  1. I would think most people wouldn't want to talk about it, would consider it tmi. Most people who are "friends" or acquaintances really just don't care that much about us. Also, It is distracting to talk about it in the workplace and wastes time that should be spent working.

    Almost Here...

I've been in a stall and am still at my 48 pounds of weight lost. On the other hand, 48 pounds is a victory in itself! The kicker is that I upped my exercise routine this week because of the doctor's clearance. I know the stall will end and the weight loss will begin again. I refuse to be discouraged.
  3. You will most likely be able to take care of yourself, but the children may be another matter. Is there any possibility of getting someone to help with them. On the other hand, some people on this board have taken care of themselves and their children without help. It really depends on your own surgery experience and how well the children can help take care of themselves/each other.

Wow! You're doing so well. Planning activities like that would make me tired! I've taken the lava hike and it is a challenge because of the heat as well as the distance. I'm amazed at what all of you can do. It's very inspiring. What a shame about your pain. I haven't had any on the left side. Could it be from all the exercise you have been getting? How about calling your doctor on Monday to see what he/she says. Like you, I am surprised at how much easier everything is after losing a few pounds. So many more things are possible now, for example, one of my mini-goals was to be able to put on my own socks and tie my shoes. I wore slip-on shoes whenever my husband wasn't around to help me. Now I can do it myself! I'm meeting lots of my other mini-goals, too. I improve my walking distance every day and have started deep Water aerobics. I'm enjoying exercise more than ever before and am looking around for other activities.

    Hiding The Tears

Is it possible to go to the person who did your psych exam or to a psychologist? He/she may be able to help you figure out what is happening.
  7. Those are good points. Spreading it out throughout the day ought to work.
  8. What about switching to fat free milk? They taste the same to me. Juices have a lot of calories. My nutritionist said to cut them with an equal amount of water.

    Saying Goodbye

I also love Fage. It has 23 grams of protein in a cup and counts as a fluid, too.!
  10. I was told to definitely get the 64 oz of fluids so I wouldn't become dehydrated. With dehydration comes a trip to the hospital for an IV.

    Ugh Guilty... But Why?

I had edema and used water pills, but the surgeon took me off them the day of surgery and said I didn't need them any more. I was sleeved April 23rd and have had no swelling at all since then.
  13. Try Greek yogurt-no added sugar no fruit. You can also try jello or pudding with some protein powder mixed in, for example, chocolate protein powder in chocolate pudding.
  14. I don't do protein drinks, but get all of my protein from food. One high protein food I eat is Fage Greek yogurt. It tastes like sour cream and has 23 grams of protein per cup. It also counts as a fluid.
  15. I know the nutritionists vary in what they say. My nutritionist said your body can't process any more than 25 grams of protein at a time. She said not to count anything more than the 25 grams.
  16. I'm getting all my Protein from food, no Protein powder. My biggest snack food is Fage Greek yogurt. It has 23 grams of protein per cup and counts as Fluid, too. It tastes like a rich sour cream.
  17. My caloric intake is the same or less than yours. My nutritionist has said to keep it below 800 and specifically said my intake is fine.

Oh, no! I'm sorry about your experience. Perhaps it was just one ingredient that caused the problems? I saw my doctor today, too, and he said the same things yours did. He also cleared me for swimming and all other physical activity. Now I can get my exercise program in full swing. I go back to the doctor in two months. When is your next check-up?

You can also take Gas X Thin Strips. They melt in your mouth.
  21. The sticks were my biggest concern going into surgery. I have no veins. Fortunately, they were always able to find someone who was very good at it and located veins in my hands.
  22. I know how you feel. The first week diet was worse than the pre op diet. Hang in until Saturday; it definitely gets better then.
