I have not heard anything about a sleep study. I hope this is it. This process can become stressful but I am hoping and praying that It will be over with and worth the wait. I will pray that it will go thru for you. If you dont mind how much do you weigh? I would not be so adament to get this if I didnt have high blood pressure, and type two diebeties. I guess I am really worried about my poor organs. It is a good thing that you dont have those problems tho. Good Luck!

YOU LOOK WONDERFUL YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Hi, I personally chose the sleeve because Gastric Bypass surgerys are intense. All though all of them are intense, as well as serious. I am looking to lose about 100 pounds myself, and did not like the side effects such as the dumping syndrome etc with Gastric. Besides you are always able to get gastric in the event that the sleeve does not work for you. It is good to have another option avaliable. Most of all good luck and I wish you well!

I was wondering the same thing. I heard this could be done outpatient, and sent home the same day. I knew a overnight stay should be required. Maybe it depends on the doctors. Thanks for the info everyone!

Hello everyone, I went to my first consultation. I am a little scared of the sleeve now. I was so excited, but after going to this, I am now fearful of the sleeve leaking. I know like this it is complications with everything, but I just want to know if anyone has had this fear at all. The doctor talked about long term effects. Has anyone had their sleeve longer than 10 years and if so how are things going ? Any feed back would be wonderful! I love the support here!!

Long Term Effect-Gastric Sleeve
jewels1227 replied to jewels1227's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks to everyone who replied. I absolutely love this forum. @Pecan Brown-I went to UNC chapel Hill. I am pretty sure I am sticking with the sleeve. I am excited about proceeding and moving forward with this. I know over time people will stop getting the lap band because of the issues in the end. -
Long Term Effect-Gastric Sleeve
jewels1227 replied to jewels1227's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@Dooter, the only thing he spoke about was the staples leaking. He said you would know when they are leaking because you would get sick. They would possibly have to go back in and restaple them again over a period of time if that happens. I think that is my worse fear! -

jewels1227 replied to jewels1227's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks Circa....thanks for the information. He did explain that as well. People were traveling to Mexico and other places in order to have the procedure done. I was thinking the same thing about foods. I just didnt know if it was a zero tolerance list to some things. Thanks! -
Long Term Effect-Gastric Sleeve
jewels1227 replied to jewels1227's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks Rootman! I agree wholeheartly. I am doing more research now. I personally still feel good about the sleeve, even though he does more lapband surgerys. Is their any food or limitations you have when eating? I know with the gastric bypass it is a lot of foods that are not reccommended, such as sweets (because of the dumping effect), which has to be terrible at times. Thanks for all the info -
Long Term Effect-Gastric Sleeve
jewels1227 replied to jewels1227's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for responding CowgirlJane. I live in North Carolina, and he stated it was just recently approved, however they mostly do lapband surgery. I could not list any long tern risks because it is so new. That is why I asked on this forum. He have had a lot of success with his patients with the lap band and gastric, I was just a lill weiry when he started talking about the sleeve. He said he would recommend it, if his child had to recieve it. But I am just a lil curious. Thanks again! -

Hello, Sleeve family I am new to the forum. I am looking to get this procedure done. I am in my late 20's and have always battled with weight loss issues. I am boarder line diabetic(insulin), blood pressure, and tyroid problems. Just would like some tips on if this has worked and if the weight stays off. I walk at least three times a week, and does not consume a lot of food. I wonder my self why I am fat. I am about 5'3 and weigh 279 pounds.

@Lissa thanks! I have tried it. It puzzels the doctors, so this is my last resort. I used to feel like I just ate a lot of junk, but I have completly changed my eating habits. Earlier this month I lost like 5 pounds, but when it returned it returned double. Crazy hun? I am tired of being depressed, because I know what I am doing and what I have not doing. Thanks for all of the advice, and congratualtions on your weight loss, You look GREAT! @Alexeleni, wow, I know that you are excited. I am presenly doing my research now, I am glad I ran across this site. I have tried the supervised diet, and actually liked it, but I continue to gain weight. I am not sure as to what else to do. This is really my last hope. Congratulations, and thanks for the information! Good Luck
