    Martial Arts & Lapband?

Does anyone have any new advice or experience with Martial Arts training with a LapBand? My wife is suggesting that we get into Martial Arts as a family exercise option. (Once I’m all healed up.) She was a Black Belt in Taekwondo back in high school & I did some Ninjutsu training in HS as well. I’m concerned about the possibility of damaging the port from a well placed powerful punch/kick/elbow/knee crushing/cracking the plastic or tearing the sewn in port stitches. Thanks, Matt
  3. Heya everyone, Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it normal to have food take a long time to make its way down my Esophagus to the stomach at this point after my surgery? (Since I haven’t had my 1st fill yet. They thought that I shouldn’t have that problem.) My food either takes quite a long time to move down or it seems to get stuck before it even gets to where my LapBand is located. I have been using the Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement 8oz drinks for my Breakfast & lunch. Then I might eat a small dinner. Thanks, Matt

MomOf3inOC, That sounds like a good idea. I enjoy a good Tuna Fish sandwich. I'll give that a try. Num! Matt

    Food Sticking In Esophagus?

Has anyone had any trouble with straight Tuna Fish getting stuck? My wife warned me that she has troubles unless she mixes alot of Mayo into it. I had a can of Tuna straight. (Yum!!) But it did tend to get stuck even though I took small bites & chewed it like crazy. Anyone else have problems with Tuna? Matt

    Food Sticking In Esophagus?

Hmmm. Interesting. I wouldn't say it's painful. It's a bit uncomfortable. I think it's what you all described that it's the learning experience. It's one thing to read about it but to experience it is a different thing. It does seem to be getting better. I agree. I just have to get used to smaller bites & lots of chewing. I beleive i'm watching what i'm doing at first and then I slowly go back into my old mode of eating. I just have to keep working at it. Thanks for the advice, Matt

    Activities After Lapband Surgery?

Heya LapBand Peeps, (Just my luck, I don’t have all of my notes here at work when I’m thinking about this.) Is there something that details the recommended amount of activity I can engage in during my recuperation after surgery? Specifically. I was hoping to mow the lawn soon and didn’t want to fry myself out damaging something that hasn't fully healed. Week 1 - Rest, Walking, Lift no more than 20lb. Week 2 – Small amounts of ??exercise?? Week 3 – Small amounts of ??exercise?? Week 4 - Week 5 - (I'm 10 days from my surgery at this point.) {June 4, 2012} Thanks in advance, Matt

    Activities After Lapband Surgery?

Hi Matt, I was banded May 21 and mowed the lawn yesterday. No problems at all. I notice that we started at the same weight and you are winning the race so far How are you feeling? Are you on mushies yet? I was really hungry on the liquid and not much better on mushies. Solids are helping but I cannot wait till my first fill on June 28. Restriction, here we come! @ Daddyof4, I'm doing ok. I'm able to get around pretty well. The first week I had to use Sprix (Ketorolac Nasal) to keep the pain down. But was able to go off of it by Friday. I'm tried out some runny mashed potatoes & mushy refried Beans. They went down fine. Although we can't seem to pinpoint what started to give me super bad "rotten egg" farts in the evening. I was killing my wife & daughters, so I had to stay in other rooms to keep them from passing out. As long as I drink all the different liquids I seem to feel full. I (so far) have only had a couple "hunger fits" when I smell regular food being made. But as long as I get some V8 juice, chicken broth or tomatoe Soup, I have been able to take care of my hunger. (Keeping my fingers crossed that things continue in the positive.) Thanks for being there everyone, Matt
  20. Heya LabBander's, Iv'e been testing out drinking CrystalLight Grape Energy powder mixed into Water to get a little morning wakey, wake buzz. (I drank one or two classes a morning this way last hot weather season & so far this season with very little problems. If I didn't get enough sleep the night before, I would maybe have more to help me work. And on occasion I might get a slight stomach ache. My guess was too much Caffeine.) Anyway, I notice that I get a moderate nautious/slick icky feeling after I drink them now. http://www.kraftbrands.com/crystallight/Pages/default.aspx#/energy/grape Could the caffeine be irritating the healing process? Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance, Matt

    Cpap & Lapband Stomach Pains?

Jim, You sound similar to what I enjoy. For some reason our (bedroom) or house seems have keep very dry and until I started using my CPAP I started getting better nights sleep in terms of not waking up with headaches or after getting up in the morning or getting nose bleeds. As soon as I got the CPAP with the humidiy option, that all stopped. Matt

    Cpap & Lapband Stomach Pains?

Heya everyone, I just re-started using my CPAP machine last night after just over a week from my LapBand surgery. (6.4.12) When I woke up this morning I had a moderate amount of stomach pain. I didn't get any gurgles or noises but I had the impression that it was trapped air/gas. Once I started moving around, taking my morning meds, vitas & drank my morning shake I (not to be crude but) passed gas a couple times and the pain subsided quite a bit. Of course I can't remember the why's & what happened. Just that it had happened. I beleive I had a similar problem a while back but it wasn't this painful. (Not enough to make me double over or stay home from work.) But enough that if it didn't go away, I would have stayed home from work. Does anyone have any experience or advice they can share with me about CPAP's & a LapBand causing problems together? Thanks in advance, Matt

    Cpap & Lapband Stomach Pains?

Yep. I recall my wife telling me a number of times, the knockout gas that causes pains around the body including the shoulder. Since I had a heck of a time relaxing enough to sleep through the night, I didn't feel like wearing it. But we use a fan to keep cool at night and mainly as a White noise sound block. And the fan messes with my sinuses enough that I get headaches. (Sucks waking up with a headache.) Congrats on your current weight loss! Matt
