Congratulations on 60lbs! That's awesome! and in 3/12 months! Wow! I hope that by May 13, I can say the same thing! Or sooner...April 25th will be three months post-op for me, and it will be my 43rd birthday...I mean 4th anniversary of my 39th birthday. What a great present to myself that would be! As for your dad...maybe he enjoys seeing updated pictures of you and that's was his skewed attempt of letting you know that?? Maybe not...but it could be he's very proud of your achievement and maybe doesn't really know how to express it, especially if you haven't been very close to begin with. I pray that is what it is. But it sounds like that even without him, you have lots of other family support to help you celebrate! God bless!

godsgirlnky...I was banded 1/25 and my 3rd fill is schedule for next week. I'm also a 10cc band and I think I'm at 4cc. So NOT at the green zone. My weight loss has not been phenomenal in this second month...but my total weight loss is still above average than without the band. Can't wait for the fill next week cuz I'm hungry lots in between meals.

I chose my own protein drink as well. It had to have at least 15g of protein per serving and less than 200 calories, I think. I used Curves protein shake mix but now i'm using EAS 100% pure whey protein (chocolate). I'm 9 wks post surgery. My 1st week was 2 shakes for meals and 1 very specific lean cuisine meal. However, I opted to make my own high protein, low carb meals. Doctor gave me guidelines for that. 2nd week was protein shake 4x per day supplemented with clear liquids if I got hungry. Day before surgery was all clear liquids. I lost 12 pounds during my pre-op week. Congrats on your decision and God bless you on this journey!

Singing In The Choir After Surgery??
chrissylu replied to Ready2BFit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you might have to adjust a little on breath-control. A week or two after my surgery, I was singing at church and realized I wasn't controlling my as well. That has pretty much subsided now. -
Ugh! I'm so hungry...just an hour after eating! My adjustment isn't until next week. hate bandster hell.

I had some of the same worries. My 11 year-old almost talked me out of it, telling me I was fine the way I was. However, I'm a prayerful person and I prayed and I knew this was the tool that God had placed in my life. I also knew He was going to bring me through it with flying colors...and He did! I'm 8 1/2 wks post-op. I've lost 36 pounds. I read something this morning that really hit home to me and I posted it as my status: Worry is a misuse of imagination. The first week was tough but it was totally worth it. Yes, I would do it again. Best wishes and God be with you on your journey. I'll be saying a prayer for you!

I hope to be there in just a few weeks myself...but I think its going to take another fill to get me there. Congratulations to you! -
my NP bumped me up from 60 to 80g of protein a couple of weeks ago. I acheive it by having 2 high protein shakes in a day. Try having a protein shake for breakfast if you feel tighter in the mornings. I've read of a few other people who are...and then by lunch time have loosened up a bit. I'm on my 2nd fill but not feeling restriction so I'm limiting my own food intake right now. However, all of a sudden, I can't seem to get more than a 1/4 c. of chicken down before I get stuck. I just stop eating it and go get some cottage cheese...which is a pretty good source of protein by theway, and its soft. If you're having real trouble getting your nutrition in, you might want to see about getting a slight unfill. God's blessings to you!

I've been weighing everyday as well. It can be discouraging and I'm trying to stop. However, as WestTnGirl said...it can keep you accountable too. Yeah...that's what I'm going to go with. Its not an obsession. Its keeping me accountable. best wishes to you all!

Getting Banded 3/30 - So Nervous!
chrissylu replied to jackiedebo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've heard they do. I've not tried those. I get the chewable tablets and they seem to work pretty well. But to be honest, the walking seems to help more. I think its because the air isn't in your digestive system. Its in your abdomen trying to work its way out. I think the walking helps the body re-absorb it and it escapes the "regular way". Or we could just be sweating it out...I don't know. LOL...but it works. I've heard others say that a heating pad helps with the pain, but I never had to use that. -

Getting Banded 3/30 - So Nervous!
chrissylu replied to jackiedebo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Go easy on the "last supper" mentality. Remember that just because you're being banded, doesn't mean you can't eat anything...just means you have to be more careful about what you eat, and how much. Take a deep breath and know that you are doing something to make yourself healthy. The first few days are gonna be a little tough with the gas pain in your shoulder (walk as much as you can, use a heating pad, take gas-x), and in your abdominal area. But the more you move, the more that all works itself out. Don't be afraid to use your pain meds if you need them. Plan to not be at work for a few days. I took five days (2 of them were weekend days), I should have taken a couple more. Don't try to do too much too soon. Follow your doctor's orders. Best wishes and God bless you on this journey! -
