Kellie, Your vacation sounds great to me, but I can understand the challenges. You certainly jumped right into life again after the surgery. I admire your spirit.

From what I've been reading here, it's different for everyone, but 10 days would have been fine for me and I'm 62.

My doctor said no to bread ever. I love bread, but am willing to give it up for the good results.

April 23--48 lbs., more than half my doctor's goal for me. Guess I'll surprise him!

I'll admit to being less than brilliant. A lot of posts in other places on the forum refer to NSV. What is NSV? I've lost more than half of what my doctor said was a realistic goal. I guess I should establish a better goal and surprise my doctor!

Personally, I believe that I wouldn't put off the surgery. If I didn't put it off and had the surgery now, I would worry until they put me under anesthesia. If I did put it off and had the surgery later, I would still worry until they put me under anesthesia. Having it now means less time to worry. Of course, it is not me.

Looking for VSG buddies in Hampton Roads VA

I'm in Virginia Beach and was sleeved on April 23, 2012 by Dr. Fontana. Who was your doctor? Have you gone to the BEWELL support group at Virginia Beach General Hospital? I find it very helpful. You can call the Bariatric Center at Norfolk General Hospital for details. BEWELL is open to all, no matter where they got their surgery done. -
I'm Scared That My Restriction It Too Tight...

My doctor told me no caffeine as it can cause ulcers. -
A few months before surgery my Vitamin D deficiency was found and treated with large doses of Vitamin D pills. After surgery, the doctor said I did not need to take my Vitamin D supplement and that we would see what my 6 month bloodwork results were and go from there. My multi-vitamin has some Vitamin D in it.

Getting Frustrated Help Please
notime replied to Furby036's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I really liked the Jay Robb pina colada mixed with strawberry, lime or orange Jello. Tastes great. I'm three and a half weeks out and now I get all of my Protein from food; just couldn't take those Protein drinks. -
I was nervous before my surgery, but listed the reasons for me to have it: early death, dealing with the horrendous complications of diabetes, no stamina, an inability and no desire to get out and do things. Once I had those listed, I again realized there was no alternative to getting the surgery and I was no longer nervous. Of course, your reasons for the surgery may be different and you must make up your mind about what is right for you, I just wanted to share my experience.

I had a total of three surgeries last month. Two were major surgeries, one of those was my sleeve. My primary care physician knew about the timing of them all and didn't tell me to space them out. I didn't feel overwhelmed and I am glad to have them behind me.

I went to Weight Watchers for my pre-op diet, but did not tell them I was having the surgery. Just didn't want to get into it with them. I planned to continue after surgery for the support of being around other people wanting to lose weight, but was chastised for losing too much weight too fast and once again thought the surgery was none of their business. It would be hard to use the Weight Watcher's diet and also get the protein we need without eating all the time. If you just want weight loss support and are willing to tell the staff or all those in your Weight Watcher's group about your situation, go for it.

Dogmom, I don't know how you can work like that! I can't believe you can eat all of those breads. I'm going to talk to my nutritionists about why they say not to. It seems to me they have an agenda of telling us the healthiest way to eat, not what our new stomachs will take. I guess that's good, but it is also good to know what you can do when in a situation with no good options.

Thanks for the help. I like the decaf idea, iced tea was always one of my favorites before.

I Ate, Cried And Threw Up All Within 5 Minutes
notime replied to chitowngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I vomited two days ago. I had eaten too much without realizing it, but have a plan to take care of it. -
I'm getting the protein in, but for some reason I am having trouble with the fluids. I used to love ice water, but now not so much. Protein drinks are out of the question. Any suggestions?. Also, I can't get my ticker to update. Is anyone else having this problem?

Did You Or Are You Keeping Your Sleeve A Secret?
notime replied to letsdothis!!!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've told no one but immediate family and I'm happy with that decision. I figure it is no one else's business and I don't see that it is an appropriate topic for strangers or casual acquaintances. They probably don't have any interest and probably would wonder why I was telling them such personal information. -
Thyroid Problem Question
notime replied to futureskinnypants's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am hypothyroid and my doctor said nothing about it. The more weight I lose, the happier my doctors will be! -
I am very lucky not to have to deal with soft drink addiction. I haven't had one in years.

Back In The Hospital Again : (

Oh no! You've been through a lot. Good wishes and hugs coming your way. -
Oh no, Sheila. Well, I guess we're learning our limits.

I made two mistakes: not putting out in a plate the small amount I should eat and eating while at the computer. The result was that I unthinkingly ate more than I should have. I need to be more intentional about my eating and I will be. Nothing like experience.
