Ok I have been seeing these promotions on here for a few weeks now. I have tried Body By Vi shakes and they are decent tasting but they are pretty pricy. But the important thing is that they are sold via multi level marketing. Much like Amway. So people who are recommending these shakes have a financial stake. They make money off them. Not saying they are bad but just be informed that they are the new buzz in the multilevel marking biz and money may be more important than someone's best interest in what nutritious shakes they should be drinking.

I drank a lot on Friday during a pub crawl and I was very tight the next day. I was actually worried I had damaged something since I was only 5 weeks post op. Haven't felt 100percent since. I have learned my lesson. Need to take it easy next time.

February Bandsters?
Miss Meow replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go to Costco and buy the Premeire protein shakes. They are 30 grams of protein in each drink box. So at least you only have to drink two. -
I was told that if you have an autoimmune problem then you are not a good candidate for the Lapband. That your insurance will disquality you.

No Bm For 5 Days... Worried!
Miss Meow replied to Quinnmc79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But on the serious note. Milk of magnesia is a very gentle laxative that takes care of business without a lot of stress or aggression . It's supposedly natural and gentle. -
No Bm For 5 Days... Worried!
Miss Meow replied to Quinnmc79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always had BM problems and was super concerned it after surgery. I had a BM the day before surgery and the day after. Then I went almost a week without one. A friend told me to do a tablespoon of milk of magnesia and I would be ok. Well hot damn was she right. About an hour after taking the MOM you could have eaten out of my colon. It was clean as a whistle. Seriously about an hour after take the stuff it cleared out everything. I also weighed something like 2 lbs lighter the next day. -
1 tablespoon of milk of magnesia worked wonders for me. Kicked in about an hour after I took it. Cleaned out my colon like there was no tomorrow.

Has Anyone Tried Isopure Zero Carb Drinks?
Miss Meow replied to Quinnmc79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What is also funny Marissa is that I was very concerned that I wouldn't be able to get adequate protein. I thought of all sorts of ways to make sure I met my daily intake. Well I really conditioned myself because now I tend to meet my daily protein by lunch. Before it would have been more carbs by lunch. -

They are artificially sickeningly sweet. That is the best way to describe them. I tolerated them and they didn't make me gag. I drank them for the entire 2 weeks of my liquid phase. -
I had surgery on a Thursday and was back at work on Monday. It was all fine.

Smaller Band Vs Larger Band: Is This True?
Miss Meow replied to Twillwood's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor says that the "restriction" that you feel after surgery is actually from being swollen. As you heal that feeling will go away and you will feel hunger. Just be prepared for it. -
Lap Band Surgery In Mexico
Miss Meow replied to Pam72's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery in Mexico with Dr Kuri. The experience was very positive and the facilities were top of the art. I live close enough to have my aftercare in Mexico but I also have an option to go to a doctor near my home. He has an agreement with Dr. Kuri to treat his patients. -
I have only told a few of my friends about my LB and the ones that don't know are telling me how proud they are of me and that I've inspired them. This makes me feel like a fraud for some reason. Like I'm deliberately deceiving them. My husband says I'm doing all the work. And I do believe this to be true because I have no fill yet and am relying on pretty much my will power to lose weight at this point. And I gave up beer which I though I would NEVER do so I'm attributing a lot of that factor to weight loss as well. Sounds like I'm trying to convince myself. Have any of you felt this way? I'm not sure if and when I will tell people because I don't want to be judged for making this decision. Like I took the easy way out even though this has not been easy.

I've eaten scrambled eggs every day of my mushie phase. Well scrambled egg because I only eat one. It's on my list for mushies.

I understand where you are coming from. I guess I could be in the category of a "skinny" bandster. One of my fears was that I was going to be turned away once I got to Mexico for surgery. But my BMI was at 35 and I had sleep apnea and other health issues. I had another friend who did it who was the same weight as me. She said a lot of people judged her but she doesn't care now because she finally is happy and content with herself. I am afraid to tell a lot of my family and friends because of the fear of being judged. That I wasn't heavy enough and I should have just tried to eat right and exercise on my own. Because you know I haven't thought of that or tried those things yet. All I know if I thought about my weight probably 100 times a day. I refused to be in pictures and was so embarrassed about my weight that I opted out of an all class high school reunion. I guess I was going to be judged by my weight either way and at least with the band I will look good.

Sounds like you should have picked up a few more things while shopping at WalMart. I have multiple sizes in my closet so fortunately I will have stuff that fits to wear when I start really losing good. Cngrats on the weight loss. -
Do You Sometimes Feel Like A Fraud?
Miss Meow replied to Miss Meow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sigh. I miss cake and ice cream. Why didnyou have to go and bring cake and ice cream up? Yes I see your point. I have friends who have never disclosed their plastic surgery. This actually takes effort. My stomach just doesn't disappear overnight. -
Do You Sometimes Feel Like A Fraud?
Miss Meow replied to Miss Meow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Whoops premature post. If I have a friend who can truly benefit from the band I would definitely share what I did with them. I'm not trying to bamboozle anyone but i don't really want to share what I did with everyone I know either. Further down the line I may want to share with everyone. -
Do You Sometimes Feel Like A Fraud?

I don't have many friends who need WLS. The ones that do or did have already had surgery themselves. They are who I got the idea from in the first place. But I do have friends who work out for hours a day or who are blessed with awesome metabolism. These are the friends that would probably judge me the most. They can't understand why I didn't just hit the gym or take up running for miles a day to solve my weight woes. Then there are those people who may have 10 lbs to lose and want to kno -
Do You Sometimes Feel Like A Fraud?
Miss Meow replied to Miss Meow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone. It's only been three weeks for me and I keep hoping I can pull this all off. Most of my friends are in the normal weight range so it isn't something I would recommend to them. The people I have told have been supportive but I guess I'm in a way ashamed to having to "resort" to WLS. I know some of my friends would have an absolute cow if they knew. Most of my friends told me I wasn't heavy enough to go to this extreme every time I even mentioned it. Told me to just cut back and exercize more. Wow I had NEVER thought of that before. But in the end it's myself I have to make happy and myself who needs to accept the decisons I have made. Jean you made me laugh. And I also just finished reading your book. Loved it. Very informative. -
What Company Can I Work For In South East Az That The Insurance Will Cover Lapband?
Miss Meow replied to shay7586's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What I was saying that quoting that over 30,000 people have been killed in the drug wars needs to be put in persepctive. That number can be used to account for deaths over a period of 20 years. A high percentage could account for the actual people involved in the cartel themselves. The US probably has similar numbers of people killed while involved in the drug trades if you spread it to the beginning of problems with drugs. Yes there are innocent people killed and get caught in crossfire but to quote that over 30,000 people have been killed in Mexico makes it seem that you are insinuating that they were all tourists there just minding their own business. -
Lightheadedness? A Bit Dizzy? Anyone Else
Miss Meow replied to #MagicWithinme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same Toddy. Can't imagine that my 16lb weight loss would be enough to effect my vision. Kind of freaking me out. I'm going to put in a call to my nurse/patient advocate. -

That figure is total deaths related to the cartel. How many were actually involved in the drug trade and how many were tourists? -

The only travel warning I have seen or heard about relating to Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada have been to exercise caution if traveling at night. Anyways it is your choice. I would gather as much information as possible if I was you regarding any place you choose to have surgery including Mexico. -
Lightheadedness? A Bit Dizzy? Anyone Else
Miss Meow replied to #MagicWithinme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sitting here right now with some lightheadedness. And Thursday will be 3 weeks for me. I kind of feel like I'm blaming everything on the surgery. I also keep thinking that my vision is weird. Don't know how surgery would affect my eyesight.
