Grr, walked out of a doctors office, 2nd time its happened, first one signed in, dr just takes door closest to her. waited 45 mins. hubs said we are out of here.

1st time, my apt was at 8, was finally seen at 9ish, I had one foot out the door. Same thing this time apt at 1, it was 1:45, my hubby said go check at counter, I asked if dr. was already seeing patients and they said yes. I'm like I'm the first one that signs in, I said this is the second time this has happened, I'm not waiting ,my insurance better not be charged. I drove 5 minutes to my regular dr. who took me in, waiting 10 minutes , in a room, got my results that I was supposed to get from other dr, plus meds for a sinus infection. I will reschedule but when it's convenient for me!

Really sorry that happened and while I am not sure it is defendable, I can tell you that every surgeon I have ever been to (bariatric, orthopedic, etc.) ALWAYS run that behind. It is very frustrating. I think they book appts too close together and then have one emergency or one delay in making rounds and it all goes to hell. It is possible the other person had an emergency - though perhaps not. One time I got completely forgotten at an ob/gyn office and after an hour finally got dressed and went out the door. They said OOPS - went in the wrong room. I waited 3 hours on my orthopedic surgeon one time! THREE HOURS! Seriously? AND that was to see a PA! My last bariatric surgery appt was 1 hour and 45 minutes after my scheduled appt and I was the first appt of the day. Like you, I will probably see my endocrinologist for review of my tests and only follow up with surgeon once per year as required.

Daisee68, I agree and understand that, but all I saw was that the dr. tends to choose whatever door is closest to her at the time she comes out of her office. And there is no apology. Apparently everyone is used to the dr. doing this. I don't have the time. I consider myself very lucky I have a regular doctor that has an open door policy for regular patients.

Mind Tricks, when I look in the mirror, I look and feel fat, but when I look in the mirror with someone else, I see myself loooking through their eyes.

Holidays over time to get back to it, and I have come to realize it's not the extra weight that makes me feel bad, its the guilt. Crazy mind ..

It's from our upbringing about weight, it's listening to society's idea of the perfect weight, and somehow in all that, our mind tries to fit in our lives into those molds, and it doesn't work and we know it doesn't work, but we still try. It's hard to change a lifetime of thought, but we MUST try for our own well being and sanity!.

I finally went over the line, the cholesteral line that is,. dr says meds and diet, but I've been on a diet since lapband!! grr

After I was sleeved, my cholesterol went waaaaay up. My doctor said it was probably because I was getting too much of my protein from peanut butter, cheese, sausage, and bacon. Oh snap! So, I have been focusing on fish and chicken and expect the numbers to be down next time. Also, two years out< i am still on BP meds. Doc said that was because I am post-stroke and that I may never get off the BP meds. Not the result I wanted, but my overall health is far better than it has been for decades. Just think of your meds as "better living through chemistry."
-
That is definitely what has happened to me then, because I lived on cheese/peanut butter. I was off my bp meds for a few months but had to get back on them, lower dose but still. It had been my aim to get off of everything. I also told by someone that once you start cholesterol meds (statins) if affects your liver and everything else! I got enough problems. Thank goodness I have a cardio appt next week. When both my parents died 5/8 years ago, of heart problems, I went to cardio, to follow up preventative, luckily everything looked good at that time, trying to keep fit. thanks for everyone's words, just part of the journey
