It's in grocery stores in my area.

Checking in. I'm in another stall, but refuse to be concerned. My doctor okayed full exercise and it looks as though I need to step it up. I have to eat throughout the day to get in the 60 grams of Protein. Is anyone else doing that? The nutritionist had said three tiny meals a day and two Snacks, but discouraged Protein Drinks or Protein Bars. She also said to get about 90 grams of carbohydrates and 22 grams of fat. I haven't been counting carbs or fats yet because I know I am not getting enough of them. Enough whining. How is everyone else doing?

I use plain Greek Fage (pronounced Fa-yeh) yogurt. It tastes like sour cream, so some people don't like it, but it is right up my alley. For one cup, it has 9 grams of carbs, all from natural sugar (no added sugar). It also has 23 grams of protein!!! In addition to eating it plain, sometimes I use it on a little bit of baked potato, a little bit of taco filling or anything else that screams out for sour cream. The problem with the yogurts you probably are looking at is the fruit and sugars added.

Remember all of the reasons you need the surgery. -
Have U Ever Forgot To Sip & Took A Gulp?

I can, too. I don't really understand why it would be necessary to just take sips other than in the first couple of weeks. -
Quick Question About Tattoos

Talk to your doctor's office before getting it. You don't want to jeopardize the surgery for any reason. -
I started walking as soon as I got home from the hospital and increased the distance every day. I waited on moderate/heavy exercise until my doctor cleared me at four weeks.

jailynn there is a way to make corrections to a post you have made. I would be lost without it. At the bottom of your post, next to MultiQuote, is a faint outline of the word edit. Click on that and you will be able to make changes to your post even after publishing it. -

Hope you are out soon.

Congratulations, Kellie! What a feeling that must be. Here's hoping the next 69 come off fast.

That makes a lot of sense. I'm excited to think I won't have to go to the large stores to get clothes.

I have been sleeved for six weeks and am having trouble getting through a full day without being totally exhausted. Is this exhaustion normal or could it be my diet. My diet consists of at least 64 oz fluids, 60 grams protein, 600-700 calories. I take 2 children's vitamins daily, calcium, B12. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

I'm off my stall - two more pounds!

What You Wish You Knew Before The Sleeve
notime replied to justmeandmysleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, I am really pleased about my experience as you will tell from my comments. I felt very prepared for the surgery. I was given only two weeks notice of the surgery because I filled the spot of someone else, but I was ready. My biggest surprise was how quickly I recovered from the surgery. I didn't find the pre-op diet to be onerous. Considering the changes expected as a result of the surgery, it is a small price to pay. The post-op diet was a little harder, maybe because I just wanted to get on with my new life. On the pre- and post-op diets, I had trouble getting the Protein in, but I did do it. Once on a regular diet, I had trouble getting the fluids in, but I made myself do it because there was no way I was going to have to get an IV. -
Thank you! Thank you! I would never have guessed some of those.

I like Fage greek yogurt at 23 grams protein for 1 cup. It tastes like sour cream. When I was on the liquid and soft foods diets it saved me from having to drink protein drinks.

I was careful about who I told, too: husband, daughters, sisters. That's it. After surgery, my daughters told their husbands. I have not told my mother yet. I can tell the difference in my face. My breasts fit into my bras now; I hadn't realized that they didn't before! Of course, my pants are large on me. Other than those, I haven't noticed any differences.

I hope you're right about the sizes. As you said, the alternative is not a pretty picture. Hooray on the progress!

It's good to hear from you, Naomi and Joni. The recipe sounds delicious, Naomi and your schedule sounds like a killer. Joni, I'm very glad your throat problems are over. I have a question for all of you. I keep reading posts that talk about the poster's current weight and clothing size. How does someone who weighs 145 fit into small clothing, or 160 fit into size 8 or 10? Are these people squeezing into clothes that are too small for them or have clothing sizes grown to accomodate our larger and larger population and I am so out of date I haven't realized it?
-
Thanks, Kellie and Joni. By the way, my name is Janet. Joni, So sorry about your throat. Is it possible it is a regular old sore throat? Probably not because of the bitter burning sensation, but I thought I'd put my two cents in. I bet the weight will come off all of a sudden. Don't despair. It will happen.

2 Very Different Vsg Philosophies -- What's Yours?
notime replied to Fyrefly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard nothing about having shakes for that long. My nutritionist said I shouldn't be having shakes at all by the six month mark. I'm at six weeks and getting all my Protein from regular food and she is ecstatic about it. -
eggs (add cheese for more protein), oatmeal or grits with milk, cottage cheese with fresh fruit, string cheese, babybel cheese, soy sausage links, whole grain toast with 2 tablespoons peanut butter, yogurt (don't get the kind with fruit already in it, add your own no sugar added fruit)

I dumped the sweets and started eating small amounts of healthy food, concentrating on the proteins. I also tried to establish the habits necessary once sleeved - no liquids a half hour before and after eating; cut food into very small pieces before eating; and eat very, very slowly at the table.

You may not even need pain meds when you go home.
