Well, I ate too much and threw up. It was awful. I hope I remember it forever.

Oh No! Mcdonalds For Lunch?
notime replied to vampsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have started carrying a plastic fork and knife in my purse so that I can tear apart food like the tortilla wrap and just eat the parts I am allowed. It's probably a good idea to have a plate, knife and fork in your desk, locker or car, too. -
Congratulations to you, too, Joni. Exercise is my hangup as well. As soon as I am cleared for swimming, it is back to deep water aerobics for me and I need to start a more agressive walking regimen, too. I am so jealous of the people who say that once they started exercising regularly, they loved it. Maybe all of you can pester me into exercising.

Congratulations! I'm so glad everything is going well for you. Have a great time buying clothes for your trip.

Hurray, Greek yogurt. I had a cup this evening and it gave me the last protein and fluids for the day. Earlier today I had refried beans with cheese on top for breakfast and lunch and a small amount of chicken. I am never hungry. Do you think that part ends?

Thanks for the recipe!

My nutritionist said it wouldn't be like before the surgery. She said we should be going about once every couple of days and that the usual cause of constipation is inadequate fluids. Baby food prunes, decaf coffee, Benefiber, Fibercon and Liquafiber are my doctor's allowed "cures" for constipation. It sounds as though you are very busy. Are you allowed to swim yet? Going out to eat sounds wonderful. I am dreaming of eggplant parmesan at a great Italian restaurant nearby! I'm thinking I could eat a miniscule amount and bring the rest home for my husband and me to have the next day. He is so lucky I have a teeny tiny stomach!

Had A Break Down Today!
notime replied to mommyinneed's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was worried like that, too. I decided to concentrate on the reasons I was having the surgery and what the extra weight would mean in terms of life span and quality of life. Once I did that, it was clear there was no other option. I didn't worry anymore! -
Sometimes I drink hot chocolate (Swiss Miss no sugar added). I make it with milk rather than the water the directions say. That gives me 8 oz of liquid and a little protein--9 grams. Another favorite of mine is V-8 juice. It provides a different texture and taste and gives me some vegetable nutrients. Like you, I drink a lot of water.

Thank you, Kellie. I hope all of the mothers get some time off to enjoy their day. This time the celebration certainly won't be food based!

That part of the Affordable Care Act kicks in 2014. If the Supreme Court comes through, you will be golden.

Fage Greek yogurt counts as a liquid and has 23 protein grams per cup. It can be mixed with no sugar added fruit juice. I don't eat a cup at a time, but spread it out over the day.

I gradually cut down on my coffee consumption until I wasn't drinking any about three weeks before my surgery. Now three weeks post-op, I have not had any and will not ever have any. My nutritionist cautions not to have more than one cup of coffee or tea a day or risk getting stomach ulcers.

I'm glad the protein shakes are agreeing with you again.

My nutritionist has stressed that noodles, any kind of Pasta really, and bread and rice are off limit forever. She says they get into the stomach and swell, causing problems.

I am 62 and had my surgery April 23rd. I have had a good recovery and am very glad I had the surgery. The pre-op diet is bothersome, not difficult, and it is for only a short period of time. The in-hospital recovery from surgery was not too bad. I was in the hospital three days and the first two had their moments, but since then I have been fine. It was not at all as bad as I had imagined. Once I got home, I recovered very rapidly. The uncomfortable stuff is short term, the improvement in health is long term. Before the surgery, I had trepidations until I reminded myself why I was having it. In my case, I was borderline diabetic and was worried about that and the other health consequences of living as an obese person. Once I got that straight in my mind, my fears were gone. The people here will help you as you go through this. You can do this and will be glad you did. Welcome.

Joni, One thing I am eating is fake lasagna. Put some ricotta cheese on a small plate. use enough to get in some Proteins, maybe 1/4 to 1/2 a cup. Flatten it on the plate until it is about 1/2" or a little more thick. Put spaghetti sauce on top of it , not scads, but certainly enough to cover the ricotta. Put grated mozzarella and parmesan on top. Microwave until heated through. Enjoy. It counts as a liquid, but I chew it up just in case. It doesn't seem to fill me up. It is good, but I would get tired of it if I ate it three meals a day. Try a different kind of soup and just eat the broth from it. Are you eating very slowly? I don't think the yogurt and soup should make you full if you do it slowly.

In the 70s, and clear in Virginia Beach. My nutritionist says I should be off all Protein supplements by six months. I am already off them. Just can't take the taste and texture. I am going to make protein powder ice cream on Thursday or Friday though.

The tomato soup is an enigma. Seems as though you ought to be able to get down lots of it. I was surprised, but steamed seafood, including shrimp is allowed on my soft foods diet. The two shrimp were the largest quantity of food I've been able to eat so far. We are two weeks out!
-
Sorry about your tough day. Were you unable to eat more tomato soup? Hopefully, the nutritionist will be able to give you some good ideas. I had two shrimp today for dinner--steamed, with cocktail sauce and cut up into the tiniest pieces possible..

Thanks for this.

You've really been through it, Kellie. I admire your spirit.

Thanks for the recipe. It will be great to have something different and tasty!

Joni, I did some on-line research and found this recipe: 3 C. cold fat free milk 1 pkg. (4-serving size) Jell-O Vanilla Flavor Fat Free Sugar Free Instant Reduced Calorie Pudding & Pie Filling 1 8 oz. container plain low fat yogurt 1 C. crushed ice 1 medium banana, cut in chunks Blend it all up and drink it. If you don't like the consistency, let it stand a little while and it will get thicker. I also found a Fage site with recipes. http://www.fageusa.com/recipes/category/popular/1/ Here's one of them. Ingredients: 10.6 oz FAGE Yogurt 9.3 fl oz Orange and Passion Fruit Low Calorie Juice ½ Fresh Banana 2 oz Blueberries Preparation Directions: Blend all ingredients together in food processor. Serve very chilled and think of the summer.

Joni, I'm sorry you didn't like Fage and after all of my hyping it, too. In Greece, I was always served yogurt with honey and loved it that way. Now I don't get that luxury and I eat it either plain or with some natural fruit juice. I love the sour taste and I do not like Splenda or other fake sugars. I wonder what Splenda and blended up unsweetened fruit would do? It can also be served as a dollop on top of some Soups, such as butternut squash although, with our tiny stomachs, we wouldn't be able to eat any Soup and a dollop, too!!! When it comes down to it, I would be hard pressed to meet my liquid and Protein requirements without Fage. I will not go the dreaded Protein Drink route.
