Toni, what a treat to see your post today. I'm sorry the band hasn't worked out for you the way it is supposed to. Getting the right fill can be so tricky. At least you still have it if you want to try again. Stay positive!

Janine, I know what you mean about that "square plate" lol. I've been trying to just weight once a week. What a PITB. I'm charting my weight with my quest to lose the 40 pounds. So far so good. I think it's just making the conscious effort that is working for me. I wanna fit in those 16's sooooooo bad! Holli, I'm so sorry about your house fire. Thank gawd it wasn't worse. You're doing awesome. Missy, what a horrible scare for you. I'm so glad your daughter is going to be okay. It sounds like she got the wind knocked out of her really good. It sounds like you handled the stress, but I can't imagine how terrifying that would have been. How old is your daughter?

Ya, right....and pretty soon you're going to super fly right by me! What's a SMO schmo?

Suzzz, whadda ya mean kick your butt? You're MY inspiration! Soon, you'll be kicking mine when you're weighing less than me!!

What to take with you to Mexico
o2bthin replied to Camel_Cracker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Who's banding you? I had a great experience...almost one year ago! I heard take gas strips, ice bag, loose fitting pants, tea bags, liquid Tylenol, Protein powder, heating pad, slippers or socks with the rubbery things on bottom, lotion, cash. I packed too much and didn't use any of it. The day following surgery, I walked miles, had fruit juices and broth, shopped, soaked my feet in the pool and slept very well. I was able to buy some great pain reliever (same one they gave me at the clinic) at a Pharmacia in town. The only hiccup was getting the juices I bought down there on the plane home, but they let me. Good luck! -
Jaime, I've been going through a lot of the same thing. Congrats on the 84.4 weight loss! That is great! Keep up the exercise and food logging....it will pay off even if it's just .5 pound at a time!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUZZ! I hope you get some answers at the doc.

Danbo, nice to hear from you. Thanks for the MD wishes. I'm jealous of you getting to go on that trip. Have a great time! Java, you look great!! Kudos for you for doing all that work. I know what you mean...if I had people to cook for I did the same thing. I may try to fix something even though I can't eat it, and there will be leftovers. I miss having my mom here. MJ it's cool you can be an example to people now, and I know what you mean about wanting to share your lapband experience.

Thanks Stef. Yes, it's definitely about getting the right mindset and walking past those snacks in the store...like someone said you still want them but you don't get them. I do stay away from wine. I can't metabolize it any more. More than 3 glasses and I vent all my emotions, good and bad. I'm a shy person, and usually fairly reserved. Blacking out and being an idiot is not the "me" I want people to see. I didn't mean my ticker-ticker...I just put my stats in my siggie line. I can't seem to add a ticker because it says too many lines. Is there a secret to getting all that stuff...pics....tag lines...etc., in your siggie?

Lennie, congrats on the weight loss. Having a partner in crime is helpful! Congrats to your dd on the upcoming nuptials. Oh, stay away from heavy objects! Ouch!! Suzz, congrats on the date. A fireman...whoohoo! I'd say keep your options open, you're hot property now! MJ is in ONEDERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job! I think the Junies need a club for the Onederlanders! Me, I can't lose an ounce if my life depended on it. I set out to lose 40 about two weeks ago, and I'm down 3 pounds. Still not where my ticker says I'm at, I'm hanging at 237. Okay, you guys, I want you to hold me accountable. I'm on a mission....Rhonda's Fit & Fabulous Forty-Pound Firtness Fantasy! I have 23 more weeks left.

Hang in there Stef! Do you know how your band is doing? Insub, hang in there too! Suzz, saw your pic on the B&A! Awesome! Bigbaby, I want to hear how it's going with the personal trainer!
-
Suzz, I don't technically gag when I PB slime....I just open my mouth and out it comes..almost in one big blob! I *know some of you know what I'm talking about! Guess the jury is still out on whether that constitutes a real PB! It can't be bad...or hurt my band, right? It's just like a clogged drain backing up fluid into the sink....errr....technically!
-
Sometimes a PB for me is just the slime that builds up when the food is taking it's sweet time going down, so does that count as a "PB" or am I a super expectorator? LOL :::Beauty and the Beast's Gaston singing "I'm especially good at ex-pec-tor-a-ting!!!!!" playing in my head!:::::

I was thinking today how long it's taking me to lose weight and what a f-up I am....compared to everyone who posts anyway. I have to be the biggest non-loser. I'm sure I have absolutely no credibility with anyone...why would I? I'm ashamed of myself. Then I got to thinking.....hmmmm....maybe there's other people who got their surgery the same time that are struggling like me. Maybe they just don't post. HA!! Double HA!! I needed to make myself feel a little bit better so I got my nails done. My cuticles are so ragged that they bleed, and my nails have been curling back on themselves, they are so weak, so I got acrylics. I got them short and square and I can still text and type. How's everyone else today? What are you eating?
-
Oops, forgot to tell you that I got the yogurt at Walmart. I think that many stores are starting to carry it.
-
Awww, don't beat yourself up Janine! I emotional eat when I'm too tight to enjoy food too. It's not like we're supposed to give up our love of food, right? we're just supposed to eat less. My name is Rhonda and I'm a FOODIE! Oh gee, I promised myself I would stop giving unwanted advice! Now you got me wanting a dirty martini....but I have stopped drinking *anything since March (liquid calories!).

I have 7.8 in my 10cc band now. Last fill was 4/16. B: Greek yogurt cup L: yogurt smoothie, blended with ice--still didn't feel like eating G (grazing): Costco-2 bites ham, pc veggie burger, bite of grain toast D: mixed salad (2 c--is that too much?), lamb pattie 4 oz but I might not eat it all S: I have my eye on some peanut m&m's...maybe 10 of them? I also had some milk 1/2 c. with my meds
-
Okay, I have a couple questions for all of you. How tight are you? What are you eating BLD?? I found some of the greek yogurt (honey) by Oikos. A 5.3 oz container has 120 calories, 0 fat and 13 g protein. I am able to eat this for breakfast or a snack.

Awwwww Suzz, thank you for having the heart to describe your feelings about eating around your family. It has to be so hard, and I can just imagine how lonely you felt. I often feel the same way eating with my family, or friends, and they *know about my band. They don't care! LOL Maybe if your family knew and could support you in your journey.....maybe it would help....probably not. People tend to be as caring and sympathetic as they can, but unless they have the band, they can't relate. I'm sure they're happy for you that you're getting healthy though. I actually just got tight enough for a few days that I knew how it was to eat very tiny morsels of food very slowly, and it took me a good 20 minutes to get my 1/2 cup of food in. I didn't try to eat a big bite, even chewed well and swallow it, I only took tiny pea sized bites and chewed well and swallowed. DUH moment! It actually worked! I loved that! That to me means my band is working, and I'm actually going to start losing weight! Wheeeee! Sorry, I'm sure that doesn't help. I'm not in the "wanna pig out" stage that I will be in a few weeks when the newness of my fill wears off, or when my TOM is here and I could eat anything in sight. Your reward is the ONE HUNDRED POUNDS you've lost! You're doing awesome!

Stef, someone at my support group described the same thing happening to her and her band, and she called it "mushrooming" or "muffin topping" the band. The tissue under the band swells, or is just too tight, and causes the tissue above the band (pouch) to mushroom over the top and collapse around the band. She also had to have all her fill removed. From what you describe, the band slipped a bit too. I wonder where it would go if it slipped more....it would have nowhere to go? That scares me to think of. I'm glad you're okay. This forum is such a blessing in that it provides us information so we know what to do if this ever happens to us. To make the band work, we need to be aggressive about our fills, but as we get nearer getting tight enough to slow the food down enough to make us get a full sensation, we also risk closing off during stress, TOTM, or just plain flukey swelling (me). In the case of the girl at my group, she just got too plain greedy with her fills to try to take off weight by eating nothing. I always tell hubby that one day, they will develop a band we can loosen and tighten ourselves. Wouldn't that be awesome! Speaking of awesome, I had lunch and dinner at Costco today! A couple hummus crackers, bites of Angus burgers and a Go-Gurt and I was set! I love my band! Senseless ramblings.......! :tongue_smilie:

Oh Stef, I'm sorry to hear about your band problems...never fun to not even be able to drink water comfortably...BTDT....so I can feel for you there. I went to a support group meeting after my fill Wednesday, and this issue was discussed at length, several people experiencing the overfilling, and talking about having to be unfilled...resisting that....putting our lives at risk, what we will do to lose....becoming basically bulimic-aneorexics is the truth of it! Wow, what a revelation to me. Getting our fills right is only a part of the battle I'm finding out. Loving myself, controlling my emotional eating, following guidelines for this little beast is more but not all of it. Anywho, I'm glad it will only take you two fills to get your restriction back if you choose to do that. I think it would take me about 10, going at the rate I do, and my swelling sensitivity. Whether you do or not, the band is there for you. It is interesting that this happened to you so near your goal...actually you look like you're *at goal right now. With your working out you may likely be able to maintain if you can steer clear of bad eating habits. I'm wishing you all the luck in the world, and continued good vibes being sent...keep your support system in place (us being #1 of course!!) and I think you'll do well. Heck, we'll hold you accountable!

Congrats Suzz on getting into Twoterville! You're doing so great! Soon your pic will be on the LapBandTalk.com header! Beckie, I'm so sorry about your 2nd mom and her untimely passing. My mom died that way 4 weeks after her hysterectomy. She's only been gone 1 1/2 years, and I still have not been able to deal with how she died...senseless. She was also my best friend and a force to be reckoned with for sure. Only time will ease your pain so be patient with yourself.
-
I am just inviting you to be my "friend" whatever that means! I like our group and I want to remember who's in it! I hope you're having a great week. Rhonda

BigBaby, my condolences.

You're doing awesome Missy!! What a difference.
