Anyone Experience Anger Soon After Surgery?

When I started my pre-op diet I got very angry and had horrible headahes ... I was told it was because my body was detoxing from the carbs and caffeine ... It is as bad as coming off drugs, this is what I was told and I believe it ... Just keep drinking your water and it will pass. good luck to you =0)

Who Have You Told You Were Banded?

I have told my family and close friends, most of my close friends have had wls. I am not broadcasting it and have told my children it is not something they need to tell their friends. It is a personal issue and if you want to tell people, it is your choice to do so. I am not ashamed or embarassed by it, I didn't go and tell everyone that I had a hysterectomy either. Medical issues are a need to know basis type of thing. As far as your husband is concerned, you do have the right to be upset but don't hold on it the feeling. Talk it out and let it go, I am sure he knows he shouldn't have told, that's why he told you a few weeks after the fact. Just remind him that what he did was not very nice and ask him to not do it again. Stress and anger can mess with your weight loss. So stay positive and keep moving forward =0) Good luck to you !!!

    No Weight-Loss Before Surgery!

Like I told you, I didn't even try to lose weight in that period because I was worried that if I lost weight BCBS would refuse my surgery. I was told by my WLS consultant that even if I did lose weight they would submit my highest weight to BCBS ... When you get to the pro-op diet, I am sure you will do just fine. Don't sweat the 'wait period' BCBS makes you go through. But I will tell you that to sooner you get used to not having big meals, carbs, and caffine, the easier the process will be. Just try to cut back on that stuff over the next month or so. You can do this !!! Good luck =0)
  4. I didn't have any headaches after I was banded but the 2 week pre-op diet about killed me ... I actually had to call my friend who had wls several years ago and ask her what was going on ... I had a horrible headache and was extremely grumpy. She explained that it was because I was detoxing off the carbs and caffine ... You don't realize how much your body craves them and when you just stop taking them in your body reacts ... Carbs and caffine where my drug of choice and my body was fighting giving them up. Just hang in there and keep drinking your water, it will get better !!! Good luck to you =0)

    No Weight-Loss Before Surgery!

I have BCBSNJ and I had a 6 month wait before surgery but my WLS Consultant submitted my request 3 months early and I was approved. I didn't even try to lose weight during that time. I did however work very hard at the pre-op diet (it isn't easy) and I cheated a few times, but I lost 12lbs in that 2 weeks. After I was banded I lost 9lbs in less then 9 days but am at a stand still right now. Your body kinda fights it for a little while. But I am not hungry at all and I have to remind myself to eat something. I am on the soft diet this week and am basically sticking to the full liquid diet with very little soft foods. I am afraid that something will get stuck LOL I know this is not as easy as I thought it would be but it is getting easier. Just keep reminding yourself that it will all payoff in the long run. Good luck to you =0)
  6. My Story ... I was banded on 1/16/12 and had to do the pre diet for 2 weeks prior. I lost 12lbs on the pre diet and I have lost 9lbs since the banding. I am excited about my new life and still a little freaked out that this new ife has already started !!! I could use any advise and support that you are willing to give.

    9 Days Post Op

I had my surgery on 1/16/12 and have lost 10lbs since and that was all in the first week as well. I have been reading as much as I can about this and everything I have read says to give it time. Your body is healing and it is also in what I like to call the "oh crap" mode ... It is going to try to hold on to every little bit it gets aka starvation mode. Put your scale away and don't let it set your mood for the day. It will come off, it is just going to take some healing time first. I know I was pretty upset when the scale stopped moving but I am just going to give it time and only weigh in at the dr office !!! LOL Good luck to you =0)

    Liquid Diet

I have tried several different shakes and the one that I like best is Premier Protien Shakes. They are ready to drink and the vanilla is yummy. The pre diet kinda sucks and just know that you will go thru carb and caff withdrawls (makes you grumpy and gives you a headache) But it will pass, just don't forget to drink lots of water. My new slogen is "Just go with it". The less you fight it, the easier it will be =0) Good luck to you.
