 replied to PattyGirl66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I make proteinshakes with diet cranberry juice and frozen fruits. -
I had to take the apin meds right on schedule for the first 3-4 days, then things began to subside. It took about a week for me to be able to sleep on my stomach again, aaahahhhhhhhh that was a relief! I have never been able to sleep on my back. hang in there, it will get better

There is a five day pouch diet (someone who knows the real link please correct). It kind of feasts your mindset and clears some sugars/ cravings out of your system. Don't give up' all you can do is start your next meal fresh. If you eat too much at lunch, don't beat yourself up and don't use it as aneccuse to blow it at dinner too. Just go into dinner with a fresh attitude and make good choices. good luck! There is a ton of support on this site!
