Congrats to you on your weight loss! You are doing wonderful and it shows that the band works when you work with it! What a great compliment from your surgeon also to be asked to be in a commercial.

I have been using that site since solids. Just tried the chicken pot pie. The family even loved it, it was so good!

Congrats on your band! That is very cool that your Dr went in through the belly button and you only had 1 insicion. I have 4 but they are small now and barely noticable. enjoy your purees! -
CVS Pharmacy carries the liquid acetaminophen, it is the adult strength, cherry flavor, their brand. Some stores carry it in the store if you are lucky or you can order it online. Also look for Tylenol Sore Throat. The only active ingredient in it is 500 Mg of acetaminophen per dose. Good luck!

Coming Up On Three Years ...

Congrats on your success so far! Thanks for posting, you give us newbies something to look forward to! -
I have degenerative disc disease too. My lower back is where I have the most pain. Even after 3 epidural cortizone injections I was still in pain. However, my spinal surgeon said the exact opposite. He did state that it wasn't ever going to get better, but by losing weight it will relieve some of the pressure off the disc and help some with the pain. I was banded March 7th and I am down 40lbs so far. I am a lot more active now, so my back does flare up more than usual. But I am not taking any more narcotic pain killers any more though because it is not as painful as before. Tylenol is usually enough to take the pain away now.

I don't feel it move but some days it is really sore and I don't feel it until I bend over. Last night was one of those times. It was so painful. I just figured it's cause I got a fill on Monday and it was normal.

You can also try wellesse.com. They sell liquid vitamins for bariatric patients. I am currently taking them and they don't taste bad at all. I tried the bariatric advantage vita band and they were horrible tasting. I cringed every time it was time to take them. -
I had the same problem with breathing right after surgery, it was so hard. My o2 was low so they made me take deep breaths and gave me some more oxygen for about 15 minutes after my procedure. I am amazed that your surgeon wanted you to eat eggs and toast already! I guess every surgeon is different. Glad everything went well for you, you are on the road to recovery and better health!
-
I had the same problem with my oxygen too but they made me breathe deeply and put me on oxygen for about 10-15 minutes. The nurse told me she wouldn't let me go home if it was down. I think it is the medication they give to dry you out with. Hope it comes up soon.

Keep your eye on the prize!!! You can do it!!

I wasn't old to measure either but they want me to drink at least 3, 3-4oz shakes a day. I feel like I can barely get them down. I had my procedure on the 7th and have only been able to drink 2 a day. I have also been doing benefiber since yesterday since no BM either. Ugh.

I mean New Braunfels lol

New Braundels, TX banded yesterday March 7th.

I was self pay and they fixed my hernia at no extra cost. You just have to ask them. They told me it was law that if there was a hernia they had to fix it.

Just wanted to update everyone and thank you all for the "good lucks". Had the procedure this morning about 8. Feeling OK. Back is sore and shoulders are hurting but nothing too unbearable. I know tomorrow is going to be worse. Going to take it easy for the rest of today. I also had a hiatal hernia that was repaired as well so I am expecting even more pain. Good luck to those that had there procedure today as well and to those that have it coming later this week,
-
I most definitely will as soon as I feel up to it. Just making sure I have everything prepared for tomorrow when I get home right now and trying hard not to think about it heehee. I don't want to get worked up and chicken out last minute. I'd be lying if I said the thought hasn't crossed my mind. Just seems so surreal now that the day is finally going to be here.
-
Tomorrow is my band day!!! I have to be there at 6:30am. I am both excited and nervous. Reading all of your experiences on here has really helped though and I feel I am as prepared as I ever will be.

So glad to hear that every one did well today with their procedures! Good luck to every one!

I started on the 22nd. You are one of the lucky ones!!! I was dying the 1st couple of days but better now. I keep my eye on the prize!! Yes, I am useing the true results shakes, the nutritionist there said that he would prefer me use their shakes or Bariatric Advantage brand because they have the fiber to keep every thing moving. So far the only one I like is the strawberry and I have to add ice to it. I did order some small packets of the bariatric advantage brand to try them out. I also ordered the vitamins and calcium from there too.
-
I am down 10 pounds!!! But mine is far more strict than yours. I am only allowed 4 shakes a day and a small chicken breast or piece of lean meat if I really need something to chew on. The 1st couple of days was hard but oddly enough it has gotten better. I have an EGD this Thursday, he wants to make sure my hernia hasn't gotten worse from 2 yrs ago. I started this process before but found out I was expecting half way through it. I can't wait to get banded now!!!
-
Laralen, we are band buddies! I have my surgery on March 7th with Dr Wright in SA too!

The nutritionist where I go said that some of the patients pour a soda over ice in a cup and can drink it with no problems vs drinking directly out of the can or bottle. This allows some of the carbonation to escape a little.
