No problems for me and my progress appears to be similar to that of younger sleevers.

Your attitude towards the surgery is spot on.

When does the constipation stop?

From my experience, you can say goodbye to once a day movements. Every two to three days is my new norm. -
Did you call the doctor today?

Many people have weighed in on this, pun intended. They have offered lots of good advice that will most likely be helpful to you. Search for "stall." The search box is towards the upper right corner.

My 9 year old son just broke my ♥
notime replied to Bethzy143's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please don't have second thoughts because of what a nine year old thinks or says. Reassure him as best you can, but rely on the information you have gathered and the adult reasoning you have applied to the situation. Your health and the quality of life you will share with your son are at stake. Perhaps you can give him some jobs to do to help you prepare and some to do when you are home from the hospital. That will give him something concrete to focus on. -
There's a lot going on with you. No wonder you need help. It seems you should call the doctor about the nausea and vomiting. Perhaps he/she will be able to prescribe a different medication. You should also talk to the doctor about your thigh. As far as actions you can take (1) Really push the fluids. In addition to the water and broth, try sugar free popsicles, jello, nonfat no sugar or fruit added Greek yogurt, no sugar added hot chocolate (Swiss Miss makes some). (2) Don't worry too much about protein right now. You can try putting some, maybe half a scoop, of chocolate or vanilla protein powder in the hot chocolate. Do the best you can do on it, but don't stress. In a few days it will be easier to get the protein in. Check in with an update.

I hope this is resolved quickly. Please keep us updated on your situation. -
When were you able to lie on your side again?
notime replied to becslivinlife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slept on my side from night 1. Try putting a pillow beneath your stomach to support it. -
A year out and feeling frustrated

You may want to try Lil Miss Diva's jumpstart program. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/28139-the-basics-boot-camp/ -
My opinion is that any discharge should be reported to the doctor.

Eat as much yogurt as you want and need to supplement any other sources of protein and fluids to meet your requirements. Just make sure it is nonfat Greek yogurt and has no added sugar or fruit. When on liquids, I drank no protein drinks and got most of my protein from Greek yogurt. There was no specific limit on how much I could have at any one time. This was sanctioned by my nutritionist.

Mixing jello with protein powder?
notime replied to mirabelle's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I've done it. I used fruit flavored protein powder and mixed it with the jello powder, then made the jello. It didn't mix very well, but the taste was good. It was one of the few things with protein I could get into me. I didn't try mixing the jello in with a shake. Yuck, sounds terrible. -
It would be a good idea to call your surgeon.

From Overeating to Drinking All Meals?
notime replied to cmcrider's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My opinion is that it is not the pre-op diet getting to you but that you really haven't made up your mind about having the surgery. Good luck to you in making this decision. Please update us on how you are doing as this evolves. -
It took one day for BCBS Federal to approve mine. There have been similar stories of only a few days from others on here.

The dehydration came from the OP's post. The rest of my comment was directed to the OP, too.

Finally.....how long to get a date...?
notime replied to Mammecan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The date depends on the surgeon's schedule, time available in the operating room, how many people are queued up in front of you, etc. -
Congratulations on your success.

Please dont judge me but.....

Yes, I was cleared for eggs at seven days. -
When my doctor told me I had diabetes.

There are many reasons a person could be dizzy frequently. Some of these reasons are serious. Make sure you are getting your fluids in if you suspect dehydration and see your PCP to pinpoint the cause. We can't/shouldn't diagnose this.

My nutritionist limits fruit intake to two ounces a day. It needs to be fresh or canned or frozen with no sugar added. I don't have fruit every day, so I have more than that occasionally. I'm sure other nutritionists have other guidelines.

I had my surgery at 62. What a life changing experience! I hadn't realized how much my activities had been stymied by my excess weight. Now I do and I am exceedingly grateful that I had the opportunity for the surgery. Yes, I have changed my eating habits. Now I eat like I should have all along. Yes, I work out with a trainer, do deep water aerobics and hike. Now I'm able to go, go, go doing the things I didn't have energy to do before. I don't see any of the changes as negative, only positive. I took the perspective that this was my second chance, I had taken the wrong road the first time around and the surgery was my reset button. I have made this work for me by normalizing the life changes. What I eat and the exercise I get are my new normal as are the wonderful medical test results and the active lifestyle.

The experiences of people on this board are all over the place regarding going back to work. It definitely depends on the physicality of the work you do, your condition going into surgery, any complications encountered and other factors. Some have had surgery on Friday and returned to work on Monday. Others take six weeks or more. Some start back with abbreviated schedules. It seems to me that most people have reported being off two to three weeks.
