myluv2drive replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I went for my 3 month check up & fill. I lost 6 lbs this past month and got a 1cc fill which puts me at 5.5cc's. I am feeling great. I hope all my other Feb. Bandsters are doing good also. -
February Bandsters?

Feeling a little discouraged here. It has been 2 weeks since last fill and I have not lost any weight in that time. I have actually gained 1 lb. I am still doing all the right things. I am 10 lbs away from Onederland and I'm scared I might be at a plato. Any advice that might help me? -

Went for my 2nd fill yesterday. I got .5cc so this puts me at 4.5cc's. I actually have felt that little difference today because I can't seem to eat as much as before. I had lost 11 lbs since my 1st fill, blood pressure is normal so no more meds and doctor says I am doing great. Hope everyone from Feb. is doing good. I have hit the 40 lb mark since surgery and I feel great. -
After trying so many Protein shakes and hating them all I finally found one that I think you will love. I am actually addicted to them. They are made by HealthSmart and they are called ChocoRite Protein Shakes. They have various flavors but my favs are Peanut Butter, strawberry, banana, cappacinno and chocolate. Here is a webste where I buy mine from http://www.netrition.com It says mix 2 scoops with Water for 150 calories and 24 grams of protein but I didn't like the water base so my doctor said I could use skim or 1% milk and omg that made them so good. He said all the milk does is boost your protein and calories just a little. Try them, I think you will be satisfied with them. Good luck!!!!

Don't give up, hang in there. I was banded on Feb. 16th and had my first fill of 4cc's on March 19th. I really have not lost much since then but I go for my second fill a week from Monday so hoping for more restriction after that. I myself have not been exercising much either because I have severe joint problems in my feet so I am hoping after losing a little more weight that I can start walking more. Don't weigh yourself everyday because that will discourage you I think. I was doing it also at first and was getting mad at not seeing drastic lose so now I weigh once a week on Fridays. Hang in there, you will do great. Make sure you are staying within your calorie count, getting all your protein in, and drinking plenty of water. You can inbox me anytime to talk or catch me on facebook at Teresa Ervin Palmer. Always willing to listen and help anyway I can. -
Is Having Good And Bad Days Part Of The Lap-Band Journey?
myluv2drive replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow will be 9 weeks since I had my surgery, I am down 34 lbs since I started my pre op diet 2 weeks before surgery and I worry about my band & port area. It is getting easier everyday though because I stay focused on what I eat, making sure I get all of my protein, staying within my calories, getting my exercise and making sure I drink all my water daily. It will get easier with time. You will do fine and don't worry about your band. It is your friend and it is working for you to get you healthier. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. -

In reply to my earlier post about food getting stuck. I had surgery on 2/16 and had my first fill on 3/19 of 4cc's. I have thought since my fill that I didn't have any restriction but that stuck episode proved me wrong. I have never experienced anything like that. It felt like when you eat ice cream to fast and you get the freeze in your shoulder blade but 10 times worse and I got really sick. You can bet your money that I am chewing chewing chewing and taking small bites now. Thanks for all the concerns and words of encouragement. Happy Easter everyone!!! -

Just a reminder to everyone: Be careful what you eat, how much you eat and always remember to chew, chew & chew. After sticking to mainly fish & poultry since I have been able to eat regular foods, today I attempted to try beef which was a very lean hamburger steak. One of the very first bites got stuck. OMG, it was so so painful and I got sick. I don't think I will be eating beef anymore for a long long while. Please be careful everyone. -

Hope all you Feb Bandsters are doing well. I am 7 weeks post op and I am down 33 lbs as of today. Down 2 pants sizes and after being in a 3x shirt for ever it seems I went down to a 1x. Really excited about my future and hopefully my good health. -
I just came back from a meeting with my nutritionist and I am 7 weeks post op, she said I needed to start eating different meats because I have been eating mainly fish & chicken. She even mentioned a roast cooked in the crock pot would be very tender and something good for me to eat as long as it is very lean. So I would say it would be great for you in small portions.

Yes pinto beans are good for you. High in protein & fiber, as long as you cook them good and mash them before you put them in your mouth and chew chew.... @ kr8160311, I thought I was going to have to live on protein shakes the whole time but I started with one food at a time and just took my time and so far I can eat a good many things. I have not tried beef yet though. I am a little scared.

I am almost 7 weeks post-op and I have been on soft foods for about 2 weeks. They told me to eat about 3/4 to 1 cup of food per meal. I have been eating egg whites, turkey bacon, baked fish such as tilapia or flounder, mashed potatoes, veggies cooked soft, baked chicken & greek yogurt just to name a few. I have found as long as I chew very well that I don't have any problems. I eat 4 times a day and 2 of the times are protein shakes. Hope this helps you..... Good luck..

So I had my first fill on the 19th which was 4 cc's and had surgery 2/16. After almost a week I am finding that 4cc's is not enough. I am eating every 4 hours and still at 3 to 3 1/2 hours I'm getting hungry. I think I need to try eating every 2 hours. Any suggestions from any other Feb Bandsters that have already had fills??? -

Protein Shakes Please
myluv2drive replied to kr8160311's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh one more thing, You can mix with water, skim or 1% milk. It isn't to good with water but with skim milk it adds more protein to the drink. -
Protein Shakes Please
myluv2drive replied to kr8160311's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
http://www.netrition.com/healthsmart_chocolite_protein_shakes.html These are the BEST protein shakes I think on the market. This website you can get them cheap and depending on where you live can get them within 2 days via ups. My fav's are peanut butter, banana, strawberry & cappacino. So So GOOD.... -
I know every doctor is different on their process but my doctor ask me questions about my eating and how I felt. I told mine I was getting hungry between my meals. I eat every 4 hours and was getting hungry after about 3 hours. I went for my first fill Monday and got 4cc's. Had my surgery on 2/16.

Had my first fill yesterday (surgery 2/16) and got 4cc's. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. My doctor has such a great sense of humor and made me feel so good. He is good because within a second he had the port ready to fill. I have to be on liquids (protein shakes) for 48 hrs. So far no hunger in between meals which before the fill I was getting hungry before my next meal. Hoping this next month is a good one. I go back to see him again in April. Hope everyone getting fills this week have a great experience like I did.... GOOD LUCK

Today I go for my 4 week check up (banded 2/16) and hopefully for my first fill. I am down 30 lbs since Feb 2nd when I started my 2 week pre-op diet. I am eating every 4 hours but I am getting hungry after about 3 hours. I usually do 2 to 3 protein shakes a day. I hae found the best protein shakes that taste so yummy and I am having a hard time letting them go. I was able to eat a small amount of salad the other night and it went down really well. I hope everyone else is doing good. -
Glad to hear your first fill went well. I have my first fill Monday and I am nervous. I have heard that my doctor is really good also because everyone I talk to there says it will only fill like a little prick. Still I am nervous. I have been exercising but not as much as I should because I have serious feet problems but I to am going to start doing better. Good luck to you....
