2 cups of string Beans are 250 cals??? Really I thought 1 cup was only about 70 cals if they were steamed and salted no butter? I dont eat 1/2 at each meal except for Breakfast when I have a yogurt cup and thats it .... but for lunch and dinner im eating like 1.5 cups each. NOT to say that I have the best advice because my weight loss is VERY slow ... but just adding my 2 cents

Biotin pills are good for hair loss. And I was also told 60-80 grams of protein each day. -

CONGRATS!!!!!!!! -
I started the week at 243 .... yesterday the scale said 247 - what the HECK?!?!?!?! This past weekend I was on liquids because of my recent fill, now Im back on solids and that 4 lbs just jumped on???? SIGH AT least I'm getting my protein in. And I went to the gym twice already this week and I'm going again today for more cardio. Maybe I'll try to do a liquid breakfast and a liquid dinner for the next couple of days and see if that makes a difference. (I can't eat liquid lunch on weekdays every day, I would be too jealous of my work friends eating real food). Wish me luck!

QUESTION: What Foods Can You No Longer 'Stomach'?
Sunshyne068 replied to HelloGoodbye's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ive been banded for 16 mons and up until my last fill (last month) I could eat anything and everything I wanted .... well NOW I can't really eat doughy breads. I can eat crackers and toast, but not doughy breads. And french fries are a chore because if I dont chew them enough then I have a problem. Oh and I cant really eat cake now unless I take SUPER TEENY TINY BITES ... sigh. AND suprisingly I have a slight intolerance to milk now that I didn't have before, it irriates my stomach/digestion now .... sigh. -
Good to know as I'll be trying to get pregnant soon!

With so many things to think about on this lap band journey, I feel like I've forgotten some of the rules that could be leading me to more weight loss. One commenter on my last post brought it to my attention that I need to make sure I get my daily protein amount in ... a rule I forgot about. And it makes me wonder, what other rules am I neglecting? 1. eat only 1 cup of food 2. eat all of your protein first, then veggies, then carbs 3. don't drink with your meals 4. get in your required XX grams of protein per day 5. take your multi vitamin supplments 6. dont eat within 2 hours of laying down All of these rules Ive totally disregarded at one point or another, on multiple occasions and with some frequency. Well for the past 3 days I've met my protein requirement. I got a fill on Thursday and I'm down 3 lbs ... I guess they really do tell us all of this stuff for a reason.

Francine welcome to your journey!!!! Yes these are a (not all inclusive list) of rules that we need to follow to be successful with this tool. If you dont follow them (like I havent been) then you wont see as much success as others. Im beating myself up about it now, as I'm over a year out and Ive wasted so much time.

Eating like normal
Sunshyne068 replied to ANewMe428's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sometimes its takes 2 weeks OR MORE before you actually feel the effects of a fill - i know it sounds crazy but its true ... you go on eating whatever you want then one day out of nowhere you realize you have more restriction. search the threads and you will see tons of posts about it. -
Sore throat result of being too tight?
Sunshyne068 replied to seeme1954's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
33 lbs since oct is an awesome weight loss actually. and if youre having chronic sore throat its probably due to some reflux and the vomitting. my doc prescribed an acid reducer for that but if youre vomitting you should call to see if you need a slight unfill. -
I dont really "track" my protein with any consistency. Now I do put everything I eat in MyFitnessPal so it does get tracked techincally, but I dont look at the protein number usually just the calories. I'll start looking at the protein figures I think Im supposed to have between 60-80 grams a day. Let me go back and see how many times Ive met my goal in the past 2 weeks. Thanks so much for the tip!

Hello all, I figured I needed to start a blog to try and keep myself accountable for my goal of "wedding weight loss" in the next 5 months. That assumption comes from the fact that teh last time I actually set a weight loss goal (going on a cruise) I posted about it on this website regularly, and I accomplished my goal and I had people cheering me on. So fast forward to now - I have been banded for 14 months, I have lost about 25 lbs (but more inches and toning) and I am getting married this October. I really expected to have greater weight loss at this point (maybe 50 lbs or so) but I know that everyone's journey is different. I have a realize band (11cc) and I think I have about 4.75 cc in my band. I get regular fills/Dr Visits to monitor my progress .... I am not on any real "diet" or nutrition regimine. I eat what I want, when I want (probably the reason for my extremely slow weight loss). I try to eat not more than 1.5 cups of food per meal, and I don't snack between meals unless I'm eating some fresh fruit. I am meeting with my surgeon's nutrition counselor in a few months (yea, she has a waiting list - SIGH) and hopefully I'll have some more guidance. What I like to do is eat noting solid before 11am, and TRY not to eat anything solid after 8pm. I also want to try and limit my carbs (atkins worked for me in the past - lost 80 lbs, but gained back 40 over a few yrs) but I havent found the will power to do it yet. With trying on wedding dresses and going to fittings, I really just want to lose a few more pounds before our wedding in October (Las Vegas) but we are actually having a large local wedding in May and I want to look my best. ALSO as a side note, I really want to get some of this weight down because me and the future husband want to have a baby and fertility is very much linked to having a healthy weight, so I just have soooooooooo many reasons why I need to get my body together in 2013. Thank you for coming on this journey with me.

Always feel hungry - can anyone help?
Sunshyne068 replied to NJshoregirl♥'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Im in the same boat ... just in general not because of pregnancy. I feel hungry within 2 hrs of eating, but I know I dont need a fill bc when I do eat, I can only comfortably eat 1-1.5 cups of food and if I eat more I PB. I eat proteins and I eat healthy but I still get hungry 2 hrs after eating and I feel like Im starving. I'll try the fiber thing. I know I could use more of that. -
i have to take a very deep breath followed by a deep sigh, thats my sign to stop.

You look AMAZING and like 5 yrs younger! congrats to a healthier you! -
Yea i have 4cc in a 11cc band and im pretty darn tight.

I went for a fill yesterday since I dont have much "restriction" and i told my doctor that since surgery Ive had some issues with acid reflux, which has never been an issue before. well he told me that once i reach the green zone (which will probably require more fill) my acid reflux will be under control. has anyone heard of this before? because i was under the impression that aicd reflux may be a symptom of a too tight band, not one that needs more fill. A little more detail - I have never thrown up with my band, only had 1 stuck episode the day after a fill, and I rarely have any sliming or PB. I have no intolerance to bread, rice, Pasta, etc and I can eat about 1.5 cups of food, sometimes more, per meal. So I agree that I am not at the green zone and I need more fill to acheive my weight loss goals, but I just wanted to ask if anyone else had heard about the acid reflux going away with more fill? If that's true, I'll be so happy!
-
well maybe there is hope for me yet. I never had acide reflux prior to the band, but maybe this series of adjustments will get me to the right point.
