I wanna know if this Body Bugg really helps! Keep us posted daily! lol I'm so bummed right now. I can't even get yogurt smoothie to go down, it just sits and then trickles and I burp like a logger in rapid succession....20 times and it HURTS. What the hell? For the first 3 days I could eat whatever. I managed a protein drink today, and a few sips of water. I just tried to eat some chips.....i'm such an idiot. I had to have my best friend, rottie/lab, put down this morning. She bit a small dog last week and caused $1500.00 of a vet bill that I said I'd pay. This morning, she was out of the yard again. I am devastated, sick, but I know I did the right thing. It still feels like a mistake. Sorry, but I felt like sharing.

LOL Suzz! EVIL EVIL EVIL!!! DO NOT EAT!! I have to try that on a bag of Werther candies I have! For some strange reason, the fill I had on the 17th decided to kick in BIG TIME yesterday and I ate some pork and it was stuck all day. I was miserable with it. I have a new respect for slime! It DEMANDS to be respected! It's its own entity! Who ya gonna call....Ghostbusters! Water was barely squeaking down yesterday, but I think it will let up some today. I'm developing theories with dh that it could be my TOM at play or the flu shot I had Saturday afternoon. Whatever it is, I am NOT going back to have this .6cc removed and then not be restricted. Ugh ugh ugh! I hope everyone else is doing better than me!

So what are you saying Danbo, that you could have done this without the band? That you're afraid of gaining the weight back? I don't get it. Well, maybe I do. As far as doing it without the band, I think going under the knife give us the "it's serious now" incentive that maybe some of us need to know it's life or death. You're not my age...by a long shot...but for me the time has come that my weight has affected my life, literally. My life has been shortenend by developing diabetes. That was something imminent in your future. You're no doubt aware. Heart disease. That's something else you put yourself at risk for by being morbidly obese. Now, your risk is nil. Your lifestyle. How has that changed? What was the impetus for chosing the path you did with surgery? As far as gaining it back, if you keep the lapband, which I assume you will, you stand little to no chance of gaining back with it in place. Even if your stopped working out, you would not be able to return to your former eating habits if you keep properly restricted. NOW you can use your band as the tool is was meant to be! Whoa!!!! I understand your feelings of insecurity, even though my experience is far different from yours. You have had almost "overnight" success with little of the struggle of those of use along the journey with you. Naturally you question that. Your experience is quite out of the ordinary. Still, you have accomplished much, and you have succeeded in what you set out to do. It may take some time for your mind to catch up, but I think..... you should just accept it, embrace it....feel accomplished....and move on. Do what you want with your life without the encumbrances and hinderances of your weight. It would be hard for me to glean from your example, and follow your path, but I celebrate your success nonetheless.

HEY!! Is someone in ONEderland? I didn't hear an official announcement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Sheila, yes I've heard of using the fluoro to visualize how fast stuff is going through your band. I'm sure that's a lot more accurate than giving you 1.00 cc and then seeing how much you puke....or not.

Dawn I live on the Olympic Peninsula. How did you like the storm yesterday? Wow, I was on my way home from a quilt retreat, and we barely got over the Hood Canal bridge, and then they closed it. I had my window open a crack, and waves were coming up over the top of cars, and I got salt water in my mouth! LOL You gotta love the wild and wooly northwest!

Suzzz....15 POUNDS!!!! Wow, that's awesome!
-

Yes, I figured it had something to do with that lol but I was curious if that was because of the band. I'm a former medical transcriptionist, so most of the terminology is still tucked away on a shelf in my brain...useless stuff most of the time unless I'm reading charts, like when is that? I wish I still had the pharmacology reference software on my puter though, that would be helpful at times. hehe
-
Why no NSAIDS Steph?
-
I love the LIVE LOVE LAUGH one. I'm curious, what do you have engraved on your medical ID bracelet? "LAPAROSCOPIC GASTRIC BANDING" or "THIS PERSON HAS A GASTRIC BAND" or ???
-
Dawn what a horrifying experience. I am glad you're okay. It's wise advice to wear a band...I need to look into that. I hope you don't have a repeat episode. On another note, I guess I didn't realize you're a Pacific Northwest girl too!
-
Jojo, I'm sorry to hear you've been so sick. Were you overfilled or is your band irritated? I hope they figure out what is going on. Jaime, welcome, nice to see you posting. I've been getting more restriction when I eat solid fibrous or tough foods, but nothing when I eat soft foods, so I'm trying to work with that. My dd's choc chip cookes got stuck with the nice cold milk on top...I was running to the bathroom. Karma I guess! LOL I wish the restriction was there to make me full faster. I can eat volumes. I'll definitely be getting that fill on the 17th, probably 1cc. Where's Stef??????? Suzz, awesome numbers! Missy congrats on the job. Wow, lots of new changes this year for you, how exciting, huh? Make it a great week!
-
Welcome Ingrid! I'm glad you posted. I wish I had your willpower...kudos to you! Today I'm feeling a little more restriction, and trying to hold myself back! I decided to have my fill more locally on the 17th, so I won't be getting it tomorrow. That's about all I have to report today! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
-
Oh my gosh, I don't even have to worry about spitting out, I can EAT! I don't know what the heck happened to my restriction, so frustrating. I scheduled my fill for Saturday but I'm so apprehensive after last month's episode of dehydration. I don't know why I'd be so tight one week, then 2 weeks of being restricted and pb'ing and now nothing. We went to Wendy's tonight and I got a hamburger and ate 3/4 of it, had a few bites of Frosty and came home and ate a peach. I could eat another peach if I wanted....no "stop-full" going on at all. Grrrrrr!

Congrats to everyone on their NSV's (clothing) and it sounds like a positive week for most. :whoo: Gosh Stef, I have never had a speck of an idea why you aren't losing a pound a day with your 600 calorie diet and hours of workouts daily. I know why *I* don't lose anything....I eat too much, eat the wrong things, snack, skip workouts, drink wine, eat too much salt, etc., etc. But even doing those things, I can maintain. I'm stumped and stupefied! Why don't you go on weight watchers and eat regular meals, count your points and see what happens? On another note...... Me thinks I need another fill. :cry I would have liked to avoid it, because of what happened last time and I'm plain tired of making the all day trek to get it, but I have almost no restriction as of this week. Some things are going on in my personal life and I'm self-medicating with food. NOT GOOD. When it rains, it pours. :rain: Anyway, I'm going to see if I can get in on Saturday. Tonight I was able to eat 2 cups of food (beef and noodles) and was still hungry (head hunger I'm sure but I'm also sure I could have eaten a piece or two of fruit to top it off. :hungry: I feel like a kid playing with these smilies! Niters all!

Welcome back Danbo! Sometimes it's good to stay away from the scale. I'm sure you're doing great!
-
Oh my gosh Stef, please don't think my OCD comment was directed towards you. I mean ME!!! It runs in my family! lol Part of making this work for me is that I make it workable. I have to fit it in with all the millions of juggling balls I'm trying to keep in the air. One of my downfalls is that I don't make time for taking care of myself because I'm too busy and focused on everyone else's lives....which they would prefer I stay out of if you kwim (teenagers!). I think you deserve a hug today...and I know I could use one too! (((((((((Stef)))))))) If anyone deserves a break on herself, it's you!

Oops, you're keeping score! I better get my butt on my eliptical trainer NOW! Good motivation....thanks!
-
I've been having some hair loss too, not great amounts, but I notice it in the sink. I had my hair cut about 1" and A-lined and textured, so it took care of that for me, but it does concern me to hear that it come along with the weightloss. Is it a Vitamin deficiency or from not enough Protein? I am worried now about getting enough protein. I binged a lot on the weekend, basically had little to no restriction (HUH???). My biggest weakness was pita chips and cream cheese or hummus...salty stuff not the sweet. Oh, and white zinfandel....a lot of it! LOL So, back to the grindstone for me. On another note, my 14 yo daughter is blabbing to all her friends about my lap band, and since I live in a small town, it's only a matter of time before everyone knows about it. I could strangle her! Okay, vent over!

Here I am. My goal is 550 minutes on my NordicTrack eliptical trainer. I'm up to aerobic level 2, hoping to be at 3 by the end of the month!
-
Ms, I'm so glad to hear your hubby is doing better. You both are doing great!
-
Frankly, I have so much going on in my life that subtle changes to diet and exercise are what I'm looking for. I refuse to get OCD about it. Eating less and exercising more is good enough for me. LOL
-
Isn't there a warning about consuming too much protein and doing so can damage an organ?
-
Ms, thanks for the Breakfast food ideas. I love steel cut oatmeal, but haven't thought about having it. I tend to stay away from the carbs because of high blood sugars, but I could have 1/2 cup of it.....without 1/2 & 1/2 and butter and brown sugar! Oh my!! Mellie, one of the first things I did after surgery was to go get an eliptical machine. I absolutely love it. No more trips to the gym and I can use it any time I want. I get a Water bottle, put on my head phones and go kick it! I am up to the aerobic 2 level now and finally feeling like I'm getting in shape. The more muscle you have, the more fat you burn. I'm not quite at the point where I'm ready to weight train, but maybe soon. Your husband sounds like a good guy if he gave you the go-ahead!
