I'm sorry you are going through this. Yes, please call your doctor. Sorry I can't offer any other advice. -
Newbie Here researching this procedure so that I can have this procedure done.

Welcome. I understand only telling immediate family members, I did the same. -
Nothing helps, although manufacturers are eager to sell their products and tout them as effective. Shampoos can't help because the problem is in the body. It is the body's reaction to the severe changes brought about by the surgery. Fortunately, it is a relatively short term effect.

I agree completely with Lurpa. Less is better.

I have a great fear of needles as a result of my miniscule veins, too. To minimize the pain, I always forbid them from "fishing" around for the vein once the needle is under my skin. At the hospital, they took a look at my lack of veins, listened to my requirement and gave me a local anesthetic. Problem solved. Once you have chosen a doctor, ask in advance if they will do that for you. It doesn't seem possible to put the IV in after you are out because the drug to put you out is given through the IV.

You are not alone. I think almost everyone worries about the things that worry you. Here are some suggestions. 1. Take the "prep work" one step at a time. It seems like a lot, but you have a lot of time in which to do it. Just make sure that if you have to have six months of supervision by a pcp, you start that as soon as possible. 2. We all have or had food addiction. If you have nutrition counseling in the months before the surgery, pay attention and follow the rules. In addition to the required counseling, I went to Weight Watchers and lost a lot of weight before surgery. There is nothing to give you confidence like success! 3. I committed to a personal trainer two times a week in addition to classes at my local recreation center. I need scheduled times for exercise to get me to do it.

I don't know but it might be wise to ask your doctor.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.

I think you have the right idea. Returning with a snide comment isn't helpful for you or the other person. It elevates the tension for you, distracts you from enjoying your success and may make you look petty to those around you. In my opinion, someone who makes comments like hers usually doesn't intend to be mean or to diminish your success. The person who said that may simply be clueless as to how she sounds. Does she make other tactless remarks to people sometimes? Coming back at her with a snappy retort may hurt her but won't keep her from being clueless in the future.

3 weeks out...at a stall!

If you want to feel not alone, search this site for the word stall. -
Congratulations on your first day of exercise! I am in a water aerobics class at my local recreation center and have a personal trainer two times a week. I also use a treadmill at home. There are different reasons I am motivated to do each activity. The aerobics class is fun because it is easy on the joints and because, over time, my classmates have become my friends. The personal trainer is a commitment I keep every time because, not only is it good for me, but my being there or not makes a difference in another person's livelihood. I added the treadmill recently because I am going on a hiking trip to British Columbia, Canada, and want to make the most of the experience. I suggest that, if nothing else, you set a goal that will motivate you, a goal other than losing weight, such as mine for being able to hike exciting trails on my trip to Canada.

Anxiety is normal. Remind yourself of why you need the surgery. I had looming health issues. After surgery, my health issues have been resolved and all of my medical test results are within the normal range. Focus on your reasons.
-
You've been through a tough time all right. I haven't had that experience and haven't heard of it on this board, so I have no words of wisdom. Like you, I hope it stays away. Good luck.

At the appointment with the surgeon you will be told what is needed in the way of medical tests, specialist consultations, and physical and nutritional education. That will be your roadmap up until the surgery itself. The physical and nutritional education give you your roadmaps for pre and post op diets and exercise. You are on your way! My nutritionist said the body won't process more than about 20-25 grams of Protein at a time and that drinks with more protein don't provide any additional benefit. Also, I wouldn't go crazy buying lots of protein supplements. You may be able to get most of your protein from real food after a relatively short period of time.
-
My doctor put us all on a diet of 60 grams of protein, regardless of height.

What foods can you eat?
notime replied to BabyGirl2730's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can eat any food without problem. -
Your concerns are understandable. I hope you continue to ponder the pros and cons of the surgery and make the best decision for you. Near as I can tell, we all had some fear before surgery but decided the benefits were worth the risks. Also, I want to point out something that I'm sure you already know: you may not currently be suffering the health consequences of being overweight, but the future is not so rosy. Good luck to you in making your decision.

I'm 5'5 and the nutritionist said 60 grams of protein per day. She also said we should wean ourselves from protein drinks by four months and get all our protein from regular food with a very occasional protein drink.
-
My nutritionist also said grits were fine.

Sliming: Ate Too Much?...or Ate Too Fast?
notime replied to Babysteppin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That has happened to me when I ate too much. It didn't take more than a couple of those episodes before I learned to never eat too much. I can eat fast with no repercussions. -
Feeling pins & needles in legs when touched
notime replied to Pixie Dust's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't seen anyone else mention this. I suggest calling the surgeon's office to ask about it. -
I have no regrets. There was a moment, literally only a moment, when I got home after the surgery and said to myself, "I did something permanent to my body. What have I done?" Then it was gone. Never again have I had reason to question what I did and I am very pleased that I did it.

Pre-Op Diet struggles
notime replied to laurasjourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It can seem difficult, but remind yourself this period is nothing compared to the rest of your life. It is only a blip on your timeline. You can do this! You can do anything for only a blip. -
