Is This Caused From Eating To Fast?
Pollyanna12 replied to Kalala1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get this for a variety of reasons. Sometimes from too large of a bite, or from not chewing enough, or from eating too fast...I just consider it a gentle reminder to take my time, chew chew chew and cut my food into smaller bites. -

I am water girl too. Laps walking anything in water keeps myback paindown! I recommend the onestopplus.com website for larger sized suits at decent (clearance) prices! CCornell you will be able to do lots that won't aggravate your foot pain!

GREAT!! Keep up the good work.

I am 5 months out. Breads do not work, at all!! Neither do hamburger parties. Even if rare. Any vinagrette dressing on salad or as a marinade will not stay down. I have not tried rice or potatoes. All veggies are fine. chicken cannot be overdone. But ground beef for taco meat works. I can only do 1/2 a 10" flour tortilla as a quesedilla or a wrap.

I love oikos individuals for breakfast on work days, the plain costco brand with some fruit preserves is my nightime snack. I need to cut down on it! But, I use it to get my last protein grams in for the day. I picked up some Greek Gods plain last week and OMG it is like whipped cream or ice cream ~ holy zeus!!! wow, that could really be my new weakness but I am too cheap to buy it often

I love fruit, and am so excited it is summer. Last visit to the doc (I am less that 6 months out from surgery) ~ the nurse told me to avoid the sugar carbs from fruit . It broke my heart. I do eat my proteins first and only had fruit as a mid-afternoon snack, but I guess my doc is more focussed on lower carbs...

Hip Hip HOORRRRRRAAAYYYYY! Good for you!

Funny start, it does sound like a bad joke. I had lunch with a friend who had GB surgery 10 years ago. We were discussing how to identify when you are getting full / shen to stop eating. We pretty much agreed that at the point you think "should I take another bite" ~ you are full. For what it's worth...

Two Bariatric Patients Walk Into A Restaurant
Pollyanna12 replied to Pollyanna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually Alicesandra - we ordered and appetizer quesedilla and a sandwich between us. I had 3 more meals with the quesedilla and she had one more lunch out of the sandwich! the meals last alot longer! If not that plan, some restaurants give a bariatric discout or bariatric sized meal. I have a card from my doc to get the discount. -
I Am A Bit Over Zealous In The Burping Department.....
Pollyanna12 replied to thetxdiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I burl almost every time I eat! I feel like I should have a sign that says "excuse me" so idon't have to keep saying it! -
I have serious back problems and have had a few back surgeries. My back pain has increased since surgery. I blame it on being much more active and weight shifting around. and it seems to be more tolerable (?). Don't get me wrong. It is serious pain but I am motivated to lose more weight to make it better.

Scared I'm Eating To Much!
Pollyanna12 replied to Desiree123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slowing down my eating has really been a challenge. Thankfully after my last fill my esophogus doesn't seem to let me eat quickly. I also find that if I eat slowly I get that 'full' feeling sooner and not after I am already too full. I try to make my 4 oz protein and 1/4 c veggies last for 15-25 minutes. Some meals are easier than others to be slow with. Moving from mushies to regular foods may make a difference for you too... -
Amazing. Sorry for your friend and the survivors, glad you took the steps to change your life.

Question Question Question :)
Pollyanna12 replied to Anali11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The nurse I worked with through my insurance said it was for a few reasons. 1) was to see if I actually could make some progress and "stick to some rules"; 2) was to ensure I was serious and wasn't doing this as a quick fix; 3) was for some initial weight loss; and, 4) was to help me learn about better nutrition because I also had to attend dietician sponsored trainings. I don't think you would be denied if you lost weight unless you are super close to the BMI cut off. I was in no danger of that though! GOOD LUCK! -
Yesterday morning, I pulled into a parking garage and purposely drove to an upper level so i would have to climb stairs to get to my car! That has NEVER happened before. I was always one to find the shortest & flattest route!

   LOVE my FITBIT and LOVE MYFITNESSPAL! I am not a fan of increasing calories to "make up" for calories exercised off. However, I do find that I am sometimes a touch hungrier if I do high cardio work. I just add more protein (greek yogurt) as a snack instead of something less filling.
-
THe above posts are the explanation. I too did not feel the slightest restriction until my thord fill. Prior to that I was actively limiting my intake. The brain is a funny thing. So is a lifetime of eating for all sorts of reasons unrelated to hunger. Good luck on your journey. THere are many many people on this site who will be there to encourage you!

5 Months Post-Op (Just Wondering How Everyone Is Doing?)
Pollyanna12 replied to TamaraKaye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tamara, I am about 4 months out. I have 4.5 cc in a 14cc band. My doc didn't want to add any fill last week, I had lost 8 lbs in 3 weeks. But, I was just coming off a 1 month plateau. I will see what he says in two more weeks. I feel great, I excercise almost everyday and eat what I want. I even had some cake this weekend. Of course, the piece was about 1/8 of what i used to consider a piece of cake!! Keep up the good work, -

Opinions And Your Experience Please
Pollyanna12 replied to Diva Down's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have my stats in my signature too. I harangue spot yesterday and had lost 8# in 3 weeks so they asked me to wait another 3 weeks to see if I need a fill. I ambeing hyperbigilant about foods. How long it takes to eat. Calories. Carbs and exercise. I feel some restriction but I also make 4 oz proteinand 1/4 c veggies last for 15-20 minutes. So I have 50% physical and 50% mental restriction!
