Can you help me with these?
Sunshyne068 replied to 3mommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Premier Protein shakes available at costco have 30 g of protein/160 cals per shake. very tasty. And Oh Yeah! has tons of low sugar high Protein Shakes, available at luckyvitamin.com and the Vitamin Shoppe -
are you feeling satisfied after eating a few bites, or are you feeling discomfort and pain? If its not pain, then I wouldn't assume that you have a slipped band.

Any suggestions to help with hunger until I get another fill?
Sunshyne068 replied to dolphintattoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is a new one and I cant believe Im about to say this ... but what about exercising when youre feeling hungry? Take a walk or bike ride? Hit the gym? And like the others said, drink some Water or eat some low calorie fruit (melon?) -

My fiance' and I are attending 2 parties on July 6. One of which is a WHITE PARTY .... uggggg the most unflattering color to someone trying to lose weight and watch their figure. So I'm setting a small goal for myself ... I want to lose 5 lbs in the next 10 days ... let's see if i can make this happen.

good rule Guy .... I noticed after my last fill that i dont tolerate bread like I used to. I may start to eat a sandwich and after the first bite I feel how heavy that chewy doughy bread is in my chest ... and I just eat the meat and cheese only and go on about my way ... -
Watery Mouth and Foam
Sunshyne068 replied to dramastarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you were "sliming" which is what happens when something is stuck, the mouth waters and foams trying to lubricate your passages to get the blocked out. I would stay away from carbonated beverages - did you Dr say it was ok to have soda? A lot of ppl here say their Dr and Nut. take it out of their diet completely. If this keeps happening you can stand upright with yoru hands over your head and walk around for a little while to see if it subsides. I suggest you call your Dr and see if he wants you to come in. -
Post-op Full liquid diet 'recipes' please :)

ice pops, frozen pops, etc etc. Any type of cream soup was a savior for me. I would put it in my bullet blender to make sure if it hand anything in it (like cheddar broccoli) that I could drink it without any problems. Peach tea ... tomato bisque soup. strained lobster bisque soup (costo brand). -
Well ... I weighed in at 242 this week ... down from 247 from the week before .... the reason was simple ... I took in less calories than I expended .... not because I watched what I ate or because I went to the gym a lot ... but because I fell into a DEEP DEPRESSION because my fiance' and I had had one of the WORST arguments/fights/spats/issues in the entire course of our 4 year relationship. I couldn't eat, could barely sleep, I didnt get out of bed for like 36 hrs unless it was to go to the bathroom or to get something to drink. It was horrible, and even though I tried to force myself to eat I still didn't get more than 500 calories a day for about 4-5 days. It was a nightmare mentally and emotionally, but the smallest tiny part of me was happy that the scale was moving. It let me know that my scale isnt broken. My ability to eat less food isnt totally gone. Now my fiance' and I are making up and working things out and back on track and my appetite is back. I haven't looked at the scale but I'll fill you guys in when I do.

Well .... In a previous post I mentioned that I usually don't feel the restriction of my fills immediately. It takes 2-3 weeks then out of nowhere I start to feel that restriction and I have to alter how I eat ... Well my last fill was May 30 and I was discouraged for several reasons: 1. I had been losing weight at a FABULOUS pace from Feb-Mar ... but I had some sever acid reflux issues and I got an unfill. 2. Because of the unfill I gained about 7-8 lbs ... 3. I went back and got GRADUAL fills, so I still wasnt at my prior level of restriction ... I gained 2-3 more lbs ... 4. Got this last most recent fill and I'm back where I was before as far as cc's in my band ... I think I actually have 0.25 more than I had before ... which is great EXCEPT I didn't feel the same. I felt like I could eat anything ... Welp ... on June 14 (14-15 days after my fill) ... It came back! I actually started to subconsciously feel the triggers and started pushing away my plates much sooner than before. This is important to me bc its one thing to feel a trigger and have to force myself to stop eating because I still feel hunry, or because Ive reached 1.5 cups of food and I know I shouldnt eat anymore ... its ANOTHER thing to actually feel somewhat satisfied and just stop eating with playing mind games with myself about why I should put the fork down ... SO this week I feel optimistic ... I feel like I am back in my happy place or somewhat near it and I can go for hours and hours without eating or obsessing about food. I can be satisfied with 1 cup of food and not be upset inside because I want to eat more. I am very excited for what's instore this summer, as I just want to be able to lose 5 lbs a month and see some changes in my body <fingers crossed - prayers going up>

My nutritionist is like President Obama, I can never get in touch with her. I have to call and leave several messages and speak with her assistant etc etc. I exercise 3X a week about 90 mins per session. My menu is posted on MFP (user name Sunnyhoney11)

Welp ... I'm sure you can imagine that I ended up on the Lap Band's doorstep because I tried every other diet/workout/fad imaginable to lose weight ... and somehow still needed more help. I've tried Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Paleo, Green Tea pills, Phentermine pills, B-12 shots, Lipo Shots, Liquid diets, and any other thing you can think of. I was very unimpressed with the side effects that the pills and crash diets had on my body - jitters, constipation, etc. And as I am here now struggling still with the lap band trying to get my weight down wiht a feeling of my own will and discipline, I have something else to "try" and I navigate my way to the green zone. So a few months ago I bought some "chia seeds" from Trader Joes. I mixed them with some water like Dr. Oz said on his TV show, and they were the weirdest grossest feeling thing ever. They were lumpy and slimy and crunchy at the same time ... I was confused and grossed out and never opened the bag again. BUT ... I realize that on my journey to the green zone what I really need is something that keeps my hunger under control, so that I can feel more satisfied eating small portions of healthy foods ... and supposedly this is exactly what Chia Seeds do ... they swell once they are mixed with a liquid, and therefore make you feel full once you eat or drink them ... SOOOOOOOOO I figured I would try to outsmart myself and eat them again without making myself gag. I tried them yesterday morning with my protein shake. I didnt mix them with the shake, but I took a gulp of the shake and shoved a teaspoon of the seeds in my mouth, then swallowed quickly and drank some more. Well I have to say that if I was guessing, I may have subsided my extreme hunger pangs for maybe an extra 30 mins or an hour ... so I did the same thing before I left work late in the afternoon ... and again I felt satiated for maybe 30-45 mins. So I'm at it again this morning, drinking my protein shake and eating the seeds simultaneously. And I'll do the same thing this afternoon before I leave work (1.5 teaspoons per sitting). I'll see if there is correlation to how long they supress my hunger, and the amount of seeds I take in, so I'll gradually increase the amount and see what happens. I'll keep you all posted. If you woild like to try them, they have them at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's (and probably fresh market) for under $5 per bag. I suspect that this bag may last me about 3 weeks. And if anyone else has had some experience with them please let us know!

Sunshyne068 replied to hellokitty2013's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You look FANTANSTIC!!! What are you eating and how are you exercising? Congrats on the babies!!! -
I can really identify with this. I get the signal (tightness in chest, long sigh, hiccups) and I ignore them sometimes bc I still feel hungry in my tummy. Im trying to learn how to heed these warnings but its so hard.

Subway has salads, and kids meals which I think are a 3 inch sub. Or you could just get the 6 inch and not eat the whole thing, save it for later. Anywhere with a kids meal is good. Applebees has Soup and salad (so does Olive Garden). I dont really eat at Wendy's bc the fries are too tempting.

Hello all, I'm trying to get some nutrition tips because my weight loss has been EXTREMELY slow. I exercise regularly and I usually dont eat more than 1.5 cups of food for lunch and dinner with minimal snacking in between ... I haven't had a one on one meeting with my office's NUT yet because getting to see her is like getting to see the Pope or something - very busy and you cant even talk to her directly .... anyway, so rules she mentioned in our group glass (some that im having a hard time following) are: 1. eat 1000 cals a day or under I found this online just now - I'll give it a try since I current eat 1100-1200 daily http://www.fammed.usouthal.edu/Guides&JobAids/handouts/Metabolic/1000CalMealPlanningGuide.pdf 2. get at least 60-80g or Protein 3. only have 3 carb servings per day (only with 2 meals) Have your NUT's given you any concrete rules or guidelines? Does anyone have any meal plan suggestions to share?

Welp, the scale said 248 this morning .... SIGHHHHHHHHH. Ive posted the lap band rules in my cube in TWO places so I can see them all the time. I need to get them burned into my eyeballs thru repetition until I start making them a daily habit and lifestyle. I feel like I'm in bandster hell right now ... and I say that bc I have a time period between when I get my fill, and when I actually FEEL my fill (2-3 weeks) so right now even though I know I have a fill I still haven't started to feel that increase in restriction. It's been 11 days since my fill so maybe at the end of this week I start to feel some marked difference. In the meantime .. I'm hoping that this fill is what gets me back into the green zone (I was there once several months ago for a VERY short period of time - but I had to get an unfill due to acid reflux issues) ... and now Im trying to get back there. I'll keep posting my weight and comments as a hope to keep me accountable for what I'm doing and eating. I worked out this weekend, and I did P90x Plyometrics yesterday ... "maybe" the scale isnt moving but Im losing inches since Im working out <fingers crossed> Maybe I'll post some pics along this journey until my wedding for you guys.

Sunshyne068 replied to Sunshyne068's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I actually do NOT measure. I try to eyeball it based on the foodguidelines, like a fist equals a cup, etc. Sometimes I pack my lunch in a 1 cup or 1.25 cup container so I know the size is right (but that's rare). Target has food scales (non digital) on sale for $3 in the front of the store in their bargain bins, so maybe I'll pick one up this weekend -

I had a Protein shake for breakfast and chicken salad over lettuce for lunch, so hopefully I can keep the trend and have protein at dinner too. <fingers crossed> Please follow me on MFP too if you have it! -
Nutritionist Rules - What did yours say?
Sunshyne068 replied to Sunshyne068's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do track my calories using my fitness pal (user name Sunnyhoney11) and I drink well over 80 oz of water/mixed water drinks daily. I dont eat Protein first though, I eat whatever I want first. I'll try that this week. I do make sure not to drink liquid with my meals. I don't however make sure that I have protein at eaxh meal ... I sometimes go without and I guess I can try to work that into my routine also. Thanks for the great tips!! -
Eating slower makes me eat less, and I do get tired of chewing and chewing so I just stop eating bc I dont feel like doing all of the work to get the food down (enter slider foods bc they are easy to eat - STAY AWAY FROM THEM). I have to know that after I eat about 1 cup of food I feel full in my chest, NOT my stomach. and I still feel hungry in my stomach ... but I know that in order to lose weight being hungry isnt the worst thing int he world. My stomach is growling forcfully as I type this and has been for at least an hour, but I know that I don't need to eat anything until lunch time ... and i TRY not to snack between meals unless its fruit or something. I drink between meals to try and keep me full but I still have the feeling of hunger and basically I'm just forcing myself to deal with it. My band is pretty full (hence I get the full feeling in my chest after 1 cup of food) so I dont think I need a fill, I just need to be tough and make healthy eating and losing weight a priority .... its a hard struggle for some of us. Just hang in there and follow your doc and NUT orders.
