    Almost Here...

I'm very glad everyone seems to have come through this experience without serious negative consequence. My first post-op check in: --Pain has been minimal --I was unable to pass the solution for the scans to determine if I was leakfree. I tried again later and was declared leakfree! --Three days out from surgery, I am hydrating and getting some Proteins in.
  2. We"re here. Check in as soon as you can. I leave for the hospital at 9. I'm east coast. Will check later. They gave me a patch to put behind my ear. It is supposed to keep me from throwing up. It is making me nauseous.
  3. We are here to support you. Mothers don't always know what's best for us and they have a way of getting to us.
  4. If you can't use them and can't sell them, try taking it to a nutrition store. They won't be able to sell them, but maybe some of the staff would be happy to get some for free. Or put it on Freecycle or Craigslist for free.
  5. I'm scheduled for 10 tomorrow and am surprised how calm I am. Last week I was in a panic; this week cool and calm. Best of luck to all of you. We will be just fine. It will be interesting to share our experiences after the fact.

    Struggling :(

What Writergirl said. Also, my nutritionist says any liquid, not just water, counts toward my 64 oz daily fluid goal.

    Almost Here...

The second guessing is tough. I stopped it by concentrating on the potential health problems I am trying to avoid. Haircut this past week and pedicure tomorrow-- I guess we all have the same way of preparing. Things in my pantry include: 2 types of Protein Powder from GNC; nonfat chicken broth; low fat tomato and mushroom cream Soup (I can strain the mushroom pieces out); nonfat milk and soy milk; no sugar added Carnation Instant Breakfast; no sugar jello; no sugar pudding; various flavorings for Water (I love plain water, but heard that some people find water metallic tasting after surgery); and Swiss Miss no sugar added chocolate. It's way too much for one week, but I imagine I can eat it later, too.

    Almost Here...

I am doing well. I got over my panic stage a week ago and now I am ready: post-op food in the pantry, supplements on hand, pain prescriptions filled. Met with the doctor yesterday for pre-op exam and I am at 249, 20 lbs lighter than when I started. Having read the descriptions of others' experiences, I am assuming my surgery will be a breeze with no pain or nausea afterwards. HAHA Let's get this thing done!

Over 60 and having the sleeve

I am 62 and will be having my surgery in three days on April 20, 2012. Two weeks ago I was terrified about the upcoming surgery, but reminded myself of the health benefits it would bring me and got over it. I am ready and looking beyond the surgery and any difficulties adjusting afterwards. You all are so inspiring. Thank you for being here.
  10. You will do well. You are not lazy. I am having surgery on the 23rd also. Until yesterday, I was afraid, too. I am having the surgery because of the health problems I will have if I don't. I concentrated on the health benefits of the surgery and let the rest of it go. Today I am not afraid. I found this to be a good place to get the support I need.
  11. Good to know I am not the only one.
  12. April 23rd. The last two weeks I have been terrified, but started thinking about the good that will come of the surgery, not the bad or hard stuff. Now I am ready.
  13. I am borderline diabetic and am trying to stave it off. My doctor assures me losing weight will work. I don't have any other health issues and I don't want them. Also, I am retired and want to travel and hike and camp and just generally improve my quality of life. I want to be able to go to the theater or a musical performance or anything else and not have to worry I won't fit into the seat. I want to be able to trim my toenails and tie my shoes without my husband's help. I want to be able to garden.
  14. I have told only 4 people, close family members. It's no one else's business. I'm presurgery and when I start losing and people ask me how I'm doing it I will tell them it is diet and exercise.
