How Did You Tell People?
chrissylu replied to lbugher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
DebraG: My doctor, Dr. Charles Morton, here in Nashville is also in a controlled study for this as well. It was offered to me at no additional charge to my lap-band, if I would participate in the study. I didn't do it however. They are a great group as well. I don't know how far you are from Nashville, but as some of the others have said, its worth checking into...even if its just to calm your son's worries. I have to say, my 11-year-old said the same thing to me over just the lap-band and told me I was fine the way I was. That almost made me change my mind but I prayed and knew that God was making a way so I that I could be healthy for my son for the rest of my life. I will be praying for you! God bless you! -
I've been kinda down the past couple of days because I've been seeing the scale either not move at all...or move in the wrong direction. Of course, I'm chalking it up to PMS. You know, water weight and all. I'm also really bad about stepping on the scale every freakin' day. I have to stop that. Instead of going to church today, My son and I stayed at home and watched Dr. Charles Stanley on television. His message today was about waiting on God's best for you. Wow! I needed that reminder. You see, when we don't wait on God...when we move ahead of Him, we step outside of His will and His plan for us. We can wind up hurting ourselves or others. We can get frustrated, distracted or disappointed. But mostly, we lose out on His BEST for us. Sure, whatever we get might be okay or even good. But when we move ahead of Him, we lose out on His BEST. That really hit home for me. Learning to wait, to be patient and knowing that everything, especially this LB journey, takes time. I didn't get my body in this shape overnight, and I'm not going to get it healthy overnight....but I am taking steps to get there. I'm just going to trust Him and this tool He gave me, to get there in just the right amount of time...and stay there this time around! I pray God blesses you all richly and abundantly!

Please Stop It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with all of these statements above. I had a couple of negative reactions. I was even negative to myself about it a couple of times. But I prayed and asked God to guide. Finally, He gave me this question: "If your doctor said all of your arteries were blocked and you needed to have quadruple bypass surgery, would you hesitate?" My answer was "No. I would trust God to get me through that so I'm trusting Him to bring me through this." You can too. God bless you on this journey. -
Friday: Lapband Thoughts

I agree...the "teaming up" idea is a great one. Befriend her and just acknowledge to her that she'd asked you about your own surgery and losing weight fast. You might even say something like teaming up would help keep you accountable. That way you've (in a subtle way) acknowledged that help is needed, we all have to be accountable and that you're willing to help if she wants it....without really saying all that in those words. Blessings to you! -
ha! sounds like me!!

Okay...I've noticed that, since my surgery, my 14k gold rings are turning my skin grayish-black. They used to only do this around that TOTM (sometimes)...now its every day. Is anyone noticing this and is there anything I can do about it?

Its awesome that she's being supportive! But as she stated, she has to keep your information private or she could lose her job.

This was taken this morning. I'm beginning to see my waist again! It has been exactly six weeks since my surgery. -
What an awesome NSV! I'll have to pay more attention when I put my bra on. Its so much a habit...I hadn't really thought about it. LOL.

A few of my "go-to" items that work instead of fast food: Starkist pre-made tuna salad pouches, deli meats...especially turkey, vienna sausages. These are items you could run into any supermarket (instead of a fast food place), pick up quickly and eat easily. Well you would need a plastic spoon or fork for the tuna salad. Sometimes, I also make up 2 or 3 protein shakes at the beginning of the day and keep them in a fridge at work (or a small insulated lunch box). That way, I have them if I have to run out at lunch or something. Keeps me from stopping somewhere along the way. Best wishes and blessings to you on this journey!

this was taken for a work function. I hate it. I was wishing it could wait for a year for when I've hopefully reached my goal. -

110 Pounds In Less Than 9 Months!!!!!
chrissylu replied to Allison0927's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats Allison! I can't wait to hit that 110 mark! Only 74 more to go! MyJourney and Ready2BFit...God bless you both. A little fear is natural. I was afraid too.But I prayed and God calmed my fears, as I truly believe it was divine intervention that allowed me to have this procedure. And I thank Him for it. I feel so much better already! Prayer, a good support network, and a great doctor can calm the nervousness. Best wishes to you both! -
I'm 8 wks post-op today. I get hungry a few days after a fill because the band relaxes a little. My dietician/nurse told me that if I felt like I could eat a cup of food, to do it. I don't like that. LOL. So...sometimes I snack on low-carb, high-protein cheese or mix up a protein shake or drink more water to stave off the hunger. I started light exercise within a couple of weeks of my surgery...mainly just walking. Now I'm up to jogging some on the treadmill and back to my weight & ab machines. Best wishes and blessings to you!
