congrats and welcome to the club!!!!

I can eat half salad and half sandwich and feel full .... BUT I'm hungry 2 hrs later. I've only had 1 fill and believe I need a few more to reach the green zone. Ive been told you shouldnt be hungry that soon, and the green zone allows you to feel full for 4 hrs between meals without the need to snack.

This No Drinks During And 30 Minute B4 & After Meal Rule Is Harder Than I Thought
Sunshyne068 replied to Laney5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i sit my drinks very far away from me when Im dining out. And if Im at home I just dont have a drink prepared with my meal. Then I literally count down 30-60 mins after Im done before I slowly sip, then gulp water LOL -
You're literally telling my story. I'm 5'10 and weighed 260 when I got my surgery approved. I opted for the band over RNY or GS because I didnt want to have uncontrollable weightloss. I have been large all of my life and I think that 200 lbs is still a healthy weight for me. Doc told me that I would get down to 130 if I got RNY. I feel that I would be too skinny and sickly looking. I think it's all personal preference though ... if you're not comfortable with only losing 60 lbs, then you do have other options - you can get a more aggressive surgery, or you can diet and work your azz off with the band and shoot for 75-80 lbs lost too. Im shooting to get down to 190 so that I can least say I'm in "onederland"

Im turning to fresh fruit for my sweet cravings .... seedless grapes, bananas, pears, they are very good. Even sugar free pudding or VitaTops .... they have both Protein and Fiber. I also have some protein pudding that I mix with cold Water when Im at work. 12g protein and they are chocolate, vanilla, and cheesecake flavored .... it hits the spot.

Let me know if that works .... I have 3.5 in an 11cc band.
-
akstinnet - that is wonderful!!!!! How much exercise did yuo do weekly to help you along the way? And how long did it take you to get to the "green zone?" how many fills/ccs in band? Im so very proud of you and your story is motivating me!

Free Lap Band On April 30, And I Am Saying No.
Sunshyne068 replied to Mastodon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I commend you for recognizing that you don't want the lapband, and that you arent ready commit to a new ilfestyle and way of eating and living. A lot of people get the band and are very disappointed when things don't go their way. You are saving yourself some heartache in the longrun. At only 27 and being a former power lifter, Im sure you can get back on track. Good luck with your operation and weightloss. Share some exercise tips on your journey -

when you moved to the new state did you fly there? i heard that flying (change in altitude) can distort the band tightness. -
Going Through Some Depression And Regret
Sunshyne068 replied to Boniluuu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Attend support group meetings in your area and remember that it gets easier as time goes on. The scale will make you happy again I promise. -
My resting metabolism is 1980 calories .... I dont eat that or i would stay the same weight. My doctor told me to eat 1000 calories a day.

Lapband Is Not For Everybody
Sunshyne068 replied to marielalora's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mjv congrats on the baby!!! I heard that losing weight boosts fertility. Im not "trying" ti have a kid but when I start I don't want addiitonal obstacles holding us back! Congrats again!!!! And I agree, the lapband isnt for everyone. I know several people who werent successful for several reasons - they kept the same old eating habits; they didnt follow up with their surgeon for fills and maintenance; they didnt exercise; I am a newly banded individual but I think It will work for me. Im learning so much on these boards and from my doc, I have a team in place wanting to see me succeed. -
So .... I got a realize band on 3/9 .... lost some weight right after surgery when I could barely drink liquids daily ..... once I got on solid food all that weightloss came back .... I got a fil on 4/12 .... AND .... the scale is back down this morning!!!! im so excited!!!

I'm Beginning To Get Worried!
Sunshyne068 replied to chriskatsmi7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I doubt you have any complication or did any serious damage to your band. You are probably hungrier because the swelling from surgery is going down so you have more of an appetite. You do need to focus on protein shakes, water, and vitamins before food, and make sure you are eating watery soups and soft cereals or oatmeal. The importance of the post-op diet stages is to let your body heal. Be careful and good luck. -
Anyone Have Trouble Eating Breakfast?

Not Sure What I'm Doing Wrong
Sunshyne068 replied to fat2skinnychic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Im almost 6 weeks out and I lost 3 lbs from the pre-op diet ... and maybe 2-4 lbs since surgery. Trust me, as long as the scale is going down youre doing something right. It may take you a few more fills to get to the "green zone" I just had my 1st fill yesterday .... I hear it takes a bit to get to that sweet spot where you're losing 2 lbs a week consistently. -
great news! im excited for you and i hope to be in your shoes one day!

Today Is My First Adjustment....what Can I Expect?
Sunshyne068 replied to tammyg1969's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc put me on 2 days of liquid. Im kinda nervous to eat solids anyway ... I can feel a little more retsriction now and I dont want anything to get stuck.
