Just Starting The Process....
Ladybug28 replied to trina43's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Trina! Welcome! You'll find lots and lots of wonderful information on here so glean all you can!! Don't be afraid to ask specific questions either. Everyone is great and you'll get lots of opinions and advice...it's sgreat! Good luck with your journey, hoope it all goes wonderfully for you! Deb -
I agree! You have to make your mind up that you are not going to fail this time, it's not an option. As long as you do as your doctor says you should be a success.
-
Absolutely!! It wasn't until I found out our insurance was going to start to finally cover LB surgery and coming to this site and really reading tons of posts that I decided it wasn't a cop out....like I had been thinking for years. I knew I could lose the weight once I finally put my mind to it....BUT my problem is and always has been I keep seem to keep it off for very long. I sick of being on the YO-YO plan...I turned 60 this past summer and I decided I'm done with being fat, not doing some of things that otherwise I'd be doing if I wasn't embarrassed because of my weight....I've struggled my whole life with weight and now I can lose the weight and the band will help me keep it off. The key though is to follow religiously what your doctor tells you, stay away from the things he/she says to stay away from. It will be nice to have POWER over food rather than fooding having al the power over me for so long. I can't wait to get started!!! Wish I had been able to do this years ago! Deb

Getting Surgery In A Month..any Suggestions..?? A Little Nervous..
Ladybug28 replied to Kristih's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't wait Sherry! In 2002 I lost 70 lbs and felt wonderful, I wanted to be able to get down on the floor with my twin grandbabies....I made it and I kept it off nearly 4 years, the longest I had ever kept weight off. Then a breakup and a couple medical issues kept me down for a while and in the meantime the 70 came back on with an extra 35 on top of that. For about 6 years now I've been totally disgusted with myself and in June when I learned out insurance was going to cover all but $1500 I made my mind up I was sick and tired of being overweight so I started the 6 month program that was required to have the surgery, my 6 mos was done just las Thursday so now I'm waiting for insurance approval with surgery Mar 21................soooo looking forward to this journey and being the woman I was intended to be!! I will friend you both so we can keep tabs on each other! Thanks for the great conversation today!! xo -

I'm getting use to the idea of being done with rice, pasta, bread for sure....I'm planning to be done with "whites" cause they're not good and I've known it for years. It's a new journey and I plan to make it as healthy as possible. -

no questions is dumb sweetie....that's how you find ou what you need to know. t. I've noticed some people push the envelope so to speak, finding ways to eat some things they're not suppose to. So when I say that, and yes, easy for me to say since I haven't had surgery yet, following all the guidelines your doctor gives you of what to eat and what NOT to eat, and keep in the amounts they say too. Our whole goal is to lose the horrible habits we've had and lose all the excess wait we've been carrying around for so long so why even attempt to eat stuff we shouldn't.. Once you take the first "cheat" it's like opening up the flood gates, for me anyway, I've learned that from sooooo many diets. Once I make my mind up I know I will stick to it and lose the weight, my problem has always been keeping it off! With the band it will restrict how much I eat but I still have to put the right stuff in my mouth. Keep your eye on the prize and keep thinking about all the reasons you're doing this. Deb -

Has Anyone Tried Isopure Zero Carb Drinks?
Ladybug28 replied to Quinnmc79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope you have a speedy recovery! I've read on here that Unjury is good, and mixes easy compared to some others, I ordered a sample pack but haven't tried them yet. They have unflavored so you could add it to juice, milk or even your broth for extra protein. this forum has their ads on the sides. Its a good website and seems very imformative. The doctors office game me a big bag of samples to try, in it is isopure drinks, I'll be starting preop on the 5th so I'll be sampling this weekend to see which ones I like. Good luck to you!! Hope all goes well for you! -

Is Chopped Liver Considered A Soft Food?
Ladybug28 replied to Jenn1214's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wouldn't consider liver a soft food, like the doctors are talking of. I have to be on liquids for a full 4 weeks after surgery, 2 wks before. I can't wait to get started though! -
