  1. I'm only 7 wks post-op but I did this too. However, I really took a long hard look at myself and said "Can you really stay on this without the band?" I realized for myself, that I was only good for about 2 or 3 weeks because I knew it was leading up to the band. So, I went forward with the surgery. But the thing to take from this is that you HAVE to know yourself and whether or not you can keep it up. God bless you on this journey!
  2. I was thinking it might be the water thing too. Trying to increase that and see if it helps. Thanks Ladies!

What To Eat Before First Fill

Depends on what time your appointment is. I usually go at Noon. My doc said not to have anything after breakfast, so that the stomach will be empty. I've just started having a protein shake for breakfast on those days...just to make sure. As for how many cc's...it will all depend on how much you can tolerate. Best wishes and blessings to you!
  4. Well...I've finished my fabulous lunch of tuna salad and celery sticks. I am sufficiently full. However, I've got a feeling that around 3:45, I'm going to be snacking on some cottage cheese. That's the way its been the past day or two. I don't like this. I feel like I'm eating too much.

How Do I Get Over A Plateau?

Down a pound today. That makes 33. I'm snacking again today (did so yesterday as well). Had cottage cheese and melon. I'm trying to cut back on the protein shakes...trying to have actual food to see if that helps me over this plateau. Thought I'd take heidib's advice. Let's hope it works.
  7. So its Monday and back to the grind. :) Down a pound today. That makes 33. I'm snacking again today. Had cottage cheese and melon. I'm trying to cut back on the protein shakes...trying to have actual food to see if that helps me over this plateau. Happy Monday Ya'll!

  8. So hungry today! I've decided that some days I need to have some "snacks" and I've decided that I don't have to wait as long to drink when I have a snack.but I will wait the full hour after a real meal. my snacks today have been fruit, a hard-boiled egg and about a 1/4 cup of sauerkraut w/hot dog. I've had something every two to three hours today. is that bad?

How Do I Get Over A Plateau?

@lucirose: I don't snack with food. If I get hungry, I'll have a Protein shake or drink flavored, SF Water. Since I have to wait an hour after I eat to drink anything, snacking on solid food just hasn't been on my list. @heidib...really eat more??

    Having A Really Hard Day!!!

Sounds exactly like my pre-op diet was. Who is your doctor? I agree with the others...just keep telling yourself its only a few days...and drink as much broth, eat as much SF jello and SF popsicles as you need to...and water! Don't forget your water. That's what I did. I also had the fasting tests in the middle of it as "waitingpatiently" did today. It was rough. I'm trying to go to bed a little earlier at night too. You can't eat if you're asleep. (and I don't feel my hunger until well after my alarm goes off in the mornings.). Blessings to you on this journey!

    Starting Pre Op Soon.shakes?

I use the EAS Pure Protein Chocolate. 23g protein and 7 carbs. I mix it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Yum. Even yummier when I add a tsp of instant coffee dissolved in about 1/4c. of hot water.

    Failed Lap Band!!!!

Wow...some doctors have a lot of gall to try stuff like that! I agree with the others. I would have the port fixed and band filled and try again before getting part of my stomach removed. After all, it was the doctor's negligence...not the band itself not working. Any surgery is a huge step...and you've already taken one with the band. But the sleeve is MAJOR. Saying a prayer for you!

  15. Today is the six week anniversary of my surgery. Seems like it was forever ago. LOL. On all liquids today and tomorrow since I had a 1/2cc fill yesterday. I can sure feel it too!

  16. How does one know if the band has slipped? I don't think mine has. However, I've been excercising a lot and i want to know what to look for...just in case.

How Do You Know If The Band Has Slipped?

i usually do after an adjustment. It also seems to me that after a week or two, the band relaxes a little and I'm able to eat a little more.

    awesome!
  19. Confirmed 30lbs down (doc's scale) and about a 1/2 cc fill. I have to remember that 30 lbs in less than 2 months is GOOD...and stop wishing it were more.

  20. 6wk post-op check-up today. Hopefully a fill. Wish me luck. :)

    Not Sure

I feel kinda the same way. i'm going in for m 6wk post-op check up. According to my scale, I've been fluctuating between 30 and 32 pounds lost over the past week. I have no idea what the doctor's scale will say. I'm hoping another fill will help also. Blessings to you!
