    Have you tried Jello?

    Walking

Is it possible you are dehydrated? That could make you tired and weak. If you are dehydrated and can't get a lot more fluids in right away, you need to call your doctor. It may mean a trip to the emergency room for an IV.

    Sleeping possition

I couldn't sleep on my stomach for about a week, but was exhausted from the surgery, so I did fall to sleep.
  5. You're right. I wasn't able to find anything on this when I was researching the sleeve either.

Tuna fish or chicken salad during pureed stage...

Watch out for those sauces. They should be nonfat or lowfat.
  9. You have hit the nail on the head. Get to your doctor and get something going to stop this cycle.

Tuna fish or chicken salad during pureed stage...

My nutritionist recommended tuna and chicken salads for the pureed staged. If you use canned or pouched products, she said there was no need to puree them and suggested using lowfat mayo. The nonfat chicken broth and nonfat Greek yogurt ideas of southernsoul's sound great.
  11. It is interesting that the nausea has occurred this far out from surgery. It may have absolutely nothing to do with the surgery. Hydration is so very important and vomiting makes it difficult to stay hydrated, It is time to consult your doctor.
  12. There are many posts confirming that this is normal. You will be through the rough patch in no time at all. Concentrate on getting those fluids in, though. You might try something warm, such as chicken broth. That makes hydration easier for many people.

    New Here....

I have been on this site for a long time and most people say they only regret not having done this sooner. Only a few have posted about other regrets. I suggest you search the site for "regrets." The search box is in the upper right corner.
  14. I have had hypothyroidism for years including many years pre-surgery. It took about 4 years to get my thyroid medication right. Like you, my blood work results were up one time and down the next. That has been the experience of others I know, too. So there is nothing unusual about that. I have not needed a higher dose after the surgery. Good luck. Your doctor will find the right level.

    I HATE working out!

I have joined and quit gyms a number of times in the past, but hated working out and just couldn't get myself to stick with a workout commitment. Try using a personal trainer. I have one I see two times a week. It has the advantage of being a regular appointment with someone whose livelihood in part depends on me. That keeps me going. Three times a week I participate in deep water aerobics. It is demanding, but I love getting into that water. Good luck.

    eating between meals

I take my calcium, multivitamin, iron and B-12 during the day, using them as snacks.
  17. The hospital provided all I needed including slippers, the backwards gown described by Mokee as a substitute for a robe, toothbrush and paste, etc. Ask this question at the surgeon's office. They should have the answer based on what your hospital provides or doesn't provide..
  18. Ignore the ads for body wraps and save your money. Compression garments help with your appearance only while you are wearing them and they work by redistributing the excess skin.

    suggestions?

My husband was with me in the hospital and afterwards but I did not actually need him in the hospital. I slept almost all the time and the staff helped me with anything I needed. In your situation, I would try to do what Susan said.

Day 17, first post op appt

You could try saying you are on a strict doctor supervised diet and would appreciate their support. Then, if they push the food, just say "No thank you." You shouldn't have to pretend you are eating/drinking and you shouldn't have to divulge your medical situation. Just be consistent. It is odd you aren't able to eat eggs. I have been on this board for more than 20 months and no one has said eggs are forbidden. From what I can tell, the other nutritionists including mine have said eggs in any form are acceptable at that stage. Oh well.

    Mashes potatoes

My nutritionist said that was fine. Check with yours. Thin it with some milk and you will get some protein out of it, too.

    Liquids

Mine count, too. There are lots of foods that my doctor considers both protein and fluids.

    Anxiety and surgery

Apparently you have to go along with the program to get the surgery. Make the most of your opportunity to meet with a counselor.
  25. It depends on the insurance company and the specific policy you have. Call your insurance company and ask them. Also ask if there is a specific portion of your policy that addresses your situation. If so ask what the section/s is/are. If your insurance policy guidelines are online, look up that section and check it out. If it is not online, request that they send you the relevant section/s and then check it out. Good luck.
